Le Souk Harem - Greenwich Village Ratings and Reviews
This was the most awful experience in my life. So unprofessional!!!! We was never seated at all. I made reservations for the table at 1:30 p.m. the day before. They change the time to 2:00 p.m. without letting us know. The host took us upstairs and left us in the middle of the floor. We was getting shove, bump, drinks spilling, loud noise, and etc.. She told us to wait for 15 minutes because they was cleaning our table. 15 minutes turn into 30 minutes. 30 minutes turn into an 1 hour. 1 hour turn into hours. it was 3:45 p.m. and we still was not seated. The mangers was ignoring us. I kept addressing this issue to him he laughs and walk off I show him my open table receipt he still did not sit us. I felt like it was discrimination. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. This was our first time going to this brunch and never again.
The restaurant was great for my brunch with friends. Unfortunately, it became very crowded and clubby around 1:30 PM (on a Saturday), so we moved on to another place for quieter drinks. But the food was delicious and creative.
The staff was a bit inattentive to our table because several larger groups were on the floor, but when we did have a server's attention, we got good service. We just wished that they had been faster to refill our bottomless drinks. :-)
Wait staff was somewhat attentive, but disorganized. Salad, with dressing on the side, came with dressing mixed in. Waiter did not know that they were out of one of the standard entrees. Credit card machine was locked and it took 20 minutes to pay the bill.
Dining at Le Souk was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. I think this restaurant was less sanitary than restaurants I've been to in Marrakesh. Reasons why my experience was such a nightmare:
(1) We were seated next to a large and loud party that was at the end of their evening with bottle service. The waitstaff paid far more attention to that party than my own party. We did not receive our drinks or even water until our food was delivered to the table.
(2) Employees sat down at the mess of a table left by the bottle service party (after the party departed) and ate leftover food in full view of us and other diners. At least have the decency to take the food back to the kitchen and eat it out of view.
(3) Served me a clearly wrong order that was not worth correcting as it would have delayed my exit from that nightmare.
(4) The food was not good.
I strongly caution anyone from eating here. Go for hookah and maybe a drink, but don't go here to eat.
My reservation was for 12pm and arrived about 15 minutes early. I was not allowed to enter the establishment until 12pm and it was raining. The bathroom & dining areas were still being cleaned & the wait staff were still arriving. The place smelled like bleach. Besides this, the food was very tasty, the drinks were flowing for the boozy brunch and the music was pumping. I had the lamb burger and my mother had the egg omelette. The DJ was blasting 90s hip hop which was fun. I would definitely go here again, just not at 12pm.
The food was great, love their Truffle Mac & Cheese and their Shakshouka. The service was ok due to lack of attention. The management is rude. We asked for a simple question if we could be moved inside to enjoy Hookah services but they seem to be busy. We just needed a yes or no answer which they had said Yes we can wait at the bar and they will fix us the table. After about waiting for half and hour or so I went over to ask the manager if any was available yet. She had yelled back at us saying these people had reservations and you already had your reservation which you took on sitting outside. I told them that I understand that but they agreed to let us wait at the bar and will seat us when it’s available. OR they could simply just say No I’m sorry there are no available tables upstairs for you to move rather then saying Yes and wait at the bar then yelled at us after. Just really unprofessional and def would stop coming.
This restaurant was amazing. I was celebrating my birthday and it was so much fun. There was a belly dancer and even a violinist. It also turned into a club later on which was a plus. They were very accommodating even offered to replace some of our steaks which were undercooked despite having asked for well done ones. Our server was really nice and attentive. Overall loved it and would recommend it to anyone.
We went for dinner on a Saturday night. There was a DJ and some belly dancing. The food was very good and we overall had an amazing time. The music went back and forth between American to Moroccan music. I really liked the Moroccan music and would have liked there to be more of that.
I was grateful to have made my reservation in a place that was so special and wonderful. I had a great time with my family members. The food was truly amazing and tasteful, music was amazing little loud but was great music choices, the belly dancer was incredible and the service was impeccable. They did forget the fact we were celebrating a birthday which I enforced on my reservation and confirmed when I called but overall can't wait to go back.
This was our second time getting brunch here. We managed to get an outdoor table with our reservation, but had to wait half an hour until a server came to our table (the water pourer was very attentive, and we finally asked him to send our waiter over). After that, the service was much better, but presumably only because the server needed to come to us anyway when bringing our food, etc. Last time we were there, the server would really only talk to us if we flagged him down first. The drinks are OK for the most part (bloody Mary is horrible), and the food is good but not fantastic. It's a definite must-do if you can get the 2-hour bottomless brunch from Pulsd with outdoor seating in nice weather, but I would probably not recommend otherwise.
We made reservations for 1 am and confirmed on open table when we got there the girl asked for my DL & CC and told us it was bottle service only!
I informed her I made reservations on open table and it did not tell me it was bottle service! We were coming for our anniversary and willing to spend money but not bottle service for just us two as I wasn't gonna drink being 7 weeks pregnant.
Disappointed & don't think we will go there ever again. We ended up going somewhere else and spent our money at that establishment.
Le souk needs to fix their system and not have a 1 am time if they aren't honoring it! Horrible!
Tonight's experience was below average, our server was not familiar with the menu and when we ordered something from
the appetizers list he gave us confidence by saying that 'No one has ordered it but it should be ok'. The cocktail that followed was undrinkable, the dinner was unfortunately such a disappointment. When choosing moroccan you expect spices and flavors; everything was blend and the boring.
Save yourself from a bad dinner and go next door. As far as advice to management - choose your waist-staff better.
We visited Le Souk on a summer Sunday with a Pulsd voucher, which was not a problem... The only problem ended up trying to be served after 15minutes of being seated with no one tending to us.
After that hiccup, our waiter was friendly and on point. The food was delicious, hookah was great and the DJ killed it.
I think that it is really interesting that we would have never gone to this restaurant if I didn't buy a GROUPON. Yes, we probably saved a few $$ but what I like about GROUPONS is that it gets us to restaurants that are totally out of our immediate neighborhood and not a place that I would have found on my own. This was a really nice restaurant - we sat outside - it was a beautiful evening so I couldn't check off too many things because i never went inside. The GROUPON menu was excellent with very good choices. The food was delicious and our waiter was wonderful. We were very disappointed to discover that they were out of BAKLAVA only to be surprised at the end of the meal that they had just made more. AND boy - was it delicious.
So I would definitely recommend this restaurant for the food, the service and the value. I don't know how quickly we would go back - because we live in MIDTOWN and this was in The Village - but sometimes we go to The Bitter End and then I would definitely come here for dinner. Hubby says he would want to come back no matter what :)
There you go.
Worth the visit.
The offer is for brunch times 11-3 put they don't open until 12. Was the first party there and the service started out great, we were greeted and told to sit where we like cool! The service was a bit slow for my liking but they were trying. I enjoyed the margaritas and atmosphere, but there policy does not state they do not take cards without chips and I was using a bank card, I provided my ID and it appeared to still be an issue until my date took charge
Service was absolutely abysmal -- took half an hour to get a drink, water and bread arrived after the meal was already done, and wait staff ignored us for about an hour. Manager came at the end of the meal to try and set things right by offering dessert for free, but then the dessert never came.
I was hesitant after reading the reviews, but everyone's experience is always different. Therefore, we decided to give this restaurant a shot. We chose outside seating to enjoy the nice day. Their service was prompt and we did not have to wait long for our food or drinks. In the past, their might have been a reason for the bad reviews, but we were satisfied.
The food was delicious however the service was not good. We were there for brunch with the bottomless drinks and we had to ask five different people each time we wanted a refill . 20 minutes after asking every person who came by,we would finally get our one drink filled.
We had a fantastic birthday dinner at Le Souk. We sat in the patio away from the loud music and club atmosphere which was a wise decision! Lamia our server was beyond fantastic and made sure we had a lovely time. The chef's tasting was amazing and I loved the beef and the lavender panda cotta. We are definitely going back again soon!
