About Le Vallauris

Established in the heart of Palm Springs since 1973, Le Vallauris located at the foot of San Jacinto Mountains has been the highest rated restaurant in the Palm Springs Valley since its inception. Owned and operated by the well known restaurateur Paul Bruggemans who was also owner of the Famous Le St Germain restaurant in Hollywood. The Historic Landmark was built in 1927 and was owned by the owners of the famous Desert Inn which was The hotel in the Valley. Many grand parties were held in the house for guests such as Duke Ellington, Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong and many more. It was a favorite place for General Patton when he was based in Palm Springs to stage the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. Later on, when the restaurant was established it became a favorite place for Presidents and the Hollywood elite. The renowned Patio lined with Giant Fichus trees is THE place to dine. The Patio is cooled in the Summer and heated in the Winter.

This is a very mixed review. First upon arriving the maitre dei was very confused by their reservation system and told us the rest of our party had not yet arrived when they had and we stood in the lobby until another waiter came by and told us the table was already seated. Strike one.

When we were at the table there were four people who came by the table each having a specific job and told us it was not their job when we asked them something that was not part of their job description. A overly defined division of labor. It was very confusing on who we could order drinks from. Also wine could only be ordered from the sommelier who reminded me of Uncle Festus from the Addams Family. He was very snooty when we settled on a $45 bottle of wine and not one at $90+. Strike two.

When finally they straightedge out and we had identified the person we were allowed to order from, things styled down a bit. What caused some tenting was tgat the menu is written in a white board they rake around to each table to view before they take it away yo another table. The process seemed rushed.

Now for the food. My wife had lobster bisque. One of her davorites and she knows her bisque. She was very disappounted. No lobster in the bisque and very little lobster flavor. The rest of us had crab cake on polenta and it was fabulous. Lots of crab on the cake and the polenta was smooth and rich. Two order the fixed priced cod, I ordered the lobster ravioli and my wife a beef filet. We all liked our dinners very nuch except the potatoes on my wife's plate were very undone. Deserts were very good.

While this resturant is quite expensive, the food was generally pretty good, service was very strange and unorganized. The environment was cry nice. The patio was nicely decorated and seasonal. Not sure I'd go back.

I have been going to this restaurant for over 10 years now and love the ambiance and service. Always top notch. Usually, the food is as well. On this visit, I would have to say I was very disappointed with the food all around. Nothing was outstanding and in fact, the cod was a mess and frankly needs a total revamp. The crab cake was a huge disappointment and my friend's oysters were not overly fresh, nor was the ahi tuna. Sometimes you have to take the good with the not so good, but I have come to expect better from Le Vallauris and would hope things improve on our next visit.

Le Vallauris is always a special dining experience. The food is always wonderful as is the staff. In fifteen years I have never had a bad experience. This is a restaurant you want to go to for that special evening where you leave feeling wonderful.

You can't go wrong with Le Vallauris.
It continues to be a top notch restaurant and very friendly waiters who know how to please customers with details.
The martinis are some of the best in the valley.

The outdoor patio was a romantic spot for a lovely dinner. Service was friendly and attentive, not stuffy or overbearing. Meal selections included country pate, fois gras, whitefish, & lobster ravioli. The fois gras was fabulous, country pate and whitefish were very good; but ravioli was disappointing. The raviolis were tasty in a somewhat heavy cream sauce, but the generous portion did not compensate for the dry, chewy lobster claw meat that tasted like they were reheated. Not what you would expect for the price.

Paul has always given the best and provided a great value. His restaurant has give me many wonderful gustatory memories. This is the place that you find the things you can not make at home. The food, service and atmosphere is beyond the limitations of the survey check boxes. (AND very reasonable prices.)

This is haute cuisine, with old fashioned service (and some menu items..). You can't ask for anything better in term of food quality, professional service and lovely surroundings. Very comprehensive wine list.

We love to go to Le Vallauris when we are in Palm Springs. We have been going there for over 30 years - it was our parents' favorite restaurant. This time we went with our daughter and granddaughter - age 6. Luckily, our granddaughter likes food such as smoked salmon, duck and profiteroles of course. We also had the Caesar salad, foie gras, sauteed lobster on gorgeous biscuits, perfectly cooked filet steak, and several wonderful desserts besides the profiteroles. Superior wine list of course. We had a great time!

It was our friends 50th. Anniversary, our guest sent the restaurant a floral centerpiece, they claimed it was never delivered. Also they forgot and had to be reminded of the 50th.
It was also another guests 85 birthday, the restaurant was informed when I made the dinner reservation, no acknowledgement.
We will never return.
Thank you

Whenever I head out to Palm Springs for a short vacation from Los Angeles, I always enjoy an incredible meal at Le Vallauris. The patio is always inviting. And the menu is always different. There is an incredible variety of appetizers as well as entrees that include chicken, fish and various meats. When I went for dinner I enjoyed the Stuffed Pear (pear stuffed with bleu cheese, walnuts end endive) and for my entree the Guinea Hen. Prices can be a bit steep at this fine French restaurant - but in my opinion, it's worth every penny!
