>Le Virtu Cucina Abruzzese in Philadelphia is bringing the culinary tradition and philosophy of Abruzzo to the surrounding community. Abruzzo is Italys most unspoiled area with bold and unpretentious cuisine created by the local fishers and farmers and Le Virtu is recreating those delicacies with locally sourced meat and produce with rare artisanal ingredients being imported straight from Abruzzo.
A unique menu that pulls from sea and mountain sources provides savory combinations that will not disappoint. The pasta at Le Virtu is handmade in house and the meat is slow cooked to perfection. For example, the maccheroni alla mugnaia is a hand pulled single strand of pasta tossed in garlic and extra virgin olive oil with hot pepper and pecorino.
Great food, great people
Another outstanding dinner. Already rebooked for 2 weeks later. If we can’t go to Italy, we might as well eat here!!
Great food and drinks! Small portions !
COVID continues to challenge how we live and work. Creativity is at an all time high, citywide. Nonetheless, they persist. Cathy and Francis continue to deconstruct and reinvent their offerings. Brunch in their beautiful courtyard? YES PLEASE! Skillet delights with homemade sausage, peppers, veggies; Porchetta delights; Mimosas and Bloody Marias and Marys. Dessert is a must. We will not spoil the surprises. Wait staff on point. Make the visit, you will not be disappointed! Mangiare cibo delizioso!
Beautiful outdoor space and music.
Lovely place.. food was amazing! Service was awesome..cant wait to go back!
All went well. Egg Portions were a bit small. Else perfect.
The outside area is spacious and very nice - each table has their own individual heater and even though it was a cold night (high 40’s) we were nice and toasty. The pasta is delicious, good wine selection, and you must save room fir dessert. The orange almond cake with dark chocolate is amazing. Love this place
Excellent food and service Tuesday BYOB. Please visit this place once.
Our first night out since the pandemic. Service was comfortable and relaxed. Really enjoyed our time!
We have eaten often at Le Virtu and never had a bad meal. We ate brunch this time around outdoors on their beautiful patio. This is among the absolute best set ups for outdoor dining in the city. A state of the art heating system. Safe distancing. Protection provided from wind and rain. the food, as usual was superb. Their bloody may is as good as it gets in Philly. My wife had the veggie panini and I had the giambotta. The gelato is homemade.
The best Italian restaurant in the city. Make that one of the best restaurants in the city period.
We had a lovely time. Food was delicious!
Le Virtu's observance of Covid safety protocols is impeccable. As is everything else about this place.
This place is awesome. The staff is super friendly. We sat outside in the courtyard where they had heaters to keep warm. The pasta was SO FRESH. It literally tasted like they just made the pasta fresh hours beforehand. I had the special, which was lasagna, and it was so good. They also had a band there playing soft music in the background. Awesome place, definitely recommend.
Delicious pasta, arancini and desserts and great service!
The food was good, but the outdoor dining was a really poor experience. The food was cold almost instantly and the wait staff was not willing to move the heaters for us even though they were put around empty tables.
This is one of the owners, Francis Cretarola. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the experience. Outdoor dining in these climes is fraught, but we're doing our best. There are 9 infrared heaters covering every reservable table. Their size and the wiring they require, means they are in fixed positions. 3 are not bolted, but must be plugged in at outlets that can handle their load. Which is why they remain where they are. Our staff didn't refuse your request. There was no way to move the heaters.
My favorite restaurant in the city. The food is exceptional; the owner and staff are friendly and welcoming. They were fortunate to have a large patio area that is now tented with heaters available for outside dining. Very special place.
It was great in garden outside.
Their brunch is soo good! Especially the brioche with gelato. And they do a fabulous job of making you feel safe dining there.
We had an excellent meal with a nice variety of seasonal dishes and classics. The wine list is excellent, and service was warm and prompt.
We were promptly seated upon our reservation time - the staff was a wonderful mix of playful and professional which made the experience great! It was quite slow when we arrived but gradually became busier throughout the night, but the food was coursed perfectly and the service was great! Every dish was presented beautifully and tasted wonderful! I hope to come back soon!
Food and service was great! Amazing Sunday supper deal Sunday and Monday nights! Best outdoor setup with headlamps in Philly. Best option for COVID era of dinning.
Wonderful food with great service and a convivial ambience.
Brunch at Le Virtu was excellent! The food was delicious, the service was attentive and everyone was so nice and friendly. Eating outside in the garden was really great!
Once again, Le Virtu didn't disappoint. We had a wonderful meal! Love the atmosphere. Can't wait to go again!
Food is always fabulous but it tasted better than ever this time.
I can’t stop thinking about Le Virtu! The outdoor seating was magical and felt like being in someone’s garden. The Brodetto was one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. Perfect seafood and delicious bread to soak up every bite. We almost fought over the green beans that were “supposed to be” shared. Reasonable pricing for absolute excellent food and service. Truly a standout in one of the best restaurant cities!
Le Virtu is an incredible restaurant on Passyunk Avenue. Their gorgeous private patio is spacious and warm, with fantastic landscaping and a scenic mural. Service is impeccable and the food is unparalleled. Can't wait to go back!
I had a lovely time with a friend. We felt safe and service was great!
We went to Le Virtu last Saturday. They only have outdoor dining but there were the heat lamps so that was okay. I had the pasta smaller portion as an appetizer and it was very good. Their pastas always are. The entree was a special pork dish that night and I did not care for it it was tough and chewy I had to ask for a steak knife to cut it and it was still a challenge. I'm finding many restaurants have smaller menus now because of covert so many of the things online you see for instance as an entree will not be on the smaller menus I was looking for duck or lamb shank but neither one were on the shorter menu.
Croquettes were a bit salty. We ordered bitter greens because we didn’t think the entree would have a vegetable side but the entree had the exact same combination as a side. Wish the server would have told us that when we ordered!
Our first time eating there and a new favorite restaurant!!!!!
Delicious food in an enjoyable setting. The outdoor dining is set up safely and comfortably with attentive staff.
Excellent venue given the pandemic atmosphere we are living in. The restaurant did an excellent job to follow safety guidelines and meet all of our needs. The food was outstanding and the proper portions. However the only concern is the prices of the drinks -- both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks were severely overpriced and clearly how the restaurant is making up for the profits lost during the forced Covid closures.
Would highly recommend going to the restaurant but do not partake in alcoholic beverage and you can save over 45% on your bill
Perfect during the pandemic. Beautiful outside space.
Great as always. Great place to go to to celebrate our first dining out experience.
Loved the food, the waitstaff was outstanding, and i felt safe in the environment. Completely enjoyable experience!!
This was a special occasion for us. We were celebrating 2 birthdays, and having our first dinner at a restaurant since the covid shutdown. The outdoor space was lovely. To protect diners, the restaurant has erected tent top coverings that would shelter diners from rain. Because the outdoor space is also sheltered by buildings on 3 sides, the space was very comfortable, and not noisy, since we were several feet from the traffic on the street. The tables were well spaced for social distancing. The food was delicious, and hearty. The 4 of us represented a wide spectrum, from adventurous eaters, to picky. We all found something on the menu to enjoy. The food is Italian, but not red sauce centric. We thought the wine list was fairly priced, and had good selections. There are wines by the glass available. One of our party had a cocktail, which was made with bitters made in-house. This is a favorite destination for us.
$35 Sunday/Monday Supper is the way to go. Impressive portions and entire party enjoyed their meals. Great service and plenty of outdoor seating.
