Great food, drinks, and service - perfect trifecta for a neighborhood Gem!
We were on a family weekend trip with our 8 month old son. We are so sensitive to others’ experiences and don’t want to annoy or upset people if our little one starts to get cranky. This place was awesome. It was on the louder side and all of the staff was SO friendly. If we lived in Carlsbad area, this would definitely be a regular place for us. The food was great and the wine was generpusly poured-that always makes this mama happy! Our server was so sweet. She chatted with us, loved on our baby and made our experience awesome. And in fact our little guy got cranky towards the end of our dinner. Luckily it was getting busy and the noise level was higher so hopefully most didn’t even notice.
We were referred to Le Papagayo by a friend who raves about this restaurant. Her ‘raves’ were accurate and we thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. Our server was excellent and helpful with our questions about ordering. It is far for us, but we were attending a fund raiser in Cardiff and so chose this restaurant. Outside of the difficulty in finding parking, everything was excellent!
I live in the neighborhood and loved to show it off to a visiting friend. We shared our two selections and enjoyed both!
We loved the food! Everything was delicious especially the flatbread with prosciutto and arugula. Ambiance was great too.
It was great but very cold where we were sitting inside. We needed a heater there!
Love this restaurant. Lots of great food choices. Quick, friendly service.
Food wasn’t as good as it usually is. Salad wasn’t dressed enough. Poke was definitely not as good as usual. Drinks we actually WAY too strong (to complain about this is hard but true). This is a favorite spot so we will be back but just a bit disappointed.
Papagayo is my favorite restaurant in the world. For ten years I lived 250 steps from its front door, and I made full use of that advantage. As I rated in my review, everything about The Parrot is the best, but it’s the people who put it over the top. The original owner Francois was amazing, and a great friend, and the current owners are trying hard and doing a pretty good job. The people though—I consider the servers, bus boys, waiters/waitresses, bartenders, etc. personal friends, and the local musicians could not be nicer, especially the John Bennett Band, Lou Shook’s Sole machine, 3 on a Tree, Jeff Moore, and all the others. They could have one or two more parking spots, though.
Great menu. Especially loved all the gf options. We will for sure be back.
Always a great experiance and really good food. Were from Gilbert AZ and always eat here on our beach vacations.
We’ve been before but this time good wasn’t good except one item. They sat us in a very drafty area and loud. Ordered a skinny margarita and it tasted like dirty water sent back. Ordered ceviche shrimp tomatoes onions with no taste and stale chips . Grilled artichoke had almost no meat on leaves and chicken spring rolls greasy and not good. Honestly for $90 for three people only one who has a glass of wine value stunk and we won’t go back even though we are local
The food was excellent and the waitstaff were outstanding! They were very busy but saw to our table before we needed a thing. They work so efficiently as a team. I've been there several times and I am always extremely pleased. The live music is great! Overall, I highly recommend Le Papagayo !
My wife and I spend our few and far between evenings out together with the great folks at Le Papagayo. The staff is always courteous and quick to ensure that we are taken care of. We've never had a dish that we didn't enjoy and tell our friends to give them a try! Thanks so much Le Papagayo for continuously making our nights out special :)
We love this restaurant and go every time we are in town the atmosphere on the patio is very nice especially in the evening we were there Valentine’s Day and inside the restaurant was much louder and not as relaxing the food choices are great and the service was good we will stop again when we are in town
Paella was delicious, my friend got the salmon and she loved it, and the calamari.
We had a great time, waitress was great and I seen her there for many years. We had a date night and really enjoyed the food and dancing little bit bye our table. Over all love your place and we have been coming now little over 5 years. Thanks for a wonderful evening. Amy
I love the food, the menu and the patio! We bring all our out of town guests for a great dinner!
Great music every night
Can’t go wrong we go at leas once per week
Great consistent place . One thing bothered me I was going to this restaurant for year the previous owner was greeting me every time . The new ownership they have a manager who treated me nicely
This time I had reservation they gave me a small table in the corner for 2 the couple behind us came in and they gave them a big table nice . I asked for the manager they told me the owner is here today the owner ( I think was greeting everybody and he ignored my table ) the server was a great lady the person who served water remembered me and treated us nicely . I am not sure about the new owner or if it was him why he made a point to avoid me . I purchased gift cards from there for any friend or family who moved there . I loved that place . But now I am upset
And don’t know if I will go there again
Good food, nice music, good service, local ambience. Ya gotta love it......................!
The three of us were very pleased with the food, wine, service and being able to sit outdoors. The food was excellent! Vicente Padilla
Consistently excellent food and service. Everyone greatly enjoyed their meals. Highly recommended.
The food was good, but pricey. They added a 20% gratuity to the bill for a table of eight. We sat inside near the outdoor patio, which wasn't the best because the servers were constantly walking by with food orders. The outdoor lower patio looked inviting, but it was reserved for other guests.
Le Papagayo is a favorite. Always fun, nightly music, outside dining with lots of heaters and great casual food. Who could want for more!
Arrived and was told they couldn’t honor my reservation and I would have to wait in line with walk-ins. Horrible customer service. Horrible management.
Always a pleasure to dine @ Papagayo....The happy hour has excellent selections at a true value!
Love this restaurant. The food is amazing and the prices are good. Sometimes the service can be a bit slow. The music is very loud, if you want to enjoy conversation, sit outside. The patio is wonderful!
We love this restaurant and have never had a bad meal! Favorites are the bread and pesto, chicken satay and wahine salad. Just a fun place to enjoy some great food and music!
Typical Beach community atmosphere. Food was excellent and service very good.
Amazing home made Pesto sauce! Cocktail Drinks were pretty good too
The food was superb, the service very good but the ambiance was missing. We could not hear each other over the band; worse yet, bar patrons hung over our table. Despite this, we would return again for the food if it was warm enough to sit outside or there was no band playing. All meals, especially the seafood were amazing! Pricing is very reasonable for the high quality of the food and generous portion size.
Very tasty variety of foods, from calamari strips to lobster ravioli. Highly recommend the pesto and fresh bread, super tasty. Good service and atmosphere.
Great for going to get a cock-tail. Food was ok. A little over priced.
There were six in our party and we each had something different for our meals. Everyone RAVED about their choice. Will definitely be back.
They have live music every night! And all day happy hour (drink and appetizer specials) on Tuesdays :)
Never a disappointment! Excellent service. Excelent food and menu! Unique place. Perfect for special occasions!
Sadly the whole experience was not very good. Appetizer - crab cake was frozen in the middle - sent it back after tracking down wait staff after 10 min. It came back out long after the main course. Staff was disorganized and dressed in whatever they wanted to wear (killed the ambiance). Main course (prime rib) was good but nothing special. I really think this restaurant could be amazing if it had some structure, quality control and standards. I may try it again at some point but really bummed I wasted my new years dinner here.
The food is exceptional. Ambiance is warm and cozy. Service top shelf. I’ll be back!
Wow. Don't know how this place has escaped us for the last few years. Killer seafood and other stuff. Nice selection of beer. Good wine list. Parking is interesting but Leucadia always is a little challenging but much easier than Del Mar or Encinitas. We will become regulars. Just a cool place.
