Named after the slang term for members of the U.S. Marine Corps, Leatherneck Steakhouse is located on the top floor of the Marines Memorial Club and offers elegant San Francisco dining, exceptional views of the city and an excellent wine list. Executive Chef Paul Lozito has crafted superb menus perfect for a light lunch, romantic dinner or group gathering. Decorated with military memorabilia, our San Francisco steakhouse is the perfect blend of traditional with modern touches. Most nights also feature live piano music during dinner hours, making dining in San Francisco an exceptional
Truly a local gem. Great dining room, service and food.
We managed to get a table by the window with excellent views over SF
Service was a bit too quick for our liking, but I guess it was because we had a late booking and they wanted to close the kitchen
The steaks we had were excellent quality and cooked to perfection, I would recommend to share the sides as they were quite large and at $12 each meant we probably left $36 worth of food on the table That we couldn’t eat!
Would definitely recommend for a special night dinner
This restaurant is superb. At the top of the Marine's Memorial, it is clean and efficient, with great views overlooking the City of San Francisco.
It is definitely one of the best steak houses in the City, and my wife and I think the Filet of Sole fish is the Best you can get anywhere..
The wine list is reasonably priced as is the hard liquor and the food. Not normal San Francisco high prices. Also generous liquor pours.
It is absolutely one of our favorite restaurants in San Francisco . Reservations a must, avaiilbe through restaurant and Open Tablet.
Took my fiancée here for her early birthday dinner. Main reason was the view however they did not guarantee a seat by the window. We were fortunate enough to be seated at a window table next to the live pianist (whom was great!). They have a wine menu but if a cocktail or spirit was desired a trip to the bar by the entrance or an order to your server would have to be requested. To start we had some small dinner roll balls that were at room temperature, butter balls, grilled garlic, and balsamic vinaigrette for fixings as well. Shortly after ordering we were presented with a bleu cheese salad with bleu cheese dressing. Unfortunately neither my fiancée nor I really liked bleu cheese. I wish they would’ve asked. The calamari appetizer was good, only one marinara sauce. The steaks were decent as well, portion sizes were good. She ordered the prime rib that came with au jus and horseradish dipping sauce and I ordered the t bone.
Also want to mention the dress code that seems to be strict on their website but upon arrival we did see a couple individuals at the bar area in jeans and t shirts.
The Leatherneck Lounge never disappoints and this time it was the most special ever. Everything was fabulous, every single item we ordered was the best it could be and made for a perfect surprise birthday celebration for our grandson. This is the best steakhouse ever!
Wonderful evening. Great view, great service and a very good dinner.
Great views & great service. The steaks were slightly over-cooked— one ordered rare was a brownish-pink in the center—and the scallops were a bit fishy. But we loved the sides & the general vibe.
Excellent as always....
Great service, food & atmosphere ...
great place, fantastic view
As members of The Marine Memorial Club we have eaten at The Leatherneck Steakhouse on numerous occasions. The past dinner consisted of some very excellent Clam Chowder and French Onion Soup for starters. We were both very pleased with the flavors of each. An Iceberg Wedge with Bleu Cheese was up next. Again we both enjoyed the flavors and freshness. Then came Duck and Prime Rib with a shared Mac and Cheese. All three dishes were excellent. We were seated at a window seat with excellent views of the City. We will return as this is the best value in San Francisco.
Amazing views, attentive service, fantastic food. Highly recommend!
Beautiful views of the city and the food was fantastic.
GREAT overall experience! Food, service, ambience were all superb.
First time. Tasty food, superb service, highly recommend.
Wonderful food, great service at very reasonable prices. Definitely planning a return.
Excellent as always.
Delicious steaks and prime rib, professional service, and great views of San Francisco from 20th floor. Piano over dinner was very nice touch.
Great service and great food.
Great dinner, food was delicious. The view was amazing. The service outstanding. We will be going back soon.
Spectacular view, better then higher towers. And, unlike most skyline restaurants, the food was very good. Waitstaff was excellent.
Great food and service. Old San Francisco ambience - not the trendy noisy stuff.
As usual this is a fantastic Restaurant...food, service and value is exceptional...everyone should try it once!
Service was exceptional.
In memory of First Lieutenant Alan Abrams birthday.
Gem of a restaurant with an old school charm. Fantastic views of downtown San Francisco. A classic steakhouse.
The food quality is beyond my expectation.
Whole experience is good.
Just a few suggestion:the speed of serving the dishes is a little bit fast~
Beautiful views of the city. Wonderful food. Attentive service even though we were a bit underdressed. Only negative we’re the poor margaritas.
I never knew this restaurant existed but I had tickets for a show at the theater in the same building so figured it would be convenient and the reviews were good. The views of San Francisco are amazingly, and I loved the piano player. The bar scene was lively and the restaurant is away from the bar so the restaurant was not too noisy to carry on a conversation. Our service started out great and we made sure our waiter knew we had theater tickets but the desserts (ice cream sundae should not take 20 minutes) took a long time and when we tried paying our waiter was really no where to be found. We finally paid cash—a lucky accident I had gone to the ATM that day—and got downstairs to the theater in time.
However, I would definitely go back to Leatherneck because the food was really good. I had the rack of lamb and my companion had the filet mignon and they were both cooked and seasoned perfectly. We ordered the creamed spinach and the truffle tator tots as our shared side dishes and they were both delicious but both rich so I would probably not pair them next time. The entrees came with a delicious and fresh wedge salad that was not soaked in dressing and was wonderful. The ice cream sundae was good but I felt rushed at that point and the bread pudding was great—not soggy or greasy. We did not have alcohol so our bill was reasonable for the amount of food we got. The rack of lamb is two large chops which other restaurants probably would have sliced between the two ribs to create the impression of more food. Leatherneck’s portions are ample but not wasteful. We ate every bite! This is a lovely place to bring out of town guests since the views of SF are fabulous and the food really delicious. Also a great place to go for a special occasion or if you just want a great steakhouse.
We had a wonderful dinner, filet, scallops and a couple sides. First time that we tried the various mushrooms in a shallot sauce...fabulous!,
Great piano player named Eric!
Everything was wonderful and the view was spectacular. The food was delicious and the waiter was very attentive.
A lovely, quiet, elegant room with polite service and beautiful view. Very good food nicely served. The live piano music added to the ambience.
The view out the windows of the Leatherneck Steakhouse was fabulous overlooking downtown San Francisco as the evening got dark and the lights turned on was magical. Service was exemplary and the food was delicious. It was a special dinner for my son and we both enjoyed it very much. The pianist serenaded is with a nice selection of music.
The Leatherneck is located on top of Marines Memorial Club with a fantastic view, on of the best in San Francisco. Early parking and access to theatre district. Food was great! Try the Dungeness crab cakes and the steaks of course. Wine list was limited but good enough. Service was excellent, attentive but not overbearing. Live piano bar was a great accompaniment without being the main event of the evening. Dress was on the upper end of casual. All in all a most enjoyable evening
First time, very enjoyable.
I wasn't happy with the fish, but my business partner enjoyed his.
It was quiet, the view is magnificent and the staff was wonderful.
I would recommend to visit it only for the view. Food is average (I am surprised, that steakhouse can make a chewy stake). Service is poor (one waiter was aggressive because of tips, but he didn't even come to the table in 2 hours I was there).
Poor service, over priced regular food
My son is a marine deployed and we had dinner with our family and my sons girlfriends family. I messed up the reservation making it for 2 instead of 6 and your guys just rolled with it. Thank you so much! With everything going on, you guys made us feel calm and part of the marine family. Thank you so much!
Great view, service and very good food (steak & sole). I am surprised this place wasn't busier on a Friday night, especially with really good pianist in the background. it deserves to be packed!
I think this is a lovely place to dine, particularly given the stunning view, day or evening. The steaks and other meat choices are well selected and the quality is exemplary, if my filet mignon is any indication, I could literally cut it with a fork. Our party of 3 was especially taken with the quiet sound level, as we enjoyed a pleasant conversation without having to listen to the folks next to us. The place was comfortably full with customers and the background music was provided by a very talented pianist who did a wonderful job providing tunes everyone would enjoy, drawn from a variety of genres. Watching from our seats high above, we saw The City daytime busy pace grow slow and the sun begin to set. Then we were entranced by the emergence of twinkling lights across the cityscape, as if by magic. That was a special treat for us, sitting as we were by the window and watching the evening come to life as only it can in The City by the Bay.
