About Le P'tit Laurent
Le P'tit Laurent is owned by Laurent Legendre, whose passion for great food and wine has resulted in a fine reputation in his adopted San Francisco. Born and raised in Paris, Laurent studied at the internationally acclaimed Ecole Hoteliere and worked at top Parisian restaurants Tour d'argent. Elysee Le Notre, Arpege and Amphycles.
While on vacation in the United tates in 1996, he fell in love with San Francisco and decided to make it his home. Since then he opened Clementine Restaurant in 1998, Bistro Clement in 2001 and his most recent success Le P'tit Laurent open in July 2007.

Msucles were really fishy, barely edible. I did not finish them. The sauce on the hanger stake was really thick and sweet, it tasted more like a balsamic jam. The wait person did not make much attempt to make the occasion special even though she knew it was a birthday. Service was prompt. Cocktails and wine great as always.
We were seated as soon as we arrived. Sever came over right away to greet us and take our beverage order. Very friendly server, and not overbearing. We were ready to order within about five minutes, and our server was there to take our order, right on cue. Food arrived much quicker than expected, which was fine. Everyone in our group of four commented that their food was delicious. I was the only one ordering traditional French fare; cassoulet. Excellent choice. Server also very helpful with wine selection. All in all, very positive experience. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for great food in a cozy and relaxing venue.
I like the cozy, down-to-earth ambience, yet with a definite European flair. The food is always well-prepared and well-seasoned. The service is personal, attentive, and friendly. It’s also affordably priced, especially the “neighborhood menu” offered weekday nights. For all these reasons, I keep returning to this delightful little restaurant, located just a block from the Glen Park BART station.
We were visiting SF from San Diego and staying in the Glen Park neighborhood, the owner of our Air BnB recommended we try this place out and we are SO happy we did! The restaurant was quaint and felt very much like we just stepped into a corner place in France. Everything was perfect, the atmosphere, the wine, and most of all the food! It was one of the best meals we have ever had! It may require another trip up soon just to go again. Our server Althea was awesome, she made great recommendations that were spot on. The caramelized French toast is a must. Thank you for a great dinner to end our trip!
Oh also since it’s a small place, reservations are a must and can be done easily!
The menu on the open table link does not compare with the actual menu. Prices are higher and not all items are available. The dessert I was looking forward to was unavailable and the server did not recognize it. I think it is a bit overpriced. The venue is small and tables are crowded.
Sorry you guys but quality is slipping - don't know what it is but I have been going here for years and this most recent experience was disappointing. The family atmosphere and attention to detail have decreased - our server was not on par with those you've had in the past, and the food was a cut below the quality I've come to expect. What gives? Hard times or financial troubles? New head chef? New management? Please get it together or you will become a has-been as opposed to the neighborhood-gem you once were. Please fix this.
We enjoyed our meal. It was fine for a neighbor spot, but nothing special. My main complaint is it is expensive for the spot. $165 for 2 seems expensive. We shared an appetizer, 2 entrees, and shared a dessert with 3 drinks. Lamb chops & profiteroles were good. The fois gras was just OK.
This is a neighborhood restaurant that I'm happy to be able to walk to. It's small with an intimate and authentic French feel. The $29 neighborhood menu that changes weekly is worth it. I ordered the beef and mashed potatoes and wasn't overjoyed with the beef. It wasn't tender so a bit disappointing but the salad was delicious and the dessert (french toast with ice cream) was perfect. I wish I got the bouillabaisse and will next time.
It's very loud but speaks well for a Monday night!
This is a very popular spot and is always crowded. We went on a Sunday evening and the restaurant filled up quickly. There were only two wait staff and one also acted as the host, so it took a little while before our order was taken. When our entrees arrived, the food was room temperature. The restaurant definitely needed another server.
It's been several years since we last ate there. The food in general was fine, but is definitely not as good as before. The gravy on my meat was very thick and it looked like the food was plopped on several ofthe plates. For what the restaurant charges, presentation of the food and service should be better.
Making reservations through Open Table was easy. The restaurant accommodated our request for a table for 4 in a quiet part of the restaurant so that our friends and my wife and I could converse. We were seated promptly and service was immediate even though our friends hadn't arrived yet. The fresh crab & avocado salad/appetizer was a good start, although for my taste a little less dressing in the crab (less mayonnaise) would have been preferred. My bass was very good--although perhaps a bit too cooked for my tastes. My wife had the boeuf bourguignon, which she said was excellent. Our friends shared the crab & avocado salad and vegetarian plate with glasses of bordeaux and were very pleased. The side order of veggies were terrific and the desserts we shared--the chocolate with coconut sorbet and the three cream puff thingies (I can't remember exactly what they were called) were outstanding. This is a special restaurant nestled in an eclectic part of San Francisco--and just a block from the Glen Park BART station. Our friends, who lived in Paris for 10 months said that the restaurant is very authentic--one which could be found on the Left Bank. A special place.
When you've had enough of downtown places, Le P'tit Laurent is a good choice. Attractive and cozy, with cordial owner. Scallops were excellent. Cream of cucumber soup tasted more of the former than the latter. Waiter had some attitude (and wasn't French BTW). They need to recast their desserts---boring and nothing you can't get elsewhere.
It is a small neighborhood restaurant with an authentic French vibe. The food is dynomite! my fiancé's brother was visiting and we came here for dinner and it did not disappoint! I would highly recommend to make a reservation, but we were able to get a reservation same day. Lamb shank was amazing!
