Le Salon at the Windsor Court Hotel Ratings and Reviews
I went for the Christmas tea service with a friend. It was a nice experience but I felt it was really overpriced. $69 for afternoon tea and cookies was a bit more than I was expecting to pay but the tea was wonderful and the atmosphere was full of Christmas cheer!
Our waitress was wonderful, the music and decorations really gets one in the Christmas spirit. The tea selection is very good, many to select from. The seasonal cocktails delicious. The only mis-step is the food. The sandwiches are good but made a little too far from eating; the turkey bread a little mushy. The baked goods were a little dry and the sweets were either very good (the two tarts) or so so, the two miniature truffles.
Loved our experience at Windsor court. Food was lovey and the tea was brewed perfectly. Cocktails were excellent and a nice touch. Unfortunately, there was a very large group of rowdy girls that really took away from the experience. Other than that it was an excellent outing that I look forward to repeating.
I was very disappointed. I went last weekend with my mom and everything was splendid. So I wanted to take my friend as a birthday treat and it was not as wonderful as I had hoped this time around and had an entirely different experience. The drinks took a really long time, the courses started really slowly and then everything got really rushed. We had to wait a long time with empty cups before getting refills on our tea. They never offered us additional rounds of cocktails. They kept wishing me a happy birthday when I specifically told them that it was my friend's birthday. I felt because we were younger they didn't pay that much attention to us and didn't give the same service as other tables. They very much catered to the moms with kids and the larger groups of older, richer looking women. If I go again I'll definitely skip the morning tea time. It felt rushed and stressful. Maybe the afternoons are more peaceful and relaxed. (And have less rowdy children running into my chair). The food is good as are the drinks but the service was seriously lacking. If you've got kiddos or are with a large group they will take excellent care of you. I'd be cautious to go though in the morning or with a smaller group.
This was our first "formal" afternoon tea and it was delightful. Our server, Jean, was attentive and engaging but not overbearing. She shared our enthusiasm for the occasion of my birthday and our first visit to New Orleans. The prearranged seating to accommodate each party was a good fit, and the live piano music set a lovely tone for the afternoon. Although there was a lot of energetic conversation among the larger parties, my husband and I still experienced an intimate setting at our table for two. The elegant presentation and classic choice of the food made the "tea" extra special. We highly recommend Le Salon for a memorable afternoon treat!
I took my 95 year old mother for Windsor Court's High Tea. It was a treat for us both. The harpist was marvelous, service nice and the experience and conversation delightful. It is nice to have a special place to share with those who are special.
Thank you Windsor Court for allowing this tradition to continue.
This was a return visit to have Tea at Windsor Court on a Sunday afternoon after having a great experience there about 15 yrs ago. In my opinion, It has gone downhill since then. First we were 10 minutes late for our seating reservation due to unusually heavy rains that prevented us from getting there on time. When we arrived, there was no one to greet and seat us. We had to search for the wait staff and then wait a long time before being served. Two parties came in after we were seated and received menus and immediate service. Fortunately, our waitress seemed concerned about our long wait, and did a nice job of attending to our needs for the rest of the experience. As for the food, we found it so-so. However, the tea and cocktails were very nice.
I make it a practice to enjoy afternoon tea at home and wherever I travel. Rather disappointed as the sandwiches and other luncheon items lacked freshness and vibrant flavor. The dessert was not overly artful and it seemed Iike they'd been sitting on trays in the fridge for some time. Our waitress was way overbooked and did her best to remain gracious. The tea section was enjoyed by all. Was miffed to learn at the end that there was a higher flat rate that was inclusive of an alcoholic beverage whether you had selected it or not. My niece was under 21. The website offered two price points. Tacky!!!!
The salon is supposed to be a "tech free" zone. We had a woman sitting at the table next to us working on a laptop while talking on her cell phone and gesticulating. Not peaceful & relaxing. The attendant refilled my champagne glass, it was not clear to me that there was an extra charge for that.
I had taken my 16 yo daughter and her friend for a special treat. At almost $200, I did not feel it was a good value. Very disappointed.
Every service with Lisa is always a pleasure. She really knows her teas, which is especially helpful for a novice tea drinker like myself. The theme on this occasion was Princess Tea, and Le Salon made it such an enjoyable experience for the youngest to oldest of princesses at heart. One star was deducted for food as the desserts missed the mark this time as opposed to the usual tea service. Otherwise, Afternoon Tea at Le Salon is highly recommended and always a joyful experience.
