Leaf is a popular Charleston restaurant that strives to incorporate local ingredients and organic foods into every dish served from the kitchen. Whether you're seated inside or outside, the atmosphere is calm and relaxing. Large elm trees reach over the outside tables and shade the area from the sun, making it possible to be comfortable even on the sunniest days.
At Leaf, you can order a delicious Sunday brunch featuring your choice of scrumptious breakfast and lunch dishes as well as a cocktail. During the week, lunch and dinner are offered daily. Begin your meal with freshly made pita chips & dip or a platter of Brie cheese and berries before moving on to your entrée. Enjoy a crisp salad (with or without meat added), soups, sandwiches and melts, meatloaf, fish & chips, stuffed pork loin, Scottish salmon and other tasty delicacies served at Leaf.
Leaf is a great Charleston restaurant. We've eaten here often over the years and made one last trip before it closes at end of January. We will miss it.
Everyone in our party ordered the Restaurant Week specials and every dish was excellent (beef tenderloin, chicken and salmon)!!The tomato/lobster bisque was outstanding! We had to wait beyond our reservation time because of the crowd but the staff was very attentive during that time. The atmosphere is so nice that we didn't mind at all. We have been to Leaf many times and always have a wonderful experience! We have always recommended Leaf very highly to family and friends, and take visitors there every time we have company. Can not recommend highly enough!!
Restaurant week gave us the chance to try Leaf and we are glad we did. Great atmosphrer, friendly staff and good food. We want to go back when we can sit outside.
Very unfortunate they are closing. Food and service were fantastic. A very pleasant experience for my wife and I.
The restaurant is visually very pretty with soft lighting. Service is excellent. Food is good and a real plus for Charleston the noise level is low and the parking garage is right across the street. One of our favorite places for Sunday brunch on the outdoor patio followed by 2nd Sunday stroll of King Street.
Complete and diverse menu for lunch/ lovely mussels and salmon sandwich. Would definitely return!
Went for a casual meal with my daughters. I had the tomato bisque and a caprese salad. Daughter 1 had the shrimp PoBoy and daughter 2 had the short rib grilled cheese. Everyone enjoyed her meal. The food was reasonably priced and the service was good, but a bit impersonal.
It is really too bad how mismanaged this place is. The place is lovely, great location, great porch, nice bar and atmosphere BUT this is the 2nd time I've been in 6 months and both experiences were just terrible. The first time the food was decent but the service was horrendous, this most recent time I figured I'd give it another go, but this time the service was at least better (although not once were we asked if we wanted another round of drinks, despite having empty glass throughout dinner and afterwards) but my dinner entree (short ribs) was so bad it had to be sent back and I had lost my appetite at that point. My fiance' had the lobster bisque which was so salty we could only take a few bites and the lobster tail which was tiny!
I really hope some new owners/management take on this restaurant because it would be such a great place if only the service and food were better!
The staff was friendly and prompt. The food was great! While the restaurant was very clean and the ambiance was spot on, the floor was very slippery and quite hazardous to walk on if not wearing flats.
We had a great server, who did very well with our three year old. Food was good, though not outstanding. There were TVs in the bar area, which were loud enough to hear from outside patio; luckily we were seated in the back section.
My mother always said that you can always find something good in everything, so here goes: the server was attentive, chairs were very comfortable and, overall, it is a visually beautiful restaurant.
Great ambience in and out. imaginative menu, especially the appetizers. Off the beaten path; it's great.
My husband ordered the following menu item:
Cherry balsamic glazed short ribs which sounded wonderful.
What he received was several slices of fatty, dry, tasteless meat.
There wasn't a hint of the cherry balsamic glaze that was described.
My husband, nice guy that he is, committed to eating his meal since the waiter did not return to ask how everything was for quite some time. My husband kindly told another server that his meal was awful and that it might be something to discuss with the chef. The only redeeming thing our server did was half-heartedly apologize and comp us a glass of wine. My two daughters and I had acceptable food.
Great warm relaxing place Service was right on and the food was terrific - the short ribs were killer
Our reservations for 5 were for noon on Sunday, and we arrived a little early. Our friends were running a behind, and we were now going to be 4 instead of the 5 that we'd booked. The staff was very accommodating and setup our table while we hovered over some sparling at the bar as we waited. Brunch included Bloody Marys or Mimosas and we asked for those when we sat at our table to study the menu. There were choices on the menu to satisfy a variety of palates and the plates were plentiful. Food was fresh and delicious. Servers were attentive but not intrusive and we lacked for nothing while enjoying our meal.
Loved sitting outside in Leaf's beautiful courtyard for Sunday brunch. Loved that a mimosa was INCLUDED with my meal, too. The food was good but seemed to be lacking something that I couldn't quite put my finger on. I would recommend based on location and beautiful setting.
Great business lunch place - allows for private talks
My guests and I had such an amazing time at Leaf for my 26th birthday!! Mike, our server was AMAZING! The overall experience was top-notch. I always love Leaf and am so glad I picked such a great spot to celebrate my birthday! I will be back again with more people!
Excellent food! Glad we went there. Really enjoyed the open wall where we could sit inside and enjoy the cool air, but have the outside ambience.
We lived in Greenville for 10 years and one of the most popular restaurants there offered 2-3 "small plate" entrees each evening. It was just the right size for a woman....who is not starving.
My shrimp risotto was fabulous but I had to bring half of it home.
Just a thought. Don't think many restaurants in Charleston offer the "small plate". You could become noted for this option.
