Le Souk Harem - Greenwich Village
Worst service. As soon as the music gets louder, the waiters don't come to check if everything is alright. We waited half an hour for checking out.
It was a good spot for a Birthday. Unfortunately, they sat us at a terrible location. We were next to this gross peeling wall. Otherwise, the food was great, the drinks were great, the waiter was very busy, but nice and checked on us when he could. He made sure our drinks were filled.
The food was good. The only problem with the Le Souk is the emphasis is on the Hooka bar and the club not the food. No one wants to eat a good meal and smell Hooka smoke. Just change the place to a club and let the Hooka Smokers eat and smoke. Such a disappointment. As a traveler from a state that doesn't have hooka bars or smoke inside this was a flashback to the 90s! Yuk.
Great time, great food, great music
I bought a Pulsd deal for an early dinner on a Sunday. They have two floors (only saw one floor). The floor I was on had about 6 tables it was small. You really could hear the conversation at the next table. They had a dj upstairs and it felt like a club (didn’t mind since it was 90s jams). The service was bad. One man had all the tables and had to go upstairs for water and that took forever. He seemed very overwhelmed. The food came from downstairs and I held my breath each time the man with 5 orders on his hands had to pass through the groups of people. The vibes were great. The food was great and were good portions. Would go again.
Terrible service, they treat you like crap really and when you complain nothing gets done anyway. Definitely never returning and advise everyone to not go there
Amazing Party brunch
Terrible. Would never go back. Waited 45 minutes after our reservation time. Manager did nothing to repair the situation (i.e. offer a mimosa as we waited). Just kept promising a table soon then disappearing 15 minutes at a time. Meanwhile there were empty tables the whole time we waited. They also don’t tell you a $4 cash required coat check for BRUNCH! Everyone is wasted and messy.
A friend and I had dinner here Friday night. We both got incredibly sick that night and the next day. Not sure if it was because of the food but it was a massive coincidence..
Overpriced and under delivered. Hostess asked me immediately what I wanted to order even when I mentioned that I was waiting for the other guest to arrive. She ignored that and proceeded to ask again even before I had a chance to sit down. The server couldn’t answer basic questions about the menu and all the while seemed to rush us. Instead of bringing me my food, the waiter asked if he should “fire up the grill for my steak”. I’ve never been to a restaurant where they take your order and then wait on you to tell them when to cook it. Overall, it seemed that the restaurant staff was more concerned about the club goers who were headed upstairs than the restaurant ones.
One piece of advice: save your money and go elsewhere.
Most of the tables are coffee table height, which is fine for tapas, hookah, or late night partying, but super annoying when trying to eat a real meal.
The bottomless brunch drinks are basically all mixer. Not worth the sugar head ache you'll get later, IMO.
The apple pancakes and shakshukah are delicious tho!
Fantastic! Really great ambiance, good & good service.
Over priced, overrated and overall a disappointment.
Our service was slow and the staff was overwhelmed servicing the parties going on upstairs. Then the huge party came and surrounded the steps to watch a belly dancer, which could’ve been done in the area they had. Not block the steps which is a major fire hazard.
Definitely a full blown party of you go for brunch. Music was good, the VIP tables in the back are the way to go if you don’t want to be in the middle of the crowded dance floor. Bathrooms are a no...pretty disgusting overall. but our server was amazing , kept our drinks flowing. I’d go again, not soon but definitely again.
The hostess was rude and didn’t communicate well especially with the snotty females around her so i decided to wait inside in which no one was around besides the one lady picking up calls placing reservations in which she did not have no time to attend my group of 4. After walking upstairs and with no one to really walk us through what to expect or where to wait i decided to leave the unorganized location and have brunch at sweet chicks
Had a great time with my friends. Music was awesome!
Had reservation for 2:45pm for 2; arrived at 2:15pm and hostess told us that we could wait at the bar(ordered moscow mules but did not have copper cups) until our table was ready...at 2:45pm they told us the table would be ready at 3pm. They gave us another round of drinks which was complimentary...by 3:45pm we were out the door because they just ignored us and focused on sitting the big parties. Total dissapointment!
The wait staff made my 30th birthday very special and accommodating. Ensuring that I would have the perfect birthday with a flashing sign of my name, bottle of champagne and a belly dancer at the table. I will definitely be back.
Made a reservation here for 5:45pm
There was a very loud party happening on the third floor. They put us at a table on the second floor where we could barely hear one another. The waiter who was nice enough came and informed us that the kitchen was on a break and food wouldn’t be served for 40 minutes or so. When we decided to move on the manager told us with disdain in his demeanor that they had just served 400 people for lunch and we should understand and just have a drink while waiting. A: How is that any of our business B: don’t take reservations if you can’t honor them. Poor management. We won’t be returning.
By far one of my favorite brunch spots and they always have great specials.
Service was slow and not the most attentive. We ended up getting okay service, but had to push for it. This is really more of a club/bar than a restaurant. Also, no Moroccan food on the menu when we went.
Even though it was dark and I could barely see my food . I had a great time , staff was quick with the drinks and polite .
Seemed like a great bottomless brunch deal on Pulsd - basically two for $35. However, they put you in the mezzanine floor where there's 5 tables and literally segregate Pulsd reservations to that small area. Probably do it so it looks busy while people are going upstairs. There employees forget about you there bc they're just running by to go upstairs. Food was OK, nothing special. I would give this place a fat thumbs down but it could be fun to try upstairs, maybe.
Absolutely terrible service. Two of the three of us ordered the bottomless brunch. After the first drink we never saw our waiter. We kept on having to flag down the hostess and other waiters to try and find him. We didn’t end up getting our second drink till after we were done eating. So not a good value. The one person in our group that didnt get bottomless didn’t drink at all got charged for the bottomless anyways. We tried to talk to the manager, but the place was so loud you couldn’t hear anything. Never in my life have I not left a tip. Should have made it clear that you have to get bottomless on the weekends. I really wanted to like this place, but their was one issue after another.
No one manning the bar.
Service was very spotty.
Food was not bad, just OK
Atmosphere was intriguing, but does not overcome the negatives.
Didn’t honor pulsd deal had to pay double the price. Horrible management.
Really awful food. Kitchen has gone downhill. Poor service—only one server and not attentive at all. Alcohol list half sold out. Only suitable for “clubby” hookah goers.
Unique dining spot with cool ambiance. I'd never been to a restaurant with hookah service!
Waited over 45 minutes and still did not get the drinks i ordered so i left. Not worth it.
Love brunch at Le Souk it’s always a great time and the guy on the violin is AMAZING
The Bellinis were great but most of the drinks are premade (brown mint in watered down mojito). The place is cute with the lights off but you can tell they put zero effort into upgrading or fixing the peeling wallpaper, stripped floors, or damaged booth seats. Its obvious this is a night scene type of place because its interior is severely damaged and in need of help ASAP or just stay closed until the night crowd.
The restaurant could use updating and cleaning but the food was good. The live music was amazing and distracted from the outdated ambiance.
The food was either slightly undercooked or extremely overlooked. The service was very poor and the waitress pretty much ignored us for the night.
The food and hookah were great. We sat outside on a nice summer night and the vibes were perfect. Will return.
This was my second time visiting Le Souk for brunch. Pros: apple pancakes were great, music/ambiance was energetic. Cons: poor service (waitress was not very attentive), mimosas tasted more like orange soda and were overly sweet. Fun spot if you want to do a party-vibe brunch, would not recommend for more casual dining.
Very limited food selection - barely anything Moroccan - very poor service - in your face - grabbed my plate before I was done - horrendous quality of ingredients - worst Malbec ever - not the place I remember from years ago...
Had to send our burger back because it came out rare but other than that, food was pretty good. Drinks are very average, just acceptable enough to get by.
The whole restaurant smelt like bathroom, except if you sit outside. The ambiance is strange and the service is very slow. Food is ok but really nothing to write home about. Such a shame it’s a really nice building and good location, they need to up the service, food and the scent of the whole restaurant.
Really cool space and vibrant brunch scene. Staff was friendly and our waitress was sweet and attentive. Food was nothing great - Mac & Cheese was pretty soupy and the chicken sandwich was rubbery. The waitress apologized and replaced it. The venue hasn't been touched up in years, and could use a good deep cleaning and some cosmetic touch ups, but it's definitely a good place for a boozy brunch with low expectations.
