Named after the slang term for members of the U.S. Marine Corps, Leatherneck Steakhouse is located on the top floor of the Marines Memorial Club and offers elegant San Francisco dining, exceptional views of the city and an excellent wine list. Executive Chef Paul Lozito has crafted superb menus perfect for a light lunch, romantic dinner or group gathering. Decorated with military memorabilia, our San Francisco steakhouse is the perfect blend of traditional with modern touches. Most nights also feature live piano music during dinner hours, making dining in San Francisco an exceptional
Nice place (lots of tradition) with a great view (12th floor) that comes on top of superb steak and excellent service.
Food is awesome! We did appreciate it so much! We had steaks, they tasted so good! The restaurant is a little old style but the view over the city is really very nice!
Lovely food. Good service great views. Just had to he in dress jacket for men.. so they lent my son one and were great about it high dress code..
Had a great surprise when we showed up to find that this restaurant is in a building that has served the marines for many years. Food was fantastic, service exemplary. Would definitely go back again.
I am a member of the Club in which the steakhouse is located. It is a wonderful club with a great mission. However, on our recent trip, I was not wholly satisfied. 1) We visited this location, principally to celebrate our 35th Anniversary. I made mention in the reservations as such, which was for saturday night. . There was no mention nor overture by the restaurant or the club of the event. Very poor manners, in our opinion. 2) The Prime rib was cold. Upon returning it, the response was basically that that was the way it was prepared, but they recommend the hot au jus to warm it up. Very unsatisfactory. I traded my rib eye (which was very good) with my wife, to ensure she had a good meal, and I sucked it up as I should have. But it kinda puts a bad pall on what otherwise should be a good event, even though they didn't charge for the prime rib. But it's the experience one wants to savor. We hope this was an anomaly but was not impressed with no mention or overture to make our occasion special, nor the dining experience.
The view from the 12th floor steakhouse is stunning! The food matches the view and the service is excellent.
We always enjoy diner and drinks in the Leatherneck Steak house. Great views on the City. We stayed 2 night this past weekend and had a great time meeting other people during happy hour in the bar. Dinner was good, my wife and I shared a steak. We where surprised to see a $5.00 split charge on the bill. Also, the side dishes are pricey at $12 each. Over all we had a great time and look forward to our next visit.
We had our daughter, her husband and our two grandchildren (8@10 years) with us for dinner. The staff and waiters made our experience great. They accommodated our grandchildren with “off the menu” requests and served delicious and tender prime rib and bone-in New York steak for us. Great view of San Francisco.
My 72nd birthday!
Again, Leatherneck Steakhouse at the Marines' Memorial does not disappoint. As I have mentioned before, this is my Go-To place for celebrations and/or business meals where you need to converse with your guests. Edda the Manager ensures you are welcomed and your visit is perfect. Recently, they added the ribeye to the lunch menu. While yes, heavy for lunch time fare, I couldn't pass this up. Mated with their famous (yes, if you know Leatherneck you know this) truffle tater tots, it was Heavenly.
And to top it off, the birthday girl got treated to a custom created carrot cake desert (see the photo).
Under the direction of GM Michael Allen, Leatherneck Steakhouse has only improved their game in recent years. It is a must visit if you want great food while enjoying a view of San Francisco that is breath taking.
Cathy was an excellent server, the bison was perfect, and the bread pudding was amazing. Also, the rolls were served with an entire bulb of roasted garlic in addition to butter and oil/balsamic. Overall, an excellent experience. Pianist was great, too.
my rib-house steak was excessively fatty; in fact, i was unable to separate the meat from the fat so actually ate very little of it; the mushroom side order was not good; my partner had the filet--it was acceptable. we had a wonderful window table; but because the food was of mediocre quality we will not return
Lovely venue with a great review. Enjoyed the ambiance and the music.
Great location great view of city steaks were perfect
A hidden gem in SF and reasonable price.
Leatherneck Steakhouse is an awesome venue. The food alone is reason to go but the views are amazing (especially at sunset). The portions are generous and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend the brussel sprouts.
After being sent away to change from nice docker shorts to pants (dress code not listed in open table) I order the Porter house. It was under cooked for my taste and the quality of the meat was select at best. Server was great but the food was anything special Will not he going back.
Service and veal chop is superb. The clientel are classy- looking and they go well with the great view of The City. Too many great entrées...you must return many times to try them all.
went for a special event (engagement). Not busy at all. Took 11 minutes for someone to greet our table. Never asked for drinks. Waitress took our order and began to walk away and I had to call her back to order drinks, water and ask for a glass of wine, which I never received and we got charged for. Our prime rib was WAY over cooked than what we ordered. Waitress checked on us once during dinner. Never refilled our water glasses. Then she stood and talked with the piano player for 13 minutes (we timed her). As her tables ate. The restaurant was recommended per internet reviews, but we were extremely disappointed for our special planned weekend. I would have had better service at Dennys.
So elegant without being stuffy. They had a special which was a steak with the most delicious brown marsala mushroom sauce I had ever tasted. Cooked to perfection. Very attentive service with a calm and relaxed atmosphere. Live piano music (probably a weekend thing) added to the classy feeling and the view of downtown San Francisco made for one of the best date nights we have had in a long time. I cannot wait to come back.
We had another great experience at Leatherneck Steakhouse. The food was delicious and you can’t beat the view and ambience with the piano player entertaining us. I had the burger and my husband had the bison for the first time. Our daughter had the lamb chops and my father-in-law had pasta with prawns. We all thoroughly enjoyed our selections. We had a server we’d never had before ( I can’t recall his name) and the service was excellent. We started our evening with drinks in the lounge and were taken care of by Gabriela, who has been providing excellent service for many years. Leatherneck Steakhouse is a great choice in the Union Square area. Highly recommend.
Second time dining here and it was as wonderful as my first visit. The food, service and ambiance really can't be beat. It's a hidden gem in San Francisco. Minor complaint....This visit was for my birthday and I didn't get a table by the window as I'd requested but I think I probably just don't have connections. Even so, definitely recommend.
great food and beautiful views. Service was friendly and fast
Superb service and food.Great atmosphere was terrific view of the city. All the staff was smiling and very courteous. I recommend it to anyone and everyone. This is superb in ever respect
This is a gem in SF. I had one of the best steaks I can remember in recent times. I will definitely return.
Great location on the 12th floor with Bay and Financial District views. Two blocks from Union Square. Courteous service. Good quality food. Nice bar if you have to wait for your table. Overall, good value for money.
An enjoyable evening. The food was delicious, the wait staff attentive. This restaurant is definitely worth checking out when you are in San Francisco. We especially enjoyed the pianist.
Great overall experience all things considered - food, service, ambiance
Great food. Every course. Service was a bit slow. Piano and live vocals a great touch. Recommended.
Quiet enough to have a conversation over dinner. Service could not have been better. Food well prepared and served.
We witnessed the most amazing sunset over San Fran here. Good food, great piano player, tired decor but lovely ambience.
We made a reservation for when doors opened as a result no problem getting window seat. Had ten minutes to kill so enjoyed drinks on the Chesty bar before. Martin our server was very good and knowledgeable. The city view is to die for. Skyline has grown higher but still semi-obstructed views of bay visible.
Started off with rolls. Along with rolls comes butter, roasted garlic and oil and balsamic vinegar. We had forgotten how great roasted garlic is as a spread. Bought several after at store so we can have at home. Salad with Blue cheese had lots of cheese. Cold and crisp. Our main course(rack of lamb and scallops ) were cooked to perfection. We ordered a side of mashed garlic potatoes and one side served us both. Rounded out the meal with a nice glass of Malbec from Argentina. Price slightly under $100. Beautiful place to splurge a little.
The Restaurant and bar are on the 12th floor of the Marine Memorial Club. It is open to the public but also has membership with perks. Its hotel is 5 star. There are numerous special areas to checked out such as Memorial Honor wall, Gold Star Wall and Museum along with a theater. Check out elevator menu so you don't miss any. They are spread throughout the building.
Good value for a steak dinner. The view is fantastic!
First time to Leatherneck and it did not disappoint! First time to San Francisco. My wife and we're lucky enough to get a window seat, but honestly there is not a bad seat in the place as you can see the city skyline from any table. The views are fantastic up there. The piano player is a nice touch. Our Oysters Rockefeller, Steak, fried Brussel sprouts, and creamed spinach were all fantastic. We will definitely be back in the future!
The service and food and piano player at leatherneck are so wonderful and friendly and attentive without intruding! The view is glorious and coming to the marines building is so inspiring to see the stories of the brave men and even get to see/ meet some ! Love it!!!
Delicious food, perfect service. Loved the piano player and his choice of songs.
The amostphere was incredible, the staff were fantastic and the food was to die for! I really enjoyed listening to the piano whilst looking at the beautiful views of San Francisco. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Took my boyfriend out for his birthday and we both had an amazing experience. Server was nice and made recommendations of a special they were having. We had the dried age New York Strip steak with mushrooms, this also included a salad. The truffle tater tots were delicious as well, it is a must order I would say. A complimentary ice cream was also brought out for my boyfriend's birthday. The pianist also played the happy birthday song for him. Overall, I had a great experience. We were sat down with a beautiful view & the environment was calm and classy with piano music playing. Food was on point and the hospitality!
It was my anniversary and I asked for a window table and they didn’t even know anything about it.
I enjoyed the view, the ambience and the location very much. I would return to this restaurant enthusiastically in the future.
Loved the Atmosphere and the food was excellent; one of the few SF restaurants with a view of the city
