Le Yaca began in a tiny, country village(Courchevel)in the French Alps in 1964.Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided that it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans they told the hopeful restaurateurs that they were crazy to think that people would drive 8 kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner.Daniele and Gerard hesitated for 3 months and then decided: “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “ il n’y a qu’a le faire” which basically means “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag. But the name caught on with customers, who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms ” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States & opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg.Daniel Abid bought le Yaca in 2001. Daniel worked and trained in such prestigious places as “Le Pre Catelan” and “Lenotre” in Paris; “L’Amandier” and “Roger Verge" and to top it all off “Alain Ducasse.”

Always excellent food and service. The bread is so good you have to remind yourself not to fill up on it. The crab crepe, lamb, lobster, fish, steak are always scrumptious. I have had all of the above. The French onion soup is yummy. Dessert, save room! The souffle is memorable. The sorbets are delectable. Do not miss this place.

Celebrated another birthday lunch at LeYaca. Never disappoints. Food is right on, along with service. Four of us dined and each enjoyed something different from rockfish, salmon, crab crepe and filet. Of course desserts two did the marquis and two molten lava cake.

Le Yaca is one of our favorite restaurants. The French cuisine theme, the varied menu, and especially the three-course pre fixed selections are fabulous. Our server was Briana who is vivacious, fun, friendly and very knowledge about the menu.

The service was superb. Ming was our waiter, and he was attentive and courteous. My dinner of salmon was delicious;however, my husband had liver most of which was tough and inedible. We eat at LaYaca about once a month and found this visit disappointing

LeYaca has been a staple in the Williamsburg area for many, many years. The new location has provided easier access and visibility as well as larger indoor and outdoor seating. LeYaca has never lost site of the quality or ambience one has come to expect from a French restaurant. The aroma of the fireplace is a welcoming sign of what treats are in store for the first time visitor or the long-time patron. The fresh baked French bread & creamy butter will make your mouth water. The cool, light cream and white palette of the various dining rooms gives a light, airy feel during the day and a romantic feel for evening dining. The fresh salad with sliced grapes is coated with the perfect amount of creamy dressing. The filet mignon over the roasted, paper thin sliced potatoes will melt in your mouth. The crab cakes, filled with jump lump crab & a smidge of binder, are served over the same paper thin potatoes with a light sauce They are my all-time favorite and go to meal at LeYaca. They never disappoint. Nor does the grilled chicken atop a beautiful salad or the salmon. Food at LeYaca is as good as it gets. Their desserts are amazing. They have a wonderful selection of wines and a beautiful bar serving great cocktails. The service at LeYaca will never disappoint. There is a reason LeYaca has been a part of the Williamsburg food scene for decades. Make a reservation for lunch or dinner. You won't be sorry.

Went here for our 48th anniversary. Made reservation for 6 pm. Seated exactly at 6pm. , waiter was excellent, food was excellent, atmosphere was excellent. We had the 3 course meal starting with the onion soup, then Wife had flounder and I had salmon and for dessert we had the warm chocolate cake with ice cream and all were excellent. They even brought us a glass of champagne to celebrate our anniversary. I would highly recommend this restaurant. We had a great experience.

Le Yaca is Williamsburg's finest restaurant. Our food was nicely prepared, service was adquate. We were a little disappointed in our tenderloin steaks as they were on the tough side which was unusual. The sauce was tasty and the sides were good. One suggestion would be to give a diner the choice of sides with this meal. The restaurant was quite busy with some large groups. It is one of our all-time favorites.

Food wasn’t bad if you aren’t familiar with cooking. The filets were pretty good. The French onion soup was ok. Better than most restaurants but not as tasty and savory as Julia child’s recipe. The other guests agreed

We met some friend for our monthly lunch. Two of our party had been at the restaurant before, two were new to the experience. We had an outstanding waiter, we have had him serve us in the past so we were very pleased. The food was as we expected, excellent. I had the Foir de Veau, three had the rockfish special, mine alacarte one of the special was on the prefixed and one without dessert. Everyone enjoyed their lunch. We had two bottles of french Rosé. Our initial selection was not available so we got the next level at the same price. If we had any complaint it would be that they do a better job of managing their wine stock, after all the day before was Father’s Day.

My only concern is that I asked for a birthday cake and was never told it would not be available, but none was offered when we dined.

My husband and I had a very nice meal here, service was excellent, it was a bit noisy when we arrived but calmed down about 30 minutes into the meal. The food was creative, delicious, and I loved that they had so many gluten free options on the menu. The cost was appropriate for the quality of food. We will definitely visit again!!

My "go-to-place" for nearly 25 years this was the only time I have been disappointed in dinner. I am hoping that it was the stress of Father's Day and not a trend. I ordered the filet au poivre and, unfortunately, it was devoid of flavor. Completely. The filet had no juice to it and the congac sauce did not bring anything to the beef. Just not interesting. The accompaniments on the plate were benign.

Both of my dining companions ordered the rack of lamb medium rare - and they were delivered RAW. You can see that they were not cooked before even cutting into them. When corrected, the lamb suffered from the same issue as my beef: pretty benign on flavor.

We will continue to go to Le Yaca as I have for years and hope that this was a one-off.

This place is outstanding; the staff/service, food, and ambiance. I highly recommend coming here...we are from out of town and went for our anniversary dinner, and came back two days later to enjoy some dessert (just because it was so great)! They also gave us a complimentary glass of champagne, just because I had put in our reservation notes that it was our anniversary; how nice! We also were seated in the "red room" to enjoy some private/quite conversation.

Le Yaca is a wonderful restaurant for lunch and for special occasions. However, don't expect a little dessert or gesture from the restaurant when celebrating a special occasion, like a birthday or an anniversary. Lunch is reasonable, there are many nice choices, the food is always delectable, and the presentation is excellent.

The acoustics are not good. If the restaurant is busy, it is sometimes hard to hear one's own party. Consideration should be made to softening the acoustics.

Our waiter was good, but very nosy about how much we were eating ( he thought he would have to provide a box) and he was especially nosy about how much water we drank. That was none of his business. And, not appreciated even if he meant it to be humorous. The statement that one of us had had enough, was not indicative of good waiting.

I would recommend this restaurant to others.

I've visited a lot of restaurants, and I have to put this one in my top 5. The price fixe menu had quite a few options. The service was top notch. Our server was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The food was a great mix of French traditional with a Virginia flair. Next time we visit, I definitely want to do the tasting menu.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed LaYaca's delicious, upscale Sunday Brunch at its convenient Williamsburg location for the first time last weekend. The price fixe $31 includes a cocktail, warm bread basket, choice of a salad or soup, choice of about 4 entrée selections, and dessert. I had the delicious lobster tail and my husband had the petit filet. for the main course. They did not disappoint! Neither did the chocolate truffle nor warm apple dessert ala mode. Kudos to our friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient server, Gail! We'll be back!

We had been here before and were looking forward to returning. We were very disappointed. The service was very slow. Our waiter was never to be found. When we asked other employees they answered they did not know or they would find our waiter. The food was fair but not worth the price. Its time to look for a new restaurant. Left the restaurant frustrated and disappointed.

Tonight was our second visit to Le Yaca. Our first time had been disappointing but we wanted to give it another try since we had heard such great things about it . We are so glad we did. Our evening at Le Yaca was wonderful. It was so different from our first time. The food was excellent as well as the service. This time each course was spaced perfectly and the food arrived hot versus luke warm. Our server, Brienna, was a key part in making it such a good experience. We now would have no qualms in recommending Le Yaca as a great restaurant.

We decided to try Le Yaca while spending the weekend in Williamsburg for my fiancé’s birthday. We made a reservation a few nights in advance with no problem. Upon arrival, we were seated almost immediately. We ordered a bottle of wine which was fantastic! We both did the prix fixe menu. I got filet and shrimp while he got lobster tail and crab cakes. The food was very good. It was a little rich for my palette but my fiancé loved his food. For dessert we both did creme brûlée. Because it was his birthday, they even put a candle in his! Dessert was fantastic. We also had a wonderful server who was very attentive to our needs and made the experience all the more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone who is celebrating a special occasion or just wants a very nice dinner.

We had a wonderful evening and dining experience. We especially enjoy Le Yaca for the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely dinner with time to enjoy food and conversation. Our waiter was excellent and she made sure that we had time between courses. It is a treat to enjoy 3.5 hour dining experience and Le Yaca has provided this every time we dine there (which is at least once a year). Since we live elsewhere in Virginia, we usually plan an overnight stop in Williamsburg on our way to visit family so that we can dine at Le Yaca.
