Le Yaca began in a tiny, country village(Courchevel)in the French Alps in 1964.Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided that it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans they told the hopeful restaurateurs that they were crazy to think that people would drive 8 kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner.Daniele and Gerard hesitated for 3 months and then decided: “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “ il n’y a qu’a le faire” which basically means “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag. But the name caught on with customers, who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms ” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States & opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg.Daniel Abid bought le Yaca in 2001. Daniel worked and trained in such prestigious places as “Le Pre Catelan” and “Lenotre” in Paris; “L’Amandier” and “Roger Verge" and to top it all off “Alain Ducasse.”

As usual, food and service were outstanding. I would recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner and fine french cuisine with service to match.

I have been going to Le Yaca ever since it opened with different owners. This week was the first time that I was terribly disappointed in my dining experience. The floors throughout the restaurant were wet and slippery. To get to the ladies room, one had to hang on to chairs and take baby steps as it was so slippery. Very dangerous.

As for the food, I ordered the salad and the petite mignon. It was tough.... I took a couple of bites and became quite ill.... after using the ladies' room, I tried a little bit more and it was inedible.
I then sent it back..... as my dining companion was already finished by now, I did not accept the offer of another filet. Rather than comp the meal, the restaurant charged me for the small salad I had. Given the prominent status of this restaurant and my 20 year experience, I was shocked that I was even asked to pay for the salad. I was sick for the rest of the afternoon and I had had nothing else to eat on that day.

The food was great but service was terrible!we decided on the 5 courses ,our aperitif arrived after the food
The food is five stars with a fast food waiting staff
They welcome you beautifully, then we wait for anything to happen ,they bring water with out asking if we want flat or sparkling,
No wine list a page with cocktails and some wines
But nothing more
We will go back but cannot recommande the place to friends
Dommage car la nourriture été parfaite

This was the first time we have eaten and only went because it was rated as 5 stars however we will never go back. We were celebrating Valentine’s Day and my birthday. We were staying in Williamsburg for a few days to celebrate. Our server was horrible. The server never explained the dishes and wanted us to decide on our dessert before we ordered dinner. The server never asked if we wanted something to drink (we don’t drink alcohol) but he should have asked if we wanted something more than water. It took forever to get our dessert and tables that ordered after us got their dessert before we did. While the ambience was nice, the food was so-so and the service just ridiculous. Did not measure up for what we expected by the reviews.

LeYaca receives our number 1 vote for ambiance, food quality/creativeness and service! We love lunch, brunch and dinner times. The perfect place for our special occassions. This time was to celebrate Lorettas birthday. Thank you for continuing to offer French cuisine in Williamsburg all these years!
Continued success,

My significant other and I enjoy coming to Le Yaca for date nights. We always request to be seated with Charles. He is always respectful and pleasant each and every visit. He is definitely one of the highlights of coming to Le Yaca. The food was great as always; it was all around a lovely date. We thank Charles for making it even more pleasant.

Sunday brunch was wonderful, as was the service. We have been here before for dinner and it was great also. We drove 80 miles to come again. It was worth the drive!!

We went here for belated Valentine's Celebration. We had the three course meal which offered ample selections, all sounded great. Each item was better than the last. The lobster was fantastic. We did order the special desert which took 20 minutes and had to be ordered at the beginning of the meal. So glad we did. We loved it so much we came back for brunch the next day after church. We have found a new favorite place, thank you!

This is our second time going here. We came for Valentines weekend. The first time we went, in October 2017, for my wife's birthday and had a wonderful experience. This time was much different. We were sat in a different part of the restaurant and it was chilly, we both sat at our table with our coats on for most of the meal. While the service was ok, it was not what I expected from a restaurant at this price point. Finally, I got sick later that night and was in bed the next day. We do like this restaurant, however, if we have another experience like this one we would not go back again or recommend it to our friends.

Best place we have found in Williamsburg and it's not even close. Great food, attentive service, beautiful decor. It was a bit more formal than we expected, but not stuffy. Lots of options to fit different budgets; from the casual bistro menu to a fixed price (good deal) to the chefs tasting menu at top $$.

We enjoyed both the menu offerings and the special entrees very much. Both my wife's fish and my lamb were cooked prefect to our request. The sauces that accompanied both dishes were excellent. As were the seasonal vegetables. My wife was very pleased with her "true" French onion soup and was pleased to see it wasn't a cheese top encased bowl. The service was excellent without interfering in our conversation or dining. We would highly recommend Le Yaca

The food was excellent and seating accommodations were comfortable. We did not feel crowded. The food was delicious but somewhat uninspired. Service was a bit spotty but they were packed for Valentines Day, so it was understandable. We asked to be moved -- and they promptly accommodated -- because we were right under a heat vent that felt like we were in a sauna.

As always, Ming is a world-class server, and the food would be right at home in any top tier restaurant in France. No wonder Le Yaca has so many "regulars," including us.
