Leatherneck Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Everything from Service to Food was excellent. Quiet, warm, beautiful view, everyone was friendly and professional.. We will return again and again and again. It is an annual trip with friends to SF, and we agreed we are not going anywhere else for dinner in the future!
On an annual basis we go into San Francisco for a Holiday weekend. We found Leathernecks several years ago and it quickly became the "key" item of the visit. The setting is nicely done (sedate) for Christmas. Live piano played Christmas music. View from the window on the top floor was amazing. Food was spot on.
We had a family get together here and although it was too loud to talk across the table, the food was exceptional and the service was great. Our table of 7 was near the piano player, who was excellent but it was loud. Views are awesome too, but it was too busy to get near the window to look out. Very good restaurant!
My husband, who is a former Marine Captain, and I dined here for the first time on Saturday evening. The view was nice. The table lacked a table cloth. The service was a little slow. The bread was warm, but not very good. The Caesar salad was standard and can be skipped. The steak Oscar style was good, but not great. The sole was good, but not great. The desert menu left a lot to be desired and we skipped desert. The waiter never removed the bread crumbs from our table. The piano player was a welcome element to our dining experience. We enjoyed the memorabilia on the first and second floor of the hotel. This place has a lot of potential and is a hidden gem in San Francisco.
The appetizers and salads were amazing, the service was tough as our waitress had a thick accent and hard to understand. We tried to order a special drink and it came back without what we requested. She was nice enough to try a few red wines as they did not have any Chianti. We even had a reservation but did not get seated a window table with a view, you think they would save those for reservations, maybe those were given to reservation guests...who knows.
The biggest issue we had was both our filet mignons came out very rare and extremely under-cooked when we requested medium. Then after 15 minutes with them back in the kitchen they came back out tough and dry. They were nice enough to comp one of our appetizers yet it did not make up for the $42 x2 delayed and overdone steaks!
Awful. Had reservations and seated promptly. After waiting for 15 minutes with no one coming to take a drink order or introduce themselves.......I had to get up and approach the hostess to ask if a waiter was going to get a drink order.
Ordered the prime rib. Came out lukewarm at best. Sent it back and was returned the exact same temperature.
Won’t be back or recommended to anyone.
At the Leatherneck Steakhouse, the view is stunning, the food is delicious, the service is impeccable, the pianist is excellent, the ambiance and housekeeping are exactly what one would expect from a Marines Memorial Club, the price is reasonable for fine dining. What more could you ask ?
Leatherneck Steakhouse was an unexpected treasure. The ambience and spectacular views of the city skyline made it so special. The service was great and the food was fabulous - mouthwatering rib eye steak was the best I've had in years. Very reasonably priced.
I would never have found this restaurant if it hadn’t been for Opentable. It’s hidden away on the 12th floor of the Marines Club. But once up there, you have a stunning view of Union Square and the city. You also won’t be disappointed by the food and service. I’m going back next time I’m in San Francisco!
This is a classic steakhouse although it does have chicken and fish as well. The service is attentive and discreet. The view of downtown San Francisco is stunning. While this restaurant is in the Marines Memorial Club, it is open to the public. Well worth a visit.
I'd never heard of this restaurant but needed somewhere near ACT and somewhere that teenage carnivores would enjoy. This restaurant hit it on all fronts...the lamb was great, the creamed spinach was great, and the steak was great, too. The onion soup missed the mark, but that's ok. The view made up for it!
