Le Yaca began in 1964 in Courchevel, a tiny, country village in the French Alps. Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans, they told the hopeful restaurateurs they were crazy to think people would drive eight kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner. Daniele and Gerard hesitated for three months and then decided, “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “il n’y a qu’a le faire,” which basically means, “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag, but the name caught on with customers who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States and opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg. Daniel Abid bought Le Yaca in 2001. Daniel worked and trained in such prestigious places as “Le Pre Catelan” and “Lenotre” in Paris; “L’Amandier” and “Roger Verge," and to top it all off, “Alain Ducasse.”

    Was a great visit start to finish.. The Holiday decorations were very nice and enjoyed seeing them, our table was ready as requested.. And Minn our server, did his usual finest caring for us.. Everything came as ordered and expected and at the perfect pace.. Wines were very good and loved the soufflé. Was wonderful, look forward to our nice opportunity.     Le Yaca did not disappoint. The service was excellent. Our waiter, Matt, was very attentive and efficient, yet very personable. The dishes we ordered were delicious and presented as described on the menu. Wine by the glass options consisted of US, Virginia, and French wines. Le Yaca is truly a dining experience but be prepared to spend more than you would at a lower quality alternative - it's worth it.

    Our dining experience was excellent. LeYaca has several small rooms, one of which the host directed us to so we would not be disturbed by a noisy holiday that was being held in a larger room. The service and food was excellent. LeYaca is certainly a top restaurant in Williamsburg.

    This was our first time eating here. I just happened to find this on the Colonial Williamsburg website and thought we'd give it a try. So glad we did. The food was excellent and our waiter (Charles B) was very attentive. While a little pricey it is well worth it. A great place to go for that special night or special someone.

    Prix fixe lunch options are outstanding. Price may “seem” high but compared to what is out there given the exceptional quality well worth it. You can run up a tab with several kir royales but if you don’t, the value is very good.

    Absolutely fabulous service and authentic, delicious French cuisine. The presentation and taste of everything we ordered was above expectations and transported us to meals we have had in France. We have canceled dinner reservations at another restaurant in two days to return to.Le Yaca.

    Their brunch is great. Plenty of variety (breakfast or lunch, your choice). Preparation/presentation is exquisite, and the flavors are delicious. We had the tomato and bell pepper soup which was so good, and I had the amazing tenderloin filet and my son the Benedict. The deserts (marquis and fondant) were also amazing! The portions are quite generous as well. The service is great, and the owner was making the rounds, making sure people were enjoying their meals. The ambiance is great, tastefully decorated for the holiday season, and even when busy, it doesn't feel too crowded. Highly recommend them for any meal. I only wish I lived in Williamsburg. This place is on my list of must visit places when I travel in the area.

    As much as we wanted to stay in La yaca, the whole brunch took about 1.5 hrs from the cocktail to the dessert, a bit long for someone who visit from out of town and wanted to spend more time elsewhere in Williamsburg. Nonetheless, food and services were great.

    The food was delicious and the service was very good. However, the floors are not carpeted, and appeared to be tile, so besides table cloths, nothing absorbed the sound. We were in a small room with just six tables but it was very loud. People were having quiet or normal conversations, but we could overhear all of them. For that reason, I don't think we would go back.

    Excellent “price fixe” options. We had halibut and Dover sole—-both outstanding. The oysters served with the halibut are huge and very tasty. Great dessert options. Unsurpassed excellent service by Andew.
