Le Montréalais - Fairmont Le Reine Elizabeth - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
We took the train from Kingston to Montreal for the sole purpose of enjoying lunch with friends from overseas. This bistro in the Fairmont Queen E right next to the Central Station was the perfect spot to meet our friends. The service was good and friendly, the food was delicious and our friends especially enjoyed the special lobster season menu. My salmon dish was very tasty, although the cooked endives were a little tough. We were able to linger and enjoy the afternoon without feeling rushed at all. It was quiet and we had a view of the outdoors. I would return.
Commentaire constructifs ...
Bonne journée !
I took my mother to the Queen Elizabeth for a weekend for her 85th birthday, and we ate at this restaurant a few times. Each time, everyone was very friendly, and very accommodating. Adrian, the bartender, was particularly friendly and was very accommodating when we were ordering lunch at the bar. We also had a special dinner, and were surprised with a birthday piece of cake for my mother. Very thoughtful. She enjoyed herself thoroughly, and a lot of it had to do with the restaurant and its staff.
I had made a reservation a week prior and asked to be seated in a quiet section of the restaurant. I explained that it was my husband's 65th Birthday (very significant) and asked if I could order a piece of cake with a candle. I was told that I could arrange it all once I arrived at the restaurant.
There was no cake I could order, as they only offer a sweet table at a large additional cost. This was extremely disappointing and we left with no coffee or dessert.
As well, I must say we were less than impressed from the get -go, when the person seating us never even looked to see my reservation
to see that it was a very special occasion. The bread basket arrived with three small pieces of cold bread. All together a dismal and unfortunate experience.
The special menu for the maple based items was a great experience. This was our choice for the evening and it was inclusive of appetizers, main course and dessert choices as well. Good value and very tasty. Staff was very helpful with making choices and the portion sizes were just right. Very nice atmosphere as well.
We found the service slow despite it not being busy. We ordered drinks for our children that never arrived. The food was ok but my husband's meat was overdone and the waiter knew it but brought it anyways asking if he minded it being a bit overdone. Why not just bring it as he ordered it for the price you pay? I've been to other fairmont restaurants in other cities that were far superior for food and service. Meh.
We decided to visit Le Montréalais on the spur of the moment while spending a couple of days in Montreal with our kids. Hotel restaurants are never my first choice, but there are some notable exceptions.
The service was great. Our server was friendly and accommodating, and we felt at ease eating there with our kids.
They make an excellent mojito. We ordered from the kids menu for our daughters and they both enjoyed their meals. My wife and I ordered an appetizer, bison tataki which was enjoyable but not exciting.
There was a considerable wait between our appetizer and the main course, during which time both my kids completely finished their meals. Although I would've preferred a slightly faster service, I can appreciate a meal at a relaxed pace.
My wife had salmon while I opted for Lac Brome duck breast. Both dishes were tasty, but like the appetizer, did not blow us away.
Desserts were delicious. They have a nice selection at their dessert table.
All in all a positive experience, but if you're looking for gastronomic adventures, you might look elsewhere.
We had a working business lunch for 7 people on a Saturday. We wanted a relatively quiet table and found this up on the mezzanine. We all ordered completely different meals. My wife and I had the fillet of black cod which was outstanding, maybe the best fish dish that we have ever had, congratulations to the chef. Service, food, location was all great.
l'accueil très chaleureux, le plat (morue noire) très bonne mais l'accompagnement complètement froid; malheureusement mon mari et moi qui avons mangé tous les deux la morue noire avons eu une intoxication alimentaire le soir et lendemain
Went here with my fiancé for brunch last Sunday and I have to say I was disappointed. The layout of the buffet is horrid... Families eating had people's bums right in their faces as they lined up for the buffet. The crepe station was also right next to a family with young children. I could not imagine having people right next to you like that as you tried to enjoy a 39$ brunch! While I have no complaints for the food, I felt the price for what you got was severely lacking. I have been to several other brunches for 23-30$ that were exceptional and were much better than this (Chateau Vaudreuil, Auberge des Gallants, Atlantide Golf, Mon Village). I would not recommend to someone nor will I be returning.
The evening started well with a quiet table. The server attended to us with menus promptly . After that we had to flag him down to get any service. I observed the same lack of service at 2 other nearby tables.
The food was well plated but not hot.
We requested the bill 2 times and in the end we left without receiving our bill but with giving our room number at the desk for the charge to be applied there. Unfortunately it ruined a romantic evening which was supposed to be the pinnacle of a weekend get away.
The restaurant is in the The Queen Elizabeth Hotel which is atop the Central Montreal Train station. It's location is great for any visit to Montreal. The decor is elegant and quiet.
Beautiful bar and lounge area. Our dinner was very good and priced fairly. The wait
staff are professionals and make you feel you are their only interest. I would recommend
this restaurant for anyone staying in Montreal
This is the Go To Brunch spot for guests and locals in Montreal. Beautiful presented and served and delicious well prepared food. Oh and it is a bargain too. Our server, Sebastian from James Bay, was terrific. Engaging, pleasant and well trained he made the experience all that much better.
Hotel is closing in June 2016 for a complete make-over but you could not tell by our trip there.
Very good ambiance. There are some great options on the menu for all tastes. Great protein choices and amazing salads. They had a very nice table d’hôte the night we were there which featured an amazing salmon main course and a very nice potato leak soup. Our server was great. He made a slight error on the order of food but made up for it right away and he was very engaging.
All in all a very nice evening.
I went with 2 friends for dinner we each ordered of their seasonal menu which focus on game meat and squash. Ordered the deer rack, rabbit rolls and beef tar tar. All were amazing. This is my second time here I came especially for the tartar and it did not disappoint
First of all, my reservation through open table was not recorded at the restaurant. I had to call back to book a table because they didn't have me in the system. Once we were there the service was extremely slow and the food was average. Their scones were cold and they didn't heat the water for the tea hot enough. I was looking forward to a wonderful experience based on the reputation of the hotel but was very disappointed .
