Le Souk - Greenwich Village
Everything was great, including their special martini. Octopus was also a big winner.
The worst experience in NY so far. Which bar on earth charges almost $20 for Jack and ginger. The place looks shady and the music is super loud. The restaurant has only one waiter waiting for 10 tables. THIS IS A MUST AVOID place in NY
It was good
But I’d pass on going again
This was our second time at Le Souk - the first time we came was an amazing experience. Unfortunately this time was utter disappointment. Not only was our waiter extremely rude and dismissive, but we had to constantly ask for the basics - water, utensils, napkins, CLEAN glassware (we received dirty glasses twice)... I watched our wine order sit for 10 minutes while he walked past it & our table multiple times before finally serving us. We also had never been on a Sunday, and received no communication that they only operated from a certain menu on Sundays. The only thing that saved our experience was the fact that the food was just as good as we remembered. I still highly recommend them for food and a nice spot to enjoy hookah, however don’t go in expecting quality customer service, because it seems to be last priority. Based on the (lack of) service, not sure I will personally go back there.
Definitely a party brunch
Hey there! Thanks for stopping by! We hope to see you again soon.
This was the best brunch I’ve ever had. The music was great and it felt like we were in a club in the best way possible. Josh S is a great waiter, a hero among men. The owners were amazing and I would definitely go back every weekend. Best day ever.
Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to write this. We're glad you enjoyed your experience with us. We look forward to seeing you again and again!
Went for brunch on a Saturday and I found the whole experience to be pretty sloppy. Took 20 min to get seated with a reservation and then another 20 to get a menu and another 15 before anyone would come over to take an order. In all fairness, the food was really good but the rest of the experience was entertainingly bad.
I had a delicious meal at Le Souk. The hummus, fish tagine and chocolate mousse were all excellent. My server was very good and the room was beautiful.
Great atmosphere, music and food!! The staff was super helpful as well.
It was amazing and their service is incredible!
Well, it was disappointing for sure. Pretty dank environs and when we got there a rowdy and out-of-control crowd that actually turned into a fight..though this is certainly not the restaurants fault. We were told belly dancers would be at 9, but started to show after 10 when we were leaving. The babaganoush (sp?) was good but the bread/toast things were stale and the remainder of the meal was average, plus my scallop entree came only with 3 scallops.
1. They overbooked with a brunc party that had the whole place and ran to dinner hour.
2. They carded 50 year old women, but young people openly drank and got falling down drun - literally.
3. Le Souk, rather than just close for the event, put us in a “mezzanine “” that had no purpose (other than coat check), and put in 3 tables for us and two others. So, we had the coat line chatting (and having a fight with Management at one point) and falling over from drunkenness (though that young man apologized to us - and the next table, he tried to stabilize himself on)
4. It took forever, from 4 different people (none of whom were assigned, obviously, to the tables put in the coat check mezzanine) to get (variously): menus, orders in, cold (and not good) food brought, a check brought.
5. Someone at the table finally suggested we leave and go get food elsewhere.
6. Extremely noisy.
Thank goodness we didn’t check our coats!
Very negative experience.
Water pipe leaking over table and we had to ask to be moved - one dished ordered - never given - double drink ordered from bar but was not a double - follow up service in food and drinks not good and then a $44 automatic tip which just wasn’t warranted. Shame that service was blasé but the food was good. Asked for to get a cab and then called a car service?????
Lovely dinner! Wonderful service! Portions n mall plates are ample to share with everyone at the table.
They're entirely subpar, at best.
Wouldn’t recommend for dinner given the noise level at night. The experience may have been better if we booked this during the day.
I would not recommend for dinner . I booked this place for a romantic birthday dinner for my boyfriend. Was nothing like the dining area pictured on their website at all !! The dining accommodations were not appropriate for hosting dinner service . I would not consider this place a restaurant. We were sat in a stair well along side a coat check line. There was another party of about 10 and another party of two. There was one other empty table of 2. And that was it . That was the “restaurant “. There was a constant line of people hovering over us the entire time . Noisy, constant traffic of people ... bumping into my chair the entire time. next to this make shift dining area was a another flight of stairs that led up to the club area. We didn’t make it there to see what it was like because I Was so irritated by the dinner accommodations. We spoke to the manager and she was understanding. She was apologetic and gave us a discount on our bill .
TRAGEDY!!!! This was by far the worse experience of my life at a restaurant or any establishment. The service was terrible, the server was dismissive and wouldn't explain the menu or offer the brunch menu. At first he tried to offer us a drink menu and had no intention of offering the bottomless brunch option which is priced at $35 per person.... When I asked about the bottomless brunch because I looked it up online, he said " oh yeah, you can do that if you want". The place was a mess, the glasses were dirty and you could literally cough on people's food as they carried it passed the crowd of people waiting to check their coats. The coat check is mandatory and it is a ridiculous $5 per coat, which you have to stand on line for the coat check which also delays your time to get a table. It took us 54 minutes of waiting downstairs and waiting in the coat check and then waiting for a dirty table before we got a chance to sit down so the bottomless 2 hours was knocked down to one hour. I wish this was a lie because the food is amazing but unfortunately nightmares do come true. I wonder if management is aware of how terrible this place is or do they even care. I've never been so aggravated in my life and Im pretty young and pretty tough so its takes a whole lot to stress me out but they've discovered the recipe. I would only recommend my worse enemies to this place and laugh maniacally. One of the bus boys were really nice and the front desk hostess was great but they couldn't save this place...INSANITY
Came to celebrate my mother’s 44th birthday. It was actually really beautiful to see the restaurant transform into a lounge. The staff was a little hard to get ahold of at times, but overall it let us better enjoy our evening. Food was INCREDIBLE- the flavors were truly drool worthy. We got a sparkler at the end of drinks when they overheard us talking about my moms birthday.
The food was good but the service was slow. It would have been a better experience if they had more waiters on the floor. The ambiance and DJ were good.
This has to be one of the most unorganized restaurants/lounges I have ever been to. The staff were clueless, disrespectful and seemed to look troubled. I had a brunch reservation for 4:00pm and was not served until 7:30pm. In between that time, we were not offered drinks. We had to contact many different waiters and even had to contact the manager MORE than once. We finally received our food at 7:30pm, the food was cool in temperature and wasn't as tasty! This restaurant needs new management or new staff. Waste of money and time!
Our waiter was the absolute best! Always checking up on us. We had a small problem getting in, but it was a great experience overall! Great place with great music and great drinks!!
Our server was on the phone texting the whole time, and the drinks were literally watered down—like we watched them poor water into the drink carafe. Only get mimosas if you go here. They pour an entire bottle of champagne with a quarter bottle of OJ into a carafe. The food was phenomenal. We got the fried chicken and the truffle Mac. We added a hookah on to our last hour since we didn’t feel anything from our drinks. The hookah also wasn’t strong, but it at least brought another fun activity into the club type atmosphere.
the 2 hours of unlimited drinks is literally orange juice and sprite. The hookah is fake tobaaco and when you ask for something it feels like you have to reach in. I WOULD NEVER go back to this place.
It was my boyfriends 35th birthday. We went around 8pm and it was nice and quiet and relaxing. The waiter and bartender were on point with the service. The food and drinks were good. Definitely going back
Being there was such a wonderful experience and the service and quality of the food is very reasonable
It was a birthday brunch. The waiter made us pay the bill early within 1 hr of the brunch. After that we didnt see him again at all. He STOPPED serving drinks to us. So we didn’t get out second hour of unlimited mimosas. Also my boyfriend wanted to order me a cake. The waiter didn’t even ask us did we want anything else before bringing the bill. In the middle of us eating the waiters picked up out table and moved us over. Overall, not a good Birthday brunch experience at all.
We were not pleased with the service that we received. I booked a reservation for my friends birthday and the waiter was not attentive. On top of that when we would try to order certain items he would tell us we can't because it was not apart of the unlimited brunch. When I stated would we just be able to pay for it he said several times "umm okay but it will be extra". This came off as offensive. Several times we tried to get his attention to replenishes beverages and ask for napkins etc. and he was more occupied taking shots with the table beside us. Once our "2 hour table limit" was up he told us we needed to pay because he needed the table. We had just order a hookah and were now being displaced from our area. The waiter proceeded to stand over us and wait for us to put our cards in the bill book. Overall the environment was nice but the service was not.
Great Vibe, Drinks And Food. We loved our server Christina
I would but service that day was terrible also didn’t receive the meal promised through the app.
The food for brunch was tasty but alittle cold. The unlimited drinks was more like juice and not alcohol. I would go back for the food but not the drinks.
Food was delicious! Service was excellent!
From the food to the service, everything was horrible. I didn’t even eat my burger because after one bite I knew it would make me sick. Nothing tasted good and we didn’t get the first drinks we ordered until an hour after we’d been seated.
Upon checking in for our dinner reservation , our party of 4, (all 50+ years of age) were asked to produce our IDs. We found this surprising, and when we asked why we were being asked , the employee curtly asked if we planned to have a drink. After being hostily directed to our table in their “garden”, (tables on the sidewalk), we decided to cut our losses and leave. Hostile is how we would rate the service and the inside of the restaurant smelled like bleach. Skip it!
Always a great experience at LeSouk! From my birthdays to friends to just brunch- Love the ambience and plp. Great place for any celebration-
I waited 40 minutes before I can even place an order. The check was brought to us with our meal, and we were not informed that if we pay our bottomless brunch comes to an end. Why not bring the check at the end of our two hours? I felt ripped off.
I have been to this place many years ago and it was nothing like it used to be. Our waiter seemed to be rushing us for the order, which confirmed it at the end when he was eager to cash us out even though we still had drinks. The appetizer came out with the main course. The place seems to be more of a night club than a place to eat. I would not recommend to go there for dinner, it is more of a bar/drinking place
I would not recommend this place at all, very unprofessional. I've never been to a restaurant were the staff was so busy mingling and hanging out rather than making sure the customer was taking care off.
What the website describe as far as the venue it’s actually incorrect. I was expecting what I saw on the website and it was not. We left eventually after two drinks. Service was good, drink was good, we did not eat their food.
