About Le P'tit Laurent
Le P'tit Laurent is owned by Laurent Legendre, whose passion for great food and wine has resulted in a fine reputation in his adopted San Francisco. Born and raised in Paris, Laurent studied at the internationally acclaimed Ecole Hoteliere and worked at top Parisian restaurants Tour d'argent. Elysee Le Notre, Arpege and Amphycles.
While on vacation in the United tates in 1996, he fell in love with San Francisco and decided to make it his home. Since then he opened Clementine Restaurant in 1998, Bistro Clement in 2001 and his most recent success Le P'tit Laurent open in July 2007.

No mussels or scallops available (730pm booking) which left not much of a choice. Pate arrived within 2 minutes of ordering which suggested it might have been pre-made. The steak in a red wine sauce was a struggle as the taste of salt was overpowering. The fries (or chips as we call them in Scotland) had a strong taste of the oil they were cooked in. Please also be aware that the prices that are displayed on "open table" are not the same as the prices contained within the restaurant menu which was more expensive. We've now lived in San Francisco since moving from the UK in February and have tried and enjoyed many restaurants but unfortunately not this one. We've also eaten in Paris on a few occasions and I wouldn't consider our meal to be authentic either.
The vegetarian dish was not that interesting and the beans were under cooked. The sea bass was tasty but a very small portion - the mashed potatoes filled up most of the plate. The sauteed veggies were good but again, small portion. One carrot and one piece of squash...would it be too difficult to add one more of each to the dish? The creme brulee was good. The service was fine, but nothing special. Wouldn't go back.
My family was there for Thanksgiving dinner. Unfortunately, I did not check beforehand about my garlic allergy as we had Thanksgiving dinner there 2 years ago. This time I was told that the entire Thanksgiving dinner had garlic in it and that everything on the regular menu included garlic. There was absolutely no effort to accommodate me. Hard to believe that a decent restaurant would not have a steak or piece of chicken available that had not been already marinated in garlic. We certainly could not leave, as this was Thanksgiving, so I ate a salad, so that my family could try to enjoy their meal. Unfortunately, both the salad and their dinner was mediocre.
What a gem in our City! The event was Thanksgiving 2017 and we can’t imagine a better choice to have made. I had their version of the Thanksgiving meal and had plenty to bring home after filling myself. My partner had their to-die-for French onion soup and the bass and loved it all as I heard through various exclamations. We’ll be back many times for sure.
A lovely little french restaurant located in the Glenn Park area of San Francisco. This was our third time there for their Thanksgiving Diner. I had the lamb chops with green beans. The sauce for the chops was outstandingly flavorful. My wife had the traditional turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes, which she enjoyed. The two soups (French Onion & Butternut Squash) were excellent.
Msucles were really fishy, barely edible. I did not finish them. The sauce on the hanger stake was really thick and sweet, it tasted more like a balsamic jam. The wait person did not make much attempt to make the occasion special even though she knew it was a birthday. Service was prompt. Cocktails and wine great as always.
We were seated as soon as we arrived. Sever came over right away to greet us and take our beverage order. Very friendly server, and not overbearing. We were ready to order within about five minutes, and our server was there to take our order, right on cue. Food arrived much quicker than expected, which was fine. Everyone in our group of four commented that their food was delicious. I was the only one ordering traditional French fare; cassoulet. Excellent choice. Server also very helpful with wine selection. All in all, very positive experience. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for great food in a cozy and relaxing venue.
I like the cozy, down-to-earth ambience, yet with a definite European flair. The food is always well-prepared and well-seasoned. The service is personal, attentive, and friendly. It’s also affordably priced, especially the “neighborhood menu” offered weekday nights. For all these reasons, I keep returning to this delightful little restaurant, located just a block from the Glen Park BART station.
We were visiting SF from San Diego and staying in the Glen Park neighborhood, the owner of our Air BnB recommended we try this place out and we are SO happy we did! The restaurant was quaint and felt very much like we just stepped into a corner place in France. Everything was perfect, the atmosphere, the wine, and most of all the food! It was one of the best meals we have ever had! It may require another trip up soon just to go again. Our server Althea was awesome, she made great recommendations that were spot on. The caramelized French toast is a must. Thank you for a great dinner to end our trip!
Oh also since it’s a small place, reservations are a must and can be done easily!
The menu on the open table link does not compare with the actual menu. Prices are higher and not all items are available. The dessert I was looking forward to was unavailable and the server did not recognize it. I think it is a bit overpriced. The venue is small and tables are crowded.
