Le Pavillon Ratings and Reviews
I have eaten at La Pavillon twice: once about 10 years ago and the other time was 10/28/17. The restaurant was not busy when I arrived at 6:05 but it got rather busy by 7:00 pm. Fortunately, I had a reservation. I was promptly seated and waited for my date to arrive. We had a very leisurely meal and did not leave until 9:30 (great first date!)
The food was excellent. We both had onion soup as an appetizer. I had a daily special - a large pork chop that was perfectly prepared. Substituting additional vegetables for mashed potatoes was no problem. My date had the rack of lamb and she said that it was excellent. We did not have dessert. She had a glass of wine and I had a cocktail. With tax and tip, the bill was $84. The total experience made the price very reasonable and I would definitely return to La Pavillon!
Great place. Food was outstanding. Service superb. Corey, our waiter, was phenomenal. Highly recommend this place. Not your typical French restaurant. I had the pork shank special and it was huge - I couldn't finish it and I'm the type that will eat everything on the plate. Hands down the best meal my wife and I had in St Augustine during our 3 day stay.
This restaurant is a St. Augustine local favorite of ours. Menu is unique with its German specialties. We especially enjoy the sauerbraten and sausages. Then there are the crepes and sometimes they have Prime Rib as a Chef's Special. All are good. This is the first time we arrived in time to try the Early Bird special. The amount of food was smaller, but it was certainly enough. Good meal for a good value!
Food was excellent. We were there because, Le Pavillon, prepares bouillabase chowder, the best . All food, was tasty, and service was great. Will be back again. Tell the chef, to keep up
the excellent cooking. Next time I want to taste your crepes. Also it was my birthday.
Always an enjoyable place for a good dinner. Unfortunately my mashed potatoes were less than lukewarm, but delicious anyway. My filet mignon was almost fork tender even though more medium than medium rare. Really goof flavor, though. The carrots were a pleasant surprise, cut in small chunks and had a marvelous flavor. The Parmesan toast was the best I've had there, and that's saying a lot.
My friend raved about her rack of lamb
I could not ask for better, more attentive service than we had.
My husband and I love European food and thought we would try out La Pavilion. We took our two girls (10 and 7). The appetizers were delicious! My daughter ordered the french onion soup and devoured the entire bowl before I was able to get a bite! The rest of us enjoy the brie which had a black cherry compote with it. It was very good as well. My favorite entree would have to be the lamb. It was so tender and had a wonderful texture in my mouth. The seasoning was perfect and the potatoes and veggies accompanied it very well. Overall, we all enjoyed the dished very much and would definitely go back when we visit St. Augustine in the future.
We had two filets and one ribeye at the table. All three steaks were overcooked. The medium was well done, the medium rare steaks were barely pink so maybe medium.
The soups were great.
The salads were very small and served on bread plates. The salad dressings were good but salads so small!
The food saved the day. Crab cake appetizer was excellent along with the lamb and veal. The service is in desperate need. Our waitress had to come back and ask my wife 3 times what wine she ordered. From what I hear there are a few good wait staff but we did not get one that night.
Le Pavillon is a good restaurant in Saint Augustine, with a lot of history. It is NOT a French restaurant, or European restaurant for that matter! The food is good and the menu does offer a variety, and tries to be European in terms of certain dishes that are offered. There is a full service bar, an acceptable, but not impressive wine selection, and some featured cocktails. The restaurant is significantly short staffed for waiters/captains, and therefore, complaints about the service (i.e. the time to be greeted, drink & wine ordered, dinner order placed, and other lack of attention to detail items of the like) are numerous and pervasive, but the waiters are friendly, and try to be attentive to the patrons' needs. Le Pavillon is not a fine dining restaurant but is does cater to families, and to an older patronage (early birds), with many returning customers. It is worthy of a visit, and I would return, without the high expectations of other restaurants in the Saint Augustine area about which I have written. Oh, there is on site parking making that facet less of a hassle.
This dinner was to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary with our two sons. The meal was absolutely wonderful for cocktails to desert. is is hard to believe that we have not been in the restaurant for 20 years since it is such an perfect dining experience the last time we were here and this time. We will be returning more often in the future.
This was another visit to Le Pavillon, our "go-to" eatery in St. Augustine. Shrimp, Sauerbrauten and Schnitzel were the main courses, with French Onion Soup and Scallops for appetizers. Excellent service and recommendations, always a part of Le Pavillon, were in evidence again for this visit and did not fail! We'll be back again.
Set in an old house with its own parking lot this is European feeling restuarant. Some of their specialties are German fare with spatzle and red cabbage, duck and veal dishes. Has a full liquor bar and adequate wine list.
Stopped by while visiting St. Augustine with wife and in-laws. Everyone enjoyed the food and found the staff very friendly. Service was a little slow, but keeping with the style of restaurant. By that I mean, it is a nicer restaurant where you go to dine, not eat quickly. For our party it was also very convenient, as out hotel was directly across the street. We all agreed we would recommend Le Pavillion to others, and would eat there again if in St. Augustine.
Le Pavillon was the site of our first dinner date many years ago and we dined there numerous times after that, including our recent anniversary. The restaurant has been at the same location for a long time and never disappoints! Originally, we sought out Le Pavillon because of its German cuisine offerings (I had sauerbraten again on this recent visit) which are excellent. Additionally, the restaurant has a wide variety of other food choices which should appeal to any diner.
We have always had very attentive service from friendly and knowledgeable wait staff. The food prices are very reasonable. Enjoy!
I was not impressed. We went for Mother's Day (first visit) and did not know that they were only offering a limited menu....6 entrees. There were 3 of us, we ordered grouper (it was dry), veal (it was tough) and beef tenderloin (it was just OK). Bread was tasty and blue cheese salad dressing was good.
On the upside service was good, our server was attentive and pleasant and the ambiance was cute.
Didn't order any alcohol or coffee or dessert and bill was $100. Definitely not worth it. Will not be going back.
Do Not go to this restaurant.
We had reservations and arrived before the time of the reservation.
We waited over 20 minutes to have our drink order taken.
Everything took way longer than it should.
We were there 1.5 hours before we got our food.
We repeatedly asked for the manager and he never came to our table. He was in the restaurant but did not come to our table after multiple requests.
When we complained to all the various people who came by the table to ask how we were doing (that were NOT the manager), we received a 10% reduction on our check. Practically an insult.
There were 3 other tables in the dinning area and they all had the same LONG wait. A family had one of the children fall asleep waiting to get fed.
I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone for any occasion.
