For a more romantic view of the airport, watch the planes land in the sunset with our outdoor dining on the deck. With a little imagination, you can see it exactly as Charles Lindbergh did when he landed the "Spirit of St. Louis" here in 1927.
We dined a couple of courses and were there an hour and 45 minutes as we sat back and enjoyed the jazz trio after dinner. It was a great evening and look forward to our next dining visit.
Fabulous place, with an airport theme, understated. Great food and wines. Worth the trip!!
What a fantastic way to celebrate our anniversary. A beautiful and unique setting, service that made us feel like celebrities, generous drinks and a dinner that rivaled the most posh restaurants I’ve ever been. I’m so glad we went!
This is one of my favorite Louisville restaurants.
Flew in from Cincinnati. Parked the plane in front of Le Relais. Great evening.
LeRelais is just lovely and is like going back in time. It is my favorite.
We love Le Relais - it's one of our favorite spots in L'ville. Anthony always makes sure everything is on point. He recommended a fantastic bottle of wine on this visit. I wish we could go more often...
Food was amazing, you changed my view completely on calamari!
Excellent restaurant with excellent service. A Louisville tradition
Always a super-friendly place to have dinner. The owner is a very gracious host. Ambiance is first-rate. Closest thing to France in the USA.
We hadn’t been to this upscale Louisville restaurant in about 12 months, simply due to the press of other events. It was wonderful. Much like coming home to a warm, welcoming environment. It is a favorite of many Louisvillians. The ambiance is one of quiet elegance. The food is simply outstanding French cuisine. Diners are given an actual choice of dinner or smaller portions. The cocktail and wine list is deep. There is a quiet buzz about the place. The wait staff is very attentive and knowledgeable without being fussy or intrusive. The owner, Anthony, sets the hospitable tone. Outstanding in every way.
Food really not good used to be a lot better
The food wasn’t as expected for the price I felt like I was in a shoe box very noisy place, the sea bass I ordered was very bland I was not very impressed after all
Wonderful. It is more than a meal, it is an experience
Impeccable. Service, ambiance, the food was delicious and dessert, glorious.
Standard French restaurant. Quality service, quality food. Reliable and romantic, but not exceptional. Wish we had got some wine!
First visit to Le Relais and very enjoyable evening. Exceptionally professional, great food, comfortable seating. Owner greeted us and very accommodating. I will certainly return.
An absolutely wonderful treasure! The food is always excellent and the service is second to none!!!!!
In a word, our evening at Le Relais was "disappointing". It was my husband's birthday and I made the reservation a couple month's in advance. He'd never been there, and I'd only been once several years ago. Our table was in the corner in the front left side of the restaurant -- not much of a view except of the stairwell to the bathroom -- most of the rest of the restaurant was blocked by a column. We were greeted by the manager, who took our coats when we came in, and that was about as welcoming as the evening got. Our waitress seemed to lose interest right away when we said we weren't interested in the wine or cocktails list. She left the menus and came back about 10 minutes later and asked if we had any questions. We were going to order an appetizer and wait on ordering the rest, but she said that wasn't necessary. So we ordered the Calamari, which was very good, salads (both ordered the Bibb salad -- which turned out to be more of a chopped salad, but still OK), and entrees (pork chop and small filet). The pork chop was fine, but nothing memorable. The accompanying brussel sprouts were steamed with no (or very little) seasoning and they sat atop some sort of paste, which we never figured out -- didn't bother with it as it had no taste. My husband's "small" filet was laughable -- maybe 3-4 ounces tops, with a small scoop of mashed potatoes. He said the flavor was good. The young man responsible for filling water glasses came around quite often, which was nice, but even nicer would have been if he looked up, or smiled, or answered when spoken to. After the underwhelming service and meal we didn't bother with dessert. I was really bummed -- I wanted to take my husband out for a nice dinner / special occasion and this was far from it.
Always love this place. So professional and super attentive. The food is always excellent. True to French cuisine, portions are not large but plenty big enough for the average diner.
As usual a wonder for night. Wonderful place for a great meal, quiet and relaxing.
Magnifique! I thought I was in Paris 1938. Now I’m trying to buy a wine I was served that evening.
Loved it as always!
The three of us had a wonderful dinner and we chose Sunday night because they have live jazz. I thought it might be a bit noisy but it was not because it was a saxophone and an acoustic guitar so it was mellow. Food was wonderful and service elegant. If you haven't been, you should go and if you have been, go again.
We usually love coming here. This evening we had super slow service and the food was horrible. My dish came out overcooked and cool and my husband's had clearly been sitting under the heat lamp.
I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone for any occasion. Staff was wonderful!
Very nice atmosphere, food was very good, and the waiter/manager were most helpful.
We have not been to Le Relais for quite some time and thought we'd give it another try. Based on this past experience, we may not return again. While the salads were fine, most of the meals were lacking for one reason or another. The highlight was the scallops--they were delicious and hot. The pork chop was recommended, thus ordered, but unfortunately was just "ok"....not very flavorful. Vegetables were good. Two people had the strip steak...while the flavor of the dish was delicious IT WAS LUKEWARM AT BEST....unacceptable. We did not send it back, as doing so raises the question of what happens to the food when it goes back to the kitchen (this concern applies to ANY restaurant). Overall, we were disappointed with our collective meals.
Great meal. The best dining experience in Louisville!
Wonderful evening celebrating my husband’s birthday. One of our favorite restaurants!
We will be back!
We very much enjoyed our experience and look forward to returning. The staff was excellent and the manager was very gracious. It was so nice to be greeted before we even came in the door. The evening had an upscale feel and the entrees were absolutely delicious! I tried some of my husband's mushroom risotto and could have eaten a whole bowl of just that! They were even sweet enough to put a candle on my dessert, as my husband mentioned it was my birthday when we came in.
Wonderful setting; not over done yet, upscale. An ambience reminiscent of the old airfield and a quaint French restaurant. The rabbit was delectable and dessert was divine. The owner indulged me with a genuine Pastis (thank you!) and the service was stellar. A true slice of Europe set down in Louisville. Throw in the the light, live jazz duo never playing too loud and the evening was absolutely complete.
I had the Beet Salad and Chilean Sea Bass over Polenta. The salad was delicious with just the right amount of dressing and the curry vinegarette had a delicious flavor. For the entree, I had the Chilean Sea Bass over Polenta, it was melt in your mouth fabulous. The best piece of fish I have had in awhile. To finish, I had the homemade icecream in pastry with fudge sauce. It was also very good but I would have preferred a little lighter pastry. Overall, I give the meal an A rating.
I took my wife there for a Valentine Day dinner.
The service and food was exceptional.
My wife commented it was one of the best steaks
she has had in a restaurant. All was good.
We will go back....
Overall we had a great experience. Would definitely recommend and we plan to go again.
One of my top three restaurants in Louisville. They have never let me down. I recommend it to everyone.
I would not recommend the rabbit on their special. The vegetables were burnt on the outside and raw. I could not cut the baby carrots with a knife or fork. The rabbit was tough and not ver well seasoned. The only truly tasty part of our meal was the beet salad.
My wife and I tried Le Relais for the first time to celebrate Valentines a day early. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the unique ambiance. We will definitely be back soon.
