We have loved Lebanese Taverna Bethesda for many years and are very distressed that it is closing. Run by a local family, you always receive a warm welcome and delicious food. We have also often used their catering services and the food is wonderful and the staff in the catering section are always extremely accommodating. The Bethesda restaurant will be sorely missed but we will be sure to go dine at the other locations.
We have enjoyed meals here before. However, our waiter was very unaccommodating. My guest asked for a schwarma sandwich with no fries and instead a salad. The waiter would not provide the sandwich without the fries even though we offered to pay for the salad separately. My wife ordered the beet salad. the waiter automatically said we don't have it as not in season. He allegedly went back to the kitchen and said it was ok to order the beet salad. We ordered tea after the meal, which the waiter did not bring until we had paid the check and had to remind him about the tea. My guest ordered salmon which she said was inedible.
Quite frankly we will have to think long and hard about our other options before returning to this restaurant.
Eggplant dish was not identified as being fried and it was deep-fried. We arrived for our 7:00 p.m. reservation and were seated without being told that our friends were already there. We waited 20 minutes before calling them, only to find out they'd been seated elsewhere. Very poor attention to detail. Food was fair but nothing special.
A good meal was had by all! We dined after a movie on a Sunday and it was quiet - not crowded. We enjoyed our meal and the waiter was helpful. Two thumbs up!
Hadn’t dined here in awhile. Food was mediocre except for the hummus, which in consistently good.
Went to the Lebanese Taverna for Valentines. Great food and great service.
Great experience we’ll be back.
The service was poor from the way the hostess greeted us to the look of surprise on the face of the server when asked if the grilled vegetables were supposed to be served hot. The lamb skewers were tough, the fish dry and overall the meal was not good. My guest and I attempted to top if off with desert (Italian coffee w/Amaretto) This restaurant did not have Amaretto.
Had tabbouleh (salad menu), pumpkin kibble, chicken samosas, grape leaves (mezze menu), everything was fine. I always have the tabbouleh here as it is much better than what can found at other restaurants. Good service, no lags (was a slow night). Dessert okay, decided to try something new, don't remember what it was called but had coconut and pistachios. It was supposed to have some ice cream but I think it had completely melted by the time it arrived. Have had the chocolate lava cake and another with sesame and cheese, both of which were much better.
Very pleasant meal. Not fussy. Casual. Good food. Fair prices. Attentive service. Nothing stellar or especially noteworthy but everyone enjoyed their meal and we will return when in the mood for middle eastern cuisine. Plenty of reasonable parking in adjacent underground lot. Preferable to dealing with congestion in county lot up the street.
At lunch on a Friday, the restaurant was lightly populated, quiet and pleasant--especially at
our table next to the big window facing westward. We were well attended by our waiter.
Enjoyed the opportunity to have a relaxed dinner in this L.T. Full service restaurant. Have ordered delicious take out from other locations - first time here. Particularly enjoyed lamb w/ artichokes and a lovely Lebanese red wine.
A blustery day -- the restaurant kept the back room especially cozy and warm.
Our waiter was attentive and when he brought a box for us to pack up our extra falafel sandwiches, he also brought a complimentary bag of warm pitas to go with it. Not sure if other customers would get the same treatment -- if you do, lucky you!
Looking forward to coming again to my fave DC spot.
New Year’s Eve
Our overall experience at Lebanese Taverna Bethesda was mixed. While we really enjoyed the appetizers, the lamb entree was overcooked, not something you'd expect for a $29 dish. The biggest turnoff, however, was the service. First, their system showed that our party had already been seated by the time we arrived -- fortunately, they still had an open walk-in table that we were able to sit at. Second, when we were seated (at 7pm) we were told that we had to leave by 9pm because of a private event, which we said was fine. But when it came to our waitress, it was clear that she was trying to rush us, and by the time it was 8pm (1 hour before we were told we had to leave!) she came over and told us to start "wrapping it up", but we could "feel free to finish our drinks"....not exactly the type of service or attitude you'd expect when paying $100+. Other small things, for example the fact that we ordered sangria but the waitress didn't pour even the first glasses, and that I had to keep my coat on because it was so cold, added to the negative experience. I imagine it is probably better on normal nights when there aren't private events, but I probably won't be back to find out.
Delicious food in a stunning room.
Hosted a birthday dinner for 10 people for my mother’s 87th and it couldn’t have been a nicer evening.
Excellent as always. Great server, wonderful food, and overall wonderful. I love the vegetarian mezza options.
I recommend that the menu include information about allergens like nuts.
A good standby in Bethesda for a quality meal. Service can be a bit slow, but the food is always tasty. Large restaurant with a lot of space, good for groups.
Lebanese Taverna offers tasty lamb dishes and many different types of hummus. My grandchildren enjoy the pita bread. We all love the friendly service and the great value of our meals.
Enjoyed dining at restaurant but portions were small - generous portion of rice.
Warm pita was good and plentiful.
Fantastic food. Generous portions. Our waiter, George, was knowledgeable, courteous, and gracious... Provided GREAT service! Went to celebrate my wife's birthday with our adult sons. All of us enjoyed the cuisine and atmosphere. Will definitely return!
my family of 3 thoroughly enjoyed our dinner ! we love the decor as well as our sever who was a new bartender from Serbia I believe . food was outstanding, my 10 year old daughter loved the Tzatziki and taboule. i shared lamb with my daughter and we loved it too. the new bartender was very nice, we would def return!
Great food and wonderful and kind service!
When I booked the reservation I indicated that we were celebrating a birthday, yet the server never even mentioned the occasion or asked how we wanted to celebrate.
Choosing this location to celebrate my retirement. Server was attentive until our food came. He barely returned to refill our water and I needed to have more. He seemed to want us to eat then run. Our 7pm reservation should have left ample time to talk but by 9 pm they dimmed the lights, ran the vacuum cleaner as if to alert us to get out. This was not expected and even the other [remaining] table of diners got the hint.
Good food, ample portions but we felt rushed towards the end.
Excellent service and tasty food - something for everyone!
This location has really nice staff and hosts! They seated our partial group and were so kind throughout our dinner.
The food came flying out of the kitchen. We hardly ate the appetizers, before the server brought the meal. The lamb shank was just ok. $$$
Overall pleased with the exception of my drink order. I ordered the Phoenician drink which didn't come in a martini glass and pomegranate seeds and The drink didn't taste like there was any vodka in it.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal out with friends. My GF and I shared two entrees (Curry and Lamb with Grape Leaves) which were excellent. The Baklava was a great close to a wonderful meal.
This is our go-to restaurant whenever we want to have fun with friends and family. It offers options that please both vegetarians and meat-eaters, and special requests are honored to the letter. The food is delicious, and the ambience is friendly and elegant at the same time. We love Lebanese Taverna!
This place level of service and food very much reminds me of a very average diner. Service was lousy to mediocre, food at best was mediocre. We went for a friend get together so we ordered an appetizer of Hummus Trio and four dishes (a bad curry, a pretty bad vegetarian eggplant entre, lamb dish and an average salad with salmon). Veggies (carrots, celery and cucumber) on the side of hummus platter seemed to have been cut a while ago and weren't fresh. Hummus was just ok and dishes were bad.
Waiter didn't bring the chutney which was part of curry entré until we asked. He partially cleaned the table for dessert with a half used tissue that was holding in his hand.....:(
