Le P'tit Laurent
While on vacation in the United tates in 1996, he fell in love with San Francisco and decided to make it his home. Since then he opened Clementine Restaurant in 1998, Bistro Clement in 2001 and his most recent success Le P'tit Laurent open in July 2007.
Warm Steamed Mussels
with white wine and garlic served with french fries
Le Cassoulet toulousain Maison
Home Made Cassoulet with beans (Duck leg Confit, pork, Toulouse sausage)
New York steak
french fries, shallot and cabernet sauvignon sauce
The new owner has kept the Petit Laurent ambiance, and we were generally satisfied with the food. Mussels were good but wish they had more broth. Creme Brulee didn't have much taste but well made. Service was fine - not many people in the restaurant because of virus restrictions, so no stress for servers. All in all, a good neighborhood restaurant in Glen Park.
Been going here for four years...food has steadily declined and now it's not worth the prices.
Shrimp pasta dish was not tasty the way we would expect it to be based on frequent past meals at this restaurant. Worse yet the pastry in the profiteroles dessert was very hard (stale) and when we noted it the waiter checked and told us that the person who was responsible for them was not in on Tuesday. When were they fresh? They weren’t last Tuesday. Very disappointing.
One of our favorite places in SF, it is our "Parisian Bistro" away from Paris.
Everything was great, we will definitely be back.
Lovely and delicious with great service and superb preparation. We’d go again for sure. I had Coq au vin and green salad; others had rabbit and bass. Everyone was thrilled with their meals and I had my leftovers for lunch yesterday. Highly recommended.
Our dinner was ruined by the ear-splitting, constant noise in this small, tightly-packed restaurant. Food was okay, service spot on, but overall an uncomfortable experience.
This was a great birthday dinner. I’m so glad Le Petit Laurent has stayed open, and the new owner came and greeted us personally. Thanks to all.
Every time we come here with a reservation we still have to wait 15 to 30 minutes and this time was the same. However the real issue was that my main course (steak and fries) was served lukewarm. The sauce on it was downright cold making the whole experience gross. I have come here a few times and this one was definitely the worst experience. It will take a long time for me to forget how bad it was and potentially return.
The above "Yes" is really a "Maybe"...we have gone there for years & it is honestly one of our favorite restaurants in San Francisco, but...though on this recent visit the food was outstanding as usual & the service was attentive, the noise level was PAINFUL & the behavior of a table of young folks out of control...we were sitting NEXT to each other & had to shout to one another ro be heard...we are seriously discussing never going back &, sadly, we are leaning towards staying away...sorry, but it's the truth...
Another fabulous meal. This is one of our favorite restaurants in San Francisco.
I haven’t been here in a couple of years so I was really looking forward to it. We started with ordering ginger ales that tasted like limonata spritzers. Then came the special salad of the day-Crab Salad! Out comes the salad comprised of green beans, cherry tomatoes, and canned fish in oil. I thought they had made a mistake and said that was indeed crab. I’ve never had crab that tasted like that fresh or tinned. The steak frite was very good, but too filling to finish. We had them box up the leftovers. We shared the pear tart which was too sweet for me. The waiter comped us an aperitif and I dumped it into the fake ginger ale because again, too sweet. Not as good as I remembered and then later in, my dinner partner texted me that they never gave her the leftovers!
Wonderful neighborhood slice of Paris!!!
Great attentive service, great value options.
First time for dinner at Le P’tit Laurent, we had been once for brunch. We live in Glen Park and have been meaning to try it for dinner. The place is so cozy, but not overly loud. The food was terrific and the service was excellent. We will no doubt be back to try some of the dishes we didn’t get to this visit.
Hoping the restaurant will return... we miss you!!
Food was outstanding , was craving some French cuisine for some time and they didn’t disappoint.
This charming Glen Park restaurant has recently changed hands. The menu and the food seem no different than before. The menu is very good and the food excellent if you enjoy old style French cooking however the service was terrible. We waited over one hour before ordering and after our order was placed it was at least a half an hour between the first and second courses. There was no apology from the staff. This was on a weeknight but the restaurant was packed. Not sure I would recommend this restaurant unless the service picked up.
I was a bit disappointed with the quality of the food and presentation. My last visit was several years ago and the quality of food was at a higher level. Our waiter was attentive and took our order right away, that was a plus.
This has been one of my favorite restaurants for a long time but I was disappointed with the service on this Valentines Day dinner occasion. Food was very good but the waiter never came back to refill our water or wine glasses the entire dinner. And the $200 tab for dinner (before tip) for 2 made it seem all the more not worth it.
Enjoyed eating at Le P'tit Laurent on Valentine's Day. Food and service were great as always. Only after we ate did we learn that the restaurant was sold to new owners. Fortunately they have continued the same type of cuisine and attentive service. We hope they continue the great traditions of P'tit Laurent.
Amazing food and ambiance!!!
Second time celebrating Valentine’s Day. Perfect
Great local neighborhood restaurant serving good food at a reasonable price.
$1 oysters during Happy Hour is the best bargain in town!
It's always great to have a meal at this wonderful French Bistro. How can one not enjoy the little French details, the delightful staff, and the wonderful food that comes from their kitchen. Though it undoubtedly services the local residents, if you find this hidden gem you won't be disappointed.
The staff were all very kind and accommodating and the food was delicious. We had a great time!😊
Not only a wonderful neighborhood gem, it’s worth a trip to this authentic French restaurant! The daily specials are always a good deal & loads of food! Always a pleasure! We’ll return soon! Need my Cassoulet fix!
A real neighborhood place, nice friendly vibe. Interesting menu. Husband had sea bass, enjoyed it. However I found the presentation unappealing, white potatoes, white fish covered in a flavorful white sauce. I had the mussels, just o.k.,the good size potion was cold on top, only got warm near the bottom of the bowl. Also the mussels were very small, broth was good, as were the French fries. The arugula salad was excellent and large enough to share.
A gem of a neighborhood restaurant. I LOVE Le P'tit and highly recommend for any occasion. Awesome food and service.
Discovered this place, read many positive reviews and decided to give it a try. And what a disappointment it was. The food was mildly interesting. Escargot weren’t plump and chew, how they should be but over done and hence falling into pieces, onion soup was not your typical French - lots of sweet onions, less bread and cheese, it was the other way around, and it was missing flavor. For main I ordered sea bass - it was the worst fish I’ve had in a long time. It tasted like paper but was disguised with heavy creamy sauce. Husband had lamb shank - it was ok. All in all - disappointing. Won’t be coming back
What a pleasant surprise. Le P'tit is now one of our favorite restaurants. Took my partner here for his birthday and we had such a nice evening. Wait staff friendly and attentive. They work together so you get served by everyone. The menu is great - I seriously would have ordered almost everything on the menu which means we definitely need to return. We started with drinks from an extensive drink menu. This was followed by shared escargot - which was served with bread. I had the prix fixe - which is a deal at $31. Consisted of artichoke salad, short ribs with mashed potatoes and veggies and dessert of your choice (I chose the caramelized french toast with caramel ice cream although they served vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce). Partner had lamb shank, which he said was one of his favorite all time b-day dinners (he turned 59 so that says a lot). Customers were also very friendly and we had discussions with two different tables which added to the evening, in a good way. As I said earlier, we're definitely coming back so we can try some of the other entres.
Salmon and French fries were very good and the creme brulee and peach Melba were divine!
First time we’ve dined since new owner took over. Kitchen staff is the same so food was too. Wait staff still working out kinks... Laurent used to pitch in and help, but person I assume was new owner stood on side lines and seemed make busy staff even busier.. we love this place and plan to give them a chance to work out service issues.
The "yes" recommendation comes with a couple of caveats: Try to sit at the bar; order food from the appetizer menu.
This was my 3rd time here, 2nd time for my husband. Pre-dinner drinks were served separately by at least 10 minutes, the first followed immediately by my appetizer (no time to enjoy drinks and chat) - artichoke stuffed with goat cheese - excellent, but hubby had to wait for his drink and his onion soup, which was over-salted. I had ordered mussels and the accompanying fries may well have come in a box from the freezer - most uninteresting. Mussels themselves were delicious and sauce was subtle and flavorful. Hubby ordered bass as main and the whole plate looked and tasted white and bland. I missed the sweet French waiter (man) but the woman was fine and the bus person always very attentive. I think that I'd only go back if I could get a seat at the bar, and would order only wines and small plates. Such a sweet place and most disappointing this time!
I’ve been going to Le P’tit for over 7 years and the quality of food and genuine warm feeling of staff has never diminished. A neighborhood gem that is truly 5 star restaurant.
Overall, we loved it and we will be back. The food was great, service was wonderful and worth every dollar. The only minor quibble is the place is a little crowded. Otherwise, we loved it.
Looking and tasting good!! Great staff!!
Reunion with good friend.
Celebrate my wedding
New owner, same staff, same menu, same kitchen, same convivial and wonderful place. Checked it out last night (first night after the two weeks of being closed) and there was nothing to change our opinion. We have been eating here every Monday night for years and that won't change.
We will miss Laurent!! His energy makes the place!!
it's a cozy neighborhood place, nice to have a full bar and everyone is friendly.
