Le Rendez-vous Bistro & Restaurant Francais Ratings and Reviews
This was my first time dining at Le Rendez vous and my review is mixed. My escargot arrived boiling and remained that way for a number of minutes. They were very salty and chewy. The dish appeared to be right out of a microwave and that was disheartening. My Beef Wellington
was a sorry sight and while the meat was tender, the sauce reduction was like a thick uninspired brown gravy. There was a very small serving of potato with it accompanied by highly salted broccolini. The wine we ordered was a good Bordeaux (Saint Emilion) and my partner reported enjoying the Duck which came with the same potato and broccolini. We both raved over the desert souffle but I had to remind the waiter to check the notes I had left for a birthday candle and this special desert.
All said I would not recommend this restaurant for a fine French meal although it might suffice for wine and desert. I am always willing to pay for good cuisine. This was uninspired and disappointing.
I was somewhat disappointed in my entrée. I usually get the veal medallions and this time the veal was tough and chewy. My husband's dish, the bell wellington was excellent, as usual. The pace of food was served quicker than usual. Also, for a birthday celebration which was told earlier to the restaurant, there was no indication of any birthday greeting or candle in the soufflé.
This is excellent authentic Classic French food. We are so fortunate to have this restaurant in Tucson. I love their pate, French onion soup and fresh fish entrees. Great meat , duck and veal choices too. There is a full bar as well as lots of excellent wine choices. You can choose the more casual dining room or the more traditional dining room.
Service is friendly and capable and the place is quite comfortable.
This place is a gem!
The food was good but the service was poor. They ignored/forgot my request for a dessert with a candle for the birthday we were celebrating. The wine list is not up to date. The waiter broke the cork while opening the bottle, there were flies buzzing around our table, and while the meet was flambe-d at our table, we had to listen to the lesson to a trainee... At the end of the dinner the waiter was unsure whether they had any Cognac (in a French restaurant!). The food was goos but the restaurant is managed without competence and class.
Classic French--always delicious
Our family have Ben customers of Le Rendezvous decades and watched it continue to flourish as a classic French restaurant even through its changes from father to son and our changes from grandparents to adult grandchildren. Service is lovely. There is a more casual area and a small but dressier dining area that really can make an occasion feel special. Very adult; not for little children.
Horrible. I'v made 3 reservations previously that I canceled a week later, because the timing was not right for me. However, the last reservation, I actually decided to go. Took a $15 Uber & I get there just to be met by a random server outside saying the place is closed.
I HAD A RESERVATION AT 8:45. I GOT THERE AT 8:44. SHE SAID THEY'VE BEEN CLOSED SINCE 7:30!!
She knew that the online system allows you to make reservations till wayyy after the place is closed. She said she saw the reservation & tried calling in advance (LIE #1). All my reservations have been around 9PM. I have never received any means of contact from them. She seemed so unbothered by the fact that this situation was taking place. Almost as if it were the norm.
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. STAY HOME OR TRY SOMEWHERE ELSE!
A wonderful experience. The last 2 times we ate at this restaurant, we were very disappointed. We decided to give it one more try and we are so happy we did. Everything was like it used to be before the ownership changed. Our waitress Alexandra was wonderful and Joe very efficient and friendly. We will be back
Enjoyed the food, the cocktails and the white table cloth atmosphere. We had Green Peppercorn steak and veal medallions with an apple tart and calvados based sauce.. Both were sauced with well made sauces and prepared to our personal preference of medium rare doneness...The Kir Royale’s before dinner gave us a break from a busy schedule and time to talk without any ‘din’ from a noisy room even though all the tables were filled. The duck terrine was a great way to start the meal.
We were looking forward to trying an authentic French restaurant for lunch in our new neighborhood, but were very disappointed in the service and the Steak Frites. While the meat was a nice cut and done nicely, the sauce was heavily salted. French fries were overdone and soggy. My wife's Salmon Nicoise was prepared very well, as it should have been. Waitress was forgetful regarding our requests. On a positive note, the Creme Brulee was outstanding, best in Tucson. Unlikely to return
For whatever unknown reason, we have not dined at LR for MANY years, so decided to return for a b'day dinner. It was FABULOUS, in every respect. The choices we made we thoroughly enjoyed and we look forward to going back again soon to try other menu items. And, we will try it for lunch as well! Hats off to the chefs and the service staff--terrific and WONDERFUL!!
We wanted to experience some French food in Tucson and took some friends along with us for our first visit to Le Rendez-vous . We were seated in the Bistro area and enjoyed the small plates as well as ordering from the dining room menu. The Beef Wellington was the best we've ever had. The salad with the pears and goat cheese was outstanding as were the wine and Crème Brûlée. We will make a return trip for lunch.
The service was gracious and attentive from the moment of arrival to departure.
The food was very good and well presented. The sauces are good, and the side dishes were very nice and not in overpowering quantities.
The restaurant tables are far enough apart that quiet conversation is possible, although conversation from other tables is often audible.
