>Le Virtu Cucina Abruzzese in Philadelphia is bringing the culinary tradition and philosophy of Abruzzo to the surrounding community. Abruzzo is Italys most unspoiled area with bold and unpretentious cuisine created by the local fishers and farmers and Le Virtu is recreating those delicacies with locally sourced meat and produce with rare artisanal ingredients being imported straight from Abruzzo.
A unique menu that pulls from sea and mountain sources provides savory combinations that will not disappoint. The pasta at Le Virtu is handmade in house and the meat is slow cooked to perfection. For example, the maccheroni alla mugnaia is a hand pulled single strand of pasta tossed in garlic and extra virgin olive oil with hot pepper and pecorino.

Le Virtu has been on my restaurant list for a while. I’m unsure if it was an off night, but it was an underwhelming experience. The taccozelle lacked flavor beyond cream and would’ve benefited from some fresh pepper. The truffle wasn’t noticeable. The server also seemed a bit overwhelmed by how many tables there were. I know many who frequent here and love it every time. I’m wondering if other menu items are better?
The staff and their timing was perfect. The food was the best we’ve had in Philly. Wine and cocktail offerings were all exceptional. We couldn’t have chosen a better restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. Everything was perfect.
Excellent meal and very clean and friendly service.
Outdoor seating lovely, comfortable, and safe. Food was excellent. Service attentive but unobtrusive.
We were the only people seated and most of us had the carbonara which was delicious and so filling. No room for dessert. It was lovely to eat out under cover on their patio and the service was great!
Excellent food and the patio is a nice place to dine.
Food and ambiance was amazing, however, service was a bit slow
tasty seasonings/ quality fish/ well prepared
relaxed atmosphere under tent
fair pricing/ worth a return
We took full advantage of our server's knowledge of the wine list and were not disappointed by the recommendations. A long, well-paced lovely formal dinner.
Great food! Great service! I would highly recommend this restaurant for brunch! The breakfast carbonate is unbelievable!
Beautiful outdoor dining space. Amazing food all around.
Outside dining is key! Set up is fantastic
My wife and I enjoyed our 30th anniversary tonight with a wonderful meal and a caring, friendly staff. We've eaten many milestone meals here as well as more casual ones. Each one leaves us feeling good about the world - and stuffed!
Great food, specifically the Brodetto and also the house made pappardelle! Sara who was brand new to the serving aspect of the job was a gem from the Abruzzo region of Italy as well. Every detail to keep authentic to the Abruzzo region has been meticulously thought of. Perfetto!! Grazie!!
Consistently great service and delicious food. Beautiful outdoor garden
The food is prepared with great care-the menu matters to them as they ar authentic to their home town region in Italy. The setting is natural and gives each table enough space to enjoy themselves without feeling like they are bothering others. The prices were on the low side of mid-range and the portions more than fair. The pasta was melt in your mouth homemade. Specials were actually special.
We had a perfect meal and will go back with a bigger party.
Everything from antipasti to secondi and main course was fantastic including desserts will be back !
Staff wonderful, food delicious
Our party of four found parking on the west side of Broad. No problem. We were seated within 10 minutes of our reservation time. Not bad for a Saturday night. The seating was friendly. The service was very attentive. We enjoyed a bottle of chianti at a fair price and shared several appetizers, including the arugula, the lamb skewers and the burrata. . . The main dishes met expectations. The ambiance was * and we REALLY enjoyed the lively live music when we arrived. Only sorry that it ended so early. Looking forward to going back to Le Virtu another time. . .
Best meal of 2021– everything we ordered was amazing, beautiful setting and great music
Wonderful informal atmosphere, terrific food -- great place.
We ate in the outdoor patio, it was lovely. Felt very quiet and secluded from street noise. The food was excellent.
Le Virtu is one of the best restaurants in the city and I couldn't recommend it more highly.
Food good, waiter could have been a little bit more attentive
Food consistently good. Outdoor seating quiet and romantic. Highly recommend
Some of the chairs on the outdoor space become very uncomfortable by the end of the meal.
Very nice, quiet outdoor space. Neighborhood parking available but streets are busy. Food is great.
The meal, service, atmosphere and covid safety were all top notch. Could not have had a better meal and felt safer anywhere in the city. I have been eating here consistently for over 12 years and it amazes me that each time I am pleasantly surprised that it gets better with age! Can’t wait to eat there again soon!
As always outstanding in every way. You cannot be the location and outdoor seating with impeccable food.
Le Virtu never fails! The food is consistently excellent and innovative, service is accommodating and pleasant, and the ambience of the outdoor area is unparalleled in the city!
Excellent food. Excellent wine. Excellent service. Excellent setting. The end.
Le Virtu does not disappoint. Always excellent: food (choices, preparation, plating), ambience (the garden is fabulous!), and attentive-casual service.
Place was great on a Monday. The cheese board was amazing (ask for bread and extra apples). There were not a lot of people so the heating lamps served us well. The drinks were great. I’d recommend any day of the week.
Incredibly authentic and first rate service. A great experience from start to finish
We were seated outside, where there were heaters to make it more comfortable. We were a little chilled at first, but the heaters definitely helped. It's more on the expensive side than the modern side, but the food was very good, and it felt like a virtual travel experience since the food was from the Abruzza region of Italy. The soup for which the restaurant is named is hearty and yummy; I recommend that if you go the right time of year. (We went for Mother's Day, and I believe the waiter told us it was a May soup.)
My family and I absolutely love this restaurant!!! It is a go to for us for special holidays..
Loved! Great Mother’s Day lunch! 💕
So delicious! Perfect ambiance! Felt very safe as far as pandemic procedures, etc.
Dinner was delicious and our service was wonderful. The outside courtyard is romantic with live music. We really enjoyed celebrating our anniversary at Le Virtu.
As a couple we usually order 3 courses & split all three.
For starters we lived dangerously and ordered 2 fried items: Arancini and stuffed olives--both great. The risotto inside the Arancini was still light & flavorful and not greasy. The olives were a real surprise--one order was 6-8 mouthfuls of flavor.
The gnocchi was perfect as usual.
We tried the Brodetto (a seafood stew) and it was outstanding with mussels, shrimp & fish in a red broth with toasted bread for dipping. Excellent!
And the outdoor patio is still a treat instead of the little temporary(?) units a many places.
