>Le Virtu Cucina Abruzzese in Philadelphia is bringing the culinary tradition and philosophy of Abruzzo to the surrounding community. Abruzzo is Italys most unspoiled area with bold and unpretentious cuisine created by the local fishers and farmers and Le Virtu is recreating those delicacies with locally sourced meat and produce with rare artisanal ingredients being imported straight from Abruzzo.
A unique menu that pulls from sea and mountain sources provides savory combinations that will not disappoint. The pasta at Le Virtu is handmade in house and the meat is slow cooked to perfection. For example, the maccheroni alla mugnaia is a hand pulled single strand of pasta tossed in garlic and extra virgin olive oil with hot pepper and pecorino.
Excellent food. Excellent wine. Excellent service. Excellent setting. The end.
Le Virtu does not disappoint. Always excellent: food (choices, preparation, plating), ambience (the garden is fabulous!), and attentive-casual service.
Place was great on a Monday. The cheese board was amazing (ask for bread and extra apples). There were not a lot of people so the heating lamps served us well. The drinks were great. I’d recommend any day of the week.
Incredibly authentic and first rate service. A great experience from start to finish
We were seated outside, where there were heaters to make it more comfortable. We were a little chilled at first, but the heaters definitely helped. It's more on the expensive side than the modern side, but the food was very good, and it felt like a virtual travel experience since the food was from the Abruzza region of Italy. The soup for which the restaurant is named is hearty and yummy; I recommend that if you go the right time of year. (We went for Mother's Day, and I believe the waiter told us it was a May soup.)
My family and I absolutely love this restaurant!!! It is a go to for us for special holidays..
Loved! Great Mother’s Day lunch! 💕
So delicious! Perfect ambiance! Felt very safe as far as pandemic procedures, etc.
Dinner was delicious and our service was wonderful. The outside courtyard is romantic with live music. We really enjoyed celebrating our anniversary at Le Virtu.
As a couple we usually order 3 courses & split all three.
For starters we lived dangerously and ordered 2 fried items: Arancini and stuffed olives--both great. The risotto inside the Arancini was still light & flavorful and not greasy. The olives were a real surprise--one order was 6-8 mouthfuls of flavor.
The gnocchi was perfect as usual.
We tried the Brodetto (a seafood stew) and it was outstanding with mussels, shrimp & fish in a red broth with toasted bread for dipping. Excellent!
And the outdoor patio is still a treat instead of the little temporary(?) units a many places.
Place is a 10. Great staff, the food and ambiance never disappoints. A staple on east passyunk avenue. One of phillys best outdoor dining experiences.
Have been going to Le Virtu for many years and will keep going back.
Consistently amazing food. Kindly responsive to my food sensitivities (I have Coeliac) while serving 100% authentic Abruzzi regional cuisine. This place is magic.
Le Virtu has the outdoor dining experience that is the best. And the food was terrific! Thanks to everyone there
Le Virtu is always a romantic, relaxing, special, and delicious experience.
Every thing was made to perfection ❤️
Beautiful outdoor space! Perfect Sunday brunch!
Lovely evening and wonderful food. Staff were friendly and helpful. Is there anything more to say?
Le Virtu is always great and has not missed a beat during the pandemic.
Amazing food, amazing ambience, amazing service. I went with my boyfriend and his best friend for his birthday dinner (our first restaurant outing since the pandemic) and had an exquisite time. Days later I'm still thinking about the pasta.
Great spot on E. Passyunk. Outstanding food and beverages. Love the courtyard outdoor dining. Already looking forward to returning soon!
As always, the food was phenomenal! We were very spread out and in the very corner of the courtyard, so I felt very safe. It was a lovely night out!
So welcoming, delicious, creative and truly regional Italian food that all types of folks will enjoy
Very interesting and tasty dishes. The Monk Fish was delicious. Really enjoyed the broccoli rab homemade pasta dish.
We enjoyed the live music and heated outside patio area. Delicious cheese course and Insalata. All four of us enjoyed our entrees and the wine recommendation was great. We really enjoyed our second visit to Le Virtu.
The ambiance was great, just a bit overpriced for what you get. The waiter was very helpful with wine selection and the days special.
My second time there both times the server acted like he was doing me a favor. Not friendly service at all! Also it was freezing and they were sitting people nowhere near the heaters. Food is delicious but expensive.
Great food and staff. I always enjoy coming here.
Great outdoor space, covid safe, and great food. One of our favourites
Always wonderful food and service. One of our very favorite places, especially the gorgeous patio.
It was a wonderful Saturday birthday brunch with my family. From the opening greeting when they opened the gate to seat us in the outdoor dining area until we left our table, we enjoyed our time in your restaurant. Everyone was welcoming and the food and drinks were delicious.. everything you could tell was prepared with care. They even read my note when I placed the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday. Thanks to LeVirtu for a wonderful dining experience. We’ll be back soon...
Food and setting are perfect. Nice, quiet, and intimate.
This was the best possible first visit back to a restaurant after a 13-month pandemic hiatus, while still being cautious. Their outdoor garden is terrific - secluded and beautiful, and there was pleasant live music. Service was excellent - very attentive. The food was - as usual for Le Virtù - very authentically Abbruzzese and very good. We had mussels, arrancini, burrata, gnocchi al ragu, pappardelle, and the arugula-pear salad. We finished with some excellent - and hard-to-find - grappas!
Good food. Pleasant covered outdoor patio with heaters and live music which greatly contributed to ambience.
A wonderful outdoor dining environment with above average food. I especially enjoyed the lamb shank.
Service was attentive without being obnoxious or solicitous
Great meal and outdoor space. Warm and caring service.
The food and service was wonderful as always. It was great to finally get out to a fine restaurant. The outdoor dining space was perfect.
Always a great time at Le Virtu. Outside patio is one of the best spots to eat in South Philly. Our food was excellent. I think it is the pasta in town. Our server AZ was fantastic. He had great recommendations and was very attentive. Thank you for a great evening!
Ate our Easter Dinner on Le Virtu’s patio, and it was just amazing! The staff was considerate and safe, and the food was superb. Highly recommend Le Virtu!
