Le Pavillon Ratings and Reviews
We came with a group of 15 and everything was great. A group of 15 is not easy and many times things aren’t always good. Everything about the evening was good. The waitress was excellent, the food was hot and all meals came out together, everything was served in a timely fashion. I strongly recommend the restaurant.
Not sure if we hit there on an off night or what. Three of us dining and everyone of got our meals served at different times. I think the problem was with the kitchen staff. The waiter apologize about 10 times. He actually comped me a glass of wine due to the wait. That delay of food coming out of the kitchen was happening to all of the tables in my area. Really felt bad for the wait staff as it was not his fault. I would go back but definitely make sure you have plenty of time to sit around and wait.
This was a hit or miss find for us. It was Christmas Eve in St. Augustine, Fl. and we found the restaurant on the net. It was a reasonably good choice for us. My wife's Grouper was spectacular. My veal Francaise was passable. The veal was not pounded and cut and ate like steak. For a French restaurant, it could have, and should have been much better.
The one flaw in our experience was the fact that the restaurant allowed guests in that were wearing T-shirts and hoodies! They looked like slobs on Christmas Eve and the staff made no attempt to persuade them to go elsewhere. I guess the dollar was more important than their reputation as an upscale French restaurant. I know this is a tourist environment but sometimes an establishment should maintain the standards that they impose on themselves. If you offer yourself up as a fine dining experience, then walk the walk.
Went I guess my expectations where to high. Service was very slow and never introduced to us.
App was OK as was the salad; my meal was fair; the fish my wife got was no more than 3 to 4 oz ( poor for the evening special ).
They need more help; two servers for over 50 dinners in our area ( I felt bad for them ). They where running around !!
This has been one of our favorite restaurants for 30 plus years. It has never disappointed us, and this was no exception. The Oysters Rockefeller are wonderful and my husband and I both had the Filet Mignon, which was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented.
We went to this restaurant based on its rating on Trip Advisor; however, we were disappointed in the food and the service. We arrived during happy hour and were pleased to be offered a German Pilsner 2 for 1. This was a good start. We had made a reservation through Open Table and were seated at 7:15 pm for a 7 pm reservation. The bread was good but our poor server was being run ragged. I commented that it looked like there were very short handed and she said that they were not short-handed but had a party of 20 'in the back' that was causing the slow service. I ordered the German Plate--they were out of the pork shoulder & were going to substitute ham which I declined. My husband ordered the steak. We waited about 45 min for our food to arrive. Mine was okay. My husband's steak was tough/grisly & the whole plate was cold. He has not sent food back in a very long time. He simply asked for it to be removed from the table & from the tab which they did. We would not go back if service was this poor AND they were not short handed.
I lived in NYC for many years & developed a passion quality food in a nice setting. I've eaten at Le Pavillon several times & have never been disappointed. Fantastic filet mignonette, vegetables fresh & delicious, and a butter lettuce salad - just some of my favorites. Out of the majority restaurants in St Augustine, this is a hidden gem - and has a parking lot for patrons!
I have eaten at La Pavillon twice: once about 10 years ago and the other time was 10/28/17. The restaurant was not busy when I arrived at 6:05 but it got rather busy by 7:00 pm. Fortunately, I had a reservation. I was promptly seated and waited for my date to arrive. We had a very leisurely meal and did not leave until 9:30 (great first date!)
The food was excellent. We both had onion soup as an appetizer. I had a daily special - a large pork chop that was perfectly prepared. Substituting additional vegetables for mashed potatoes was no problem. My date had the rack of lamb and she said that it was excellent. We did not have dessert. She had a glass of wine and I had a cocktail. With tax and tip, the bill was $84. The total experience made the price very reasonable and I would definitely return to La Pavillon!
Great place. Food was outstanding. Service superb. Corey, our waiter, was phenomenal. Highly recommend this place. Not your typical French restaurant. I had the pork shank special and it was huge - I couldn't finish it and I'm the type that will eat everything on the plate. Hands down the best meal my wife and I had in St Augustine during our 3 day stay.
This restaurant is a St. Augustine local favorite of ours. Menu is unique with its German specialties. We especially enjoy the sauerbraten and sausages. Then there are the crepes and sometimes they have Prime Rib as a Chef's Special. All are good. This is the first time we arrived in time to try the Early Bird special. The amount of food was smaller, but it was certainly enough. Good meal for a good value!
Food was excellent. We were there because, Le Pavillon, prepares bouillabase chowder, the best . All food, was tasty, and service was great. Will be back again. Tell the chef, to keep up
the excellent cooking. Next time I want to taste your crepes. Also it was my birthday.
Always an enjoyable place for a good dinner. Unfortunately my mashed potatoes were less than lukewarm, but delicious anyway. My filet mignon was almost fork tender even though more medium than medium rare. Really goof flavor, though. The carrots were a pleasant surprise, cut in small chunks and had a marvelous flavor. The Parmesan toast was the best I've had there, and that's saying a lot.
My friend raved about her rack of lamb
I could not ask for better, more attentive service than we had.
My husband and I love European food and thought we would try out La Pavilion. We took our two girls (10 and 7). The appetizers were delicious! My daughter ordered the french onion soup and devoured the entire bowl before I was able to get a bite! The rest of us enjoy the brie which had a black cherry compote with it. It was very good as well. My favorite entree would have to be the lamb. It was so tender and had a wonderful texture in my mouth. The seasoning was perfect and the potatoes and veggies accompanied it very well. Overall, we all enjoyed the dished very much and would definitely go back when we visit St. Augustine in the future.
