Food was delicious and waiter very attentive. Manager wished us a Happy Anniversary but was a little disappointed that we didn't get a complimentary ice cream or discount on a dessert.
We were finished and out the door in one hr. fifteen minutes.
The 1930s art-deco building hosts the perfect environment for the Le Relais restaurant. The setting is on Bowman airfield, Louisville's original aerodrome. Nostalgic aviation buffs would appreciate seeing aircraft taxiing by the window. The Administration building is a historic landmark, it was the original control tower. It still operates the night rotating beacon.
Service wise, it is second to none. It reminds me of the attention to detail you would get in the better places in Europe. Food quality is superb. There are no disappointments here. My wedding anniversary was celebrated in style. All the people are friendly and work hard to make your dining experience a memorable occasion. Create a memory, visit the Le Relais restaurant. My next visit I will travel via airplane. You can taxi and park next the restaurant and walk in. It doesn't get any better that!
Le Relais is a real gem in the Louisville dining scene. The cocktails were superb, the ambiance is clubby and comfortable, and the food is superb. My wife enjoyed beautifully prepared scallops St. Jacques, and my Trout Meuniere was as good as any I've had in New Orleans over the years. We really appreciate the lower noise level, too ... much better for a conversation than most restaurants. For a special occasion or just a special treat, this place needs to be high on your consideration list.
Always great-waitstaff is always so professional. Love this place.
Went to dinner for a birthday celebration and it was absolutely wonderful from the moment we arrived! The owner and entire staff went out of their way to ensure the evening was special and the food was outstanding! Highly recommend for any event or just a wonderful meal!
Only the second time at this restaurant and enjoyed our visit very much.
My wife, family including 98 year old mother-in-law dined.
The food was delicious and your staff accommodated our tastes, even redoing the need for rare steaks,
Perfectly delightful and delicious...Anthony makes every patron feel important...the food is always amazing...the servers are top notch!
The food was delicious. My steak was cooked exactly how I asked for it. Everything was perfect from the wine to the service!
This has always been one of my wife's favorite restaurants. Our first really nice dinner date was here 18 years ago. Food was incredible both then and now (and times in between). One of our top 5 in Louisville. Customers for life
Thank you for being an authentic choice and staying with it. We love it!
Unforgettable evening once again. The saff never fails to make everyone in the group comfortable and delighted with their food.
My wife and I enjoyed a very well prepared meal. The service was great. Food preparation was wonderful. Atmosphere and music was wonderful. This the second visit for us. We were here in 1989.
The food and service was perfection. A wonderful experience. Would highly recommend and will definitely return!
My wife and I decided to have a fine dining experience to celebrate my birthday, and had always heard good things about Le Relais, so we booked a table. The service was attentive but not intrusive, the ambience pleasing, and the food was excellent. We had a glass of wine each, a Grenache for madame and a Pinot Noir for me. We each had a salad and shared an entree. I opted for the beet salad, which was a perfect blend of vinegar and sweet, with a delectable goat cheese. We had the Saint-Jacques, neatly seared scallops on a delicious risotto with a sprig of broccolini. My wife chose the crème brulée for dessert, and I had a small taste. The evening was a wonderful experience, we hope to return in the future.
Anthony, the owner, is most attentive.
Food was good, but not outstanding. The owner made the restaurant feel very authentic, but our server knew nothing about the menu and did not offer great service. Portion sizes were moderate. Price was fair for food portions and quality. Not a huge bar selection.
Delicious, well- prepared food served by excellent staff in a stylish setting with wonderful ambiance
We have eaten here a number of times over the last 20 years and it remains
consistently very good.
Great as usual. My favorite place.
We had a fantastic experience, as always. Anthony is a gracious host and he goes out of his way to greet everyone and make sure you have a good time. The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. It wasn’t terribly busy so the noise level was perfect for catching up with an old friend.
Thank you, Le Relais, for making my mother's 65th birthday her best birthday yet! She had never been to Le Relais, nor had she ever eaten French cuisine. Now, she is hooked! She cannot wait for the spring menu, and wants to come at least once per season! Thank you for giving her a new experience, "for an old broad," as she said.
Went there for my wife’s birthday. It’s 2 miles from our front door. You would be at home dressed casually or spiffed up. Food & service great. Ambiance & music were right up our alley. Already planning return trip.
Outstanding dining experience that has only improved with time. Peerless service that makes one feel special without being overbearing. Our dinner was as follows; fois gras appetizer. Perfect. I had vichyssoise and my girlfriend had the beet salad. Wonderful. My entree was a filet, my girlfriend had the duck. Also wonderful. Dessert was ice cream and profiteroles. A perfectly lovely evening.
My wife and I have eaten at Le Relais many times but I think this, our most recent meal, was also our favorite. The best part of the experience? Hard to say because the food, the service, and the atmosphere finished in a three-way tie for first. Long may she fly.
This has been on my short list of consistently great restaurants in Louisville for more than 2 decades. Le Relais has no weaknesses
It is always a treat to dine at Les Relais. The food is excellent and the portions are reasonable, not the gigantic ones some places feature. The wine list is very good and offer several reasonably priced selections. Our service this last time was rather slow. We dined early, but certainly did not leave early.
The food was fabulous as always. However, our waiter became unacommodating toward the end of our meal. Definitely hurried us along, even to the point of removing one of our adult guest’s desert when she was only half way through eating it. Very rude man and absolutely did not deserve the 20% tip my husband left him. I will most definitely request to not sit at his tables for our next reservation at Le Relais.
This was our first visit - we will definitely be back. The atmosphere is charming and transports you to a other era. The food and service were top notch. Highly recommended!
One of Louisville's top restaurants and perhaps the city's most unique location for a restaurant that is second to none in decor.
Wonderful dinner. Room full and loud.
Service. Decor. Food. I love Le Relais - and the food defines perfection - but I have to start with the staff. The staff here is truly one of the best anywhere. The owner is incredibly gracious and the waiters are experts in fine dining, manners, and the menu. One feels so welcome here -- never stuffy -- without overdoing it, and that takes the right touch. Then the food comes and that's it folks. One bite and you know you've come to the right place. We has exceptional meals and lingered to our hearts content over a perfect creme brulee. Our thanks to the owner and his terrific culinary creation.
As I provided above, I and my two female dinning companions enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
As a mater of of fact, our party tried the Pork Chops, the Salmon and the Pasta along with creme brûlée' for dessert. Additionally the escargots, and salads. I commend the chef!
Ever item served, was a perfect dinning experience. The flavors were what you wanted! No oddball funky surprises, just great food, served with pride and precision.
The only thing that was troublesome was the way a blonde female server spoke down to my two female companions. She seemed to insert herself into our evening with an off handed comment and unwanted direction. This isn't Arby's. We are all adults. We all know how to conduct ourselves.
When I am spending $200-$300 for a wonderful and memorable dinner, the "help" should remember the customer is the one who pays the bill.
Again, Thanks for Great Meal!
Usually we have AMAZING meals here...but not tonight. Server was pretty much non-existent even though we were the only table for awhile. Ordered the special.... lamb roll with goat cheese and sun dried tomatoes. Did not see or taste a single sun dried tomato or goat cheese. Very disappointing! Ordered the coffee ice cream.,house made.,.,so full of ice crystals you couldn’t eat it. Tasted like leftovers from the previous weekend. Not the typical meal here!!!! Server delivered food and never came back until time for check. I even asked if she was new????? Nope!
We dined at Le Relais for a date night, and from the moment we walked in, everything exceeded our expectations. The owner greeted us as and promptly sat us at our table. The wait staff was attentive and the owner ran the front of the house like well orchestrated event. He recommended a fantastic wine that was perfect with our meal. The steak tartare was expertly seasoned, the best I've had anywhere. I had the duck breast special and my date had the steak au poivre, and we were very happy with our choices. We ordered the chocolate souffle ahead of time, and it came out at just the right time. This is now on our short-list of great Louisville restaurants and would recommend to anyone without hesitation.
We have been regulars to Le Relais for 30 years. As always Anthony and staff are impeccable with everything. Keep it going Anthony!
Valentines Day dinner
As always, Anthony and staff did a wonderful job, great food and service
This was our Valentine’s Day celebration dinner.
The owner greeted us immediately and seated us himself. The service throughout the evening was excellent, attentive, friendly and professional.
The escargot was unremarkable but the remainder of the meal was excellent. We had the beet salad, scallops and grilled lamb chops, finishing with a decadent chocolate soufflé.
The noise was a bit high for our taste, but we’re old 😜
Will definitely return.
