We had an excellent meal consisting of fish, salad and dessert, they had excellent wines by the glass, the service was spotty perhaps it was an off night. The place is comfortable and calm.

This is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant with authentic French food. The food is creative and delicious. This most recent visit was unfortunate in that our server was not very good. But overall this is a place to go for a great meal.

This restaurant has been around almost 40 years & has a new owner for the past 4. He has brought great life to the menu. I feel like I am back in France with every bite. Just wonderful!!

A LOVELY EXPERIENCE WITH DELICIOUS FRENCH FOOD. WE ENJOYED A INTIMATE MEAL BUILT AROUND THE CLASSICS OF FRENCH CUISINE IN A VERY ROMANTIC ENVIRONMENT - IT COULD HAVE BEEN IN ANY PART OF FRANCE.

Haven't been there in years! It was good but not great considering the price. The presentation disguised the mediocrity of the food. Our waiter was very nice, he was training a young lady & was very patient with her, she was very attentive.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary expecting solid food plus good service and value and our expectations were surpassed on all fronts. We had the fixed price meal and were able to sample each others selections. Not one bad dish in the lot. The waiter was highly professional and confidently recommended a Bordeaux which added to the excellent experience The clientele were older and the ambience was perhaps a bit too sedate for my liking-- quite old school and fitting the name re an established inn. We could have been in the south of France in many respects. Not a place to find an edgy experience, but more a solid place to eat wonderful food in a comfortable classic environment.

We moved from the area almost 20 years ago and this was a return visit while in Bethesda. Found the food, atmosphere, and service were as solid as ever. This time my wife and I were part of the grey-haired clientele that we used to comment about when we dined their. Classic food that I hope never goes out of style!

Enjoyed our meal until the end when my husband bit into a little metallic/wiry piece of something, possibly from those curly steel scouring pad. Service was very good and the manager was apologetic and offered us free dessert for next time. We won't be going back, just not the same after that.

The restaurant is small but very charming. They sat us right away and we had appetizers and wine. The food was nicely prepared and delicious for French cuisine. At the end the noise level got little loud only because it was special restaurant week. Enjoyed evening very much and would recommend to friends who like French cusisine.

We've been a number of times thru the years for special occasions(birthdays, anniversaries). Was sad to see the change in ownership. Only noticeable change was the amount of tchotchkes collected over the years in the dining room. The new owner has maintained the overall quality & ambiance. Food has always been good. Menu has been paired down a little without any loss of quality. Service was impeccable. Our waiter seems to have been there forever. Definitely worth a return visit.

Ok but not great. No valet despite being told existed. Prices higher than food warrants. $52 as market price for mediocre Dover sole makes no sense.

We celebrated our friend's 80th birthday. The ambiance was warm and attractive. We had salads for appetizers and for the main course we had Dover Sole and Duck Comfit in Orange Sauce. The presentations were lovely and the food itself was outstanding. Our Server was wonderful. He was knowledgeable, had a good sense of humor and was not intrusive.

We will definitely return.

We eat here regularly if not frequently, and always say we should come more often. The food is always excellent and the service is warm, properly timed, and attentive. My soft-shell crabs almondine were big, flavorful, and beautifully presented. So hard to choose from the attractive menu. The wine list is carefully curated and varied.

Excellent provincial French cuisine in a cozy, friendly setting. Lots of local regulars and a convivial staff. Took my daughter here for a post-10th grade celebration dinner and it couldn't have been nicer. The $35 prix fixe (appetizer, main course and dessert) has got to be one of the best meal values anywhere in DC. Highly recommend the steak frites!

This restaurant GEM, is largely undiscovered. My wife, Shelby, and occasionally grandson, Cameron, always enjoy the whole package of great, but casual dining here. Cameron loves the duck, Shelby the escargot, and I the daily specials. Don't tell too many friends about this restaurant "find" as we wouldn't want to overcrowd this lovely place!

Just a weekend night out with a date but I really like quiet restaurants where I'm not on top of the group next to me, I can converse without shouting, and where I can sit next to my date. Le Vieux fills the bill. Tasty cuisine, friendly staff, sound service, and fairly intimate surroundings.
