Le Yaca began in 1964 in Courchevel, a tiny, country village in the French Alps. Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans, they told the hopeful restaurateurs they were crazy to think people would drive eight kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner. Daniele and Gerard hesitated for three months and then decided, “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “il n’y a qu’a le faire,” which basically means, “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag, but the name caught on with customers who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States and opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg. Daniel Abid bought Le Yaca in 2001. Daniel worked and trained in such prestigious places as “Le Pre Catelan” and “Lenotre” in Paris; “L’Amandier” and “Roger Verge," and to top it all off, “Alain Ducasse.”

    This is the third time we’ve eaten at Le Yaca and it is truly amazing each and every time. The staff are very friendly, professional, and accommodating. The ambience is elegant and romantic. The food is incredible, no matter what you order. We look forward to our meals there every tine we’re in Williamsburg. It always exceeds our expectations.

    The young man that was our server was extremely professional and knowledgeable. Escargot beautifully presented, full of garlic and delicious. Country French onion soup was thick with onion and flavor. Cream of cauliflower soup was wonderful. Supreme du Poulet, boeuf et crevettes, filet au poivre and tournedos rossini were all wonderful- perfectly seasoned and served with tasty sides. I only wish we could return to this gem of a restaurant time and time again!

    My absolute favorite restaurant! This was a birthday brunch date for me with my husband. The Sunday brunch is fantastic, from first cocktail to dessert.

    Wonderful spot for a special occasion. Entrees were delicious and the desserts exceptional ~ especially the Creme Brulee and Chocolate Truffle Cake with Sorbet. Le Yaca made our 40th anniversary special with fun extras like chocolate stir sticks printed with "Happy Anniversary" and two unexpected champagne drinks with a red liqueur to match the 40th ruby anniversary theme. The Ruby Red cocktail was also fun with a mini snow ball, like a snow cone :)

    Every time we come to Williamsburg we go to La Yaca's at least once. It's definitely one of our favorite restaurants in the whole USA. The brunch is much more than a brunch, definitely more sophisticated. And their lunch menu is fantastic. The service is always attentive and friendly and the decor classy and comfortable.

    Wonderful!! Everyone was super welcoming and attentive. Took extra care of my parents who were Celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Added extras like champagne and chocolate dessert tag. We will definitely go again!

    It’s always wonderful at Le Yaca. The steak tartare and the crab cake are the best in the area. (Note: call ahead to be sure they will have steak tartare!)

    This restaurant is a special jewel in Williamsburg Va. The food ,the service and the ambiance were all off the charts. Our server, Alexio was a fine young man that went out of his way to make our meal extra special.

    We had plenty of time thru each step of the meal. The waiter was patient, highly professional and considerate. Food was excellent, served hot and tasted excellent. Table was cleared in a timely, but not rushed manner.

    We haven’t been in a couple years, but it was outstanding. Charles was our waiter and he has been there a long time. He knows exactly how to help and improve the experience without being a guest for dinner. The food was perfectly prepared and served timely and properly. We live the place and recommend it often.

    Somehow ended up in the wine room for brunch and had it all to ourselves, which was an added bonus. The food was well-prepared and served promptly (but with enough time between courses). All in all, a filling meal that lasted nearly all day. Worth every penny!

    We only get to Le Yaca once or twice a year, but we stop whenever we are in the area. Everyone from the General Manager through the bussers are outstanding. The prices are also excellent, considering the quality and quantity of the food and drinks!

    Always wonderful. Wait staff are extremely attentive. Food offerings have always been delicious and very interesting as well as very attractive presentation. We always enjoy seeing Ming even of he is not our waiter.

    I had a friend visiting from Phoenix AZ. He is a bit of a foodie and I wanted a nice quiet place where we could catch up on old times while enjoying a delicious meal. This restaurant did not disappoint!! Perfectly prepared dishes delivered to the table by professional staff. Very impressive!!

    We dine at La Yaca twice a year and as usual the food, service and ambience was outstanding. We always ask for Gail to wait our table and is always outstanding. It is expensive but considering the quality it is worth it especially for a special occasion.

    Food and service were top notch. Both my husband and I ordered from one of the prix options. 3 courses was plenty of food and delicious. Ambience lighting was a bit bright for dinner but all in all a wonderful dinner!

    We came for our anniversary dinner. The food was excellent. Our waiter was terrific and let us take our time as we enjoyed each dish. My wife loved the onion soup and her shrimp risotto. I had the halibut with mashed potatoes. It was delicious. And they served us special desserts and champagne to celebrate our anniversary. A lovely restaurant and superb staff!

    If you’re looking for traditional French food, this will be disappointing. The French onion soup is more like thick beef bullion with croutons and shredded cheese on top. The Dover Sole is a dry white fish on a bed of spinach with melted butter on the side. The duck confit was dry. We were both very disappointed, especially for the price.
