Le Penguin - Greenwich
Le Penguin is my husband's go to restaurant year round.
Substituted rice with Salmon for spinach - got charged 6 Usd for change
Came across this restaurant by accident. the reviews sounded good with a warning too noisy.
The restaurant is small , but the food is excellent with decent size portions. The price moderate.
Service was excellent-never had to ask for water. The noise level was too much. I had trouble
conversing with the person I came with.
Perfect spot for a delicious lunch near Greenwich Avenue.
What a lovely and delicious meal. We went on Mother's Day after the special Mother's Day crowd had left and, no doubt, the staff was exhausted, but they treated us with grace and kindness. Our little group consisted of a new to being 21, twenty-one year old and her elder parents. Each of us rejoiced in our selections from the halibut special to the short ribs to the lamb. The mussels as an appetizer were plump and juicy and the profiteroles a fitting, celebratory dessert.
This was the best overall set of meals around the table including taste and presentation. Well done!!
Roast chicken and short ribs were dry.
Without sauce the chicken would be inedible.
Service was great
Food should be better cooked for the price
Our new favorite in Greenwich! We visit family occasionally in the area and Le Penguin was recommended. From the time we were seated until our departure, service was impeccable. The trout amandine was the best we’ve ever had, including top restaurants in Paris. The wine selection is outstanding. Looking forward to our next dining experience at Le Penguin!
Nickola is always attentive and professional as loyal server at Le Penguin from day one. The entrees never disappoint and always arrive to the table piping hot!
Love this place. Great food and good service. Cozy little French restaurant
Tables are on top of one another but the food is outstanding and the service was great considering a few initial issues. Our waitress made a couple harmless initial mistakes with drinks but was incredibly apologetic and quick to correct them. I never ever send back food or drink but I actually did send my glass of wine back because i truly disliked the wine I chose. The waitress was totally happy to switch my wine and took it away immediately without issue. Also, my husband left his jacket behind and the staff called me the next day to let me know.
Our food was top notch: cauliflower salad and salmon spread appetizer were both delicious. My husband devoured his steak frites and I loved the soft shell crab special. We also enjoyed the apple tarts for desert. We will be back!
Loved our dinner at Le Penguin. Food was delicious and nicely presented! Truffle fries and mussels delicious! Service was very good. Atmosphere was cozy and fun! Only one complaint, chairs as opposed to the banquet were not terribly comfortable.
Great all around!
We adore Le Penguin. Great food and fantastic service. Our server, Edwin, is wonderful. He always take great care of us.
Ambiance was intimate and nice not too big. Noise level was a bit loud. The food was excellent. I jhad the trout which I would highly recommend.
Favorite place in Greenwich!
Le Penguin has the feel and menu of a traditional French bistro in a cozy but comfortable space off of Greenwich Avenue. The core menu is augmented with seasonal specials and the wine list nicely spans the range from everyday dinners to splurge bottles. Here's a sign that people love this place: every time I visit, at least one table is celebrating a birthday, which the wait staff serenades.
Very good food and excellent service.
Nice lunch crowd and pretty surroundings.
Would definitely go back for lunch.
Le Penguin made such a special birthday experience for my 79 year old Mom, who loves French food. We had a fabulous meal and a great time. Thank you!
it's a lively (and somewhat loud) place to eat dinner. the service is good, the food is great, and they do a great job celebrating any occasion. just be prepared for the sound volume.
3rd year for my friends birthday! Soo fun, as always!
Love the celebration. Thx!
The service and food were outstanding. A great place to celebrate a birthday in a fairly intimate setting. Look forward to returning for another great meal.
Le Penquin is my favorite restaurant ! Nicola and the boys are wonderful !!! my wine is on the table before i have been seated. Great job everyone. You're the best.
Great casual dinner I will definitely be back the fressse salad is great I loved
Great food and service!
Had our table and seated right away.
Birthday candle and song.
The service was excellent never an empty glass
Very good lunch as always. Great service, but the place was not even half full. The food was vey good french Bistro food.
Not impressed with this place.
The food was good, but not great.
The service was better than the food.
The hostess was chilly/cold; and not accommodating.
Tables are very close together; which makes intimate conversation difficult.
Noise is surprisingly quiet given how many people are in a small place. At the end of eating our starter, I asked if they can hold off on serving the main meal. I was told this was not possible because it was already being cooked and it literally arrived 30 secs later.
It just felt rushed, given the prices, style of food etc. We were in and out in less then 90 mins incl dessert.
A perfect Friday night. Fish and mussels were ocean fresh. The warm bread is like dessert. And the team are like extended family. Our favorite spot in Greenwich. Five stars every visit.
We like everything about Penguin except the decibels.
The place in very beautiful, we had steak a frites, with bernaise sauce , that was really good, meat excellent. Y had a very good roasted cauliflower with raisins. Ambiance is very nice, service very good. Good wine list.
Overall good experience. Would love to see a soufflé make its way onto the menu.
Everything was excellent. Lunch was served efficiently by the staff. Knowing it was for business, they attended us very well. Good food and good service is a winning combination.
We had one of the best frois gras ever; served with a delicious grainy mustard and caramelized onions.
The dining room has a great vibe as if you were at home.
Love this place! Great moules with amazing fries but also lots of other fab dishes (Tuna Tartare, rillette de saumon, mushroom ravioli to name a few).
Le Penguin is now my favorite restaurant! I love the ambiance and the service is superb. The wait staff remember not only remember me, but they all know what I like to eat and drink - amazing! The food is superb and the plating perfect! I could dine at Le Penguin every single night! Thank you for simply being the restaurant you are! Always, Dodie McCartney
