Love this place food is amazing and service is second to none!
The dining room was very hot even though it was 8pm. Had been years ago and remembered it was a a great place. Completely disappointed though. It has backslid terribly. Felt like mid 80s in temperature and other patrons were also complaining about the heat. Front stone facade is falling off. They had a few Dyson fans they were moving around in the dining room, but they need to invest in more than portable fans (the HVAC system). Escargot was OK but not near as good as Cafe Rabalais. Not very flavorful-butter and parsley but little garlic. Ribeyes were not high quality cuts but were seasoned nicely. Definitely not worth the price which was higher than Pappas. All in all, for solid French, I’d go elsewhere. Cafe Rabalais is 2/3 the price but double to ambiance, comfort and quality. For solid steaks, I’d go elsewhere. Pappas, STQ, Steak48.
The food was excellent. I had always wanted to try this restaurant and Houston Restaurant Month was my opportunity. They were very busy but the staff was up for the challenge and the service was excellent. I've been missing out and the full menu has many entrees I need to try - soon!
The food is outstanding and the service is friendly and professional. Easily one of Houston's best restaurants.
Best meal I’ve had in Houston. Attentive smart service. We’ll most definitely return!
We visited Le Mistral during Houston Restaurant week, but in actuality it was just an excuse to go out to one of my mother-in-law’s favorite restaurant. The food was tasty and beautifully presented and the service was impeccable. We really like the ambiance at Le Mistral It has a modern feel with lots of light flowing in from the windows. It’s elegant and comfortable at the same time. Nice for a romantic night out or a dinner out with friends.
I feel like we caught this place on the downhill slide...after hearing great things about it years ago, I was surprised to see it so empty for dinner service and the place next door more exciting. We sat at a table right in front of the double doors that exited to a courtyard type patio and just felt like we were in an odd spot. Service was good, escargot was bland, tasted like parsley and the drinks & wine were fine. Sea bass was tasty and the pork belly was decent but dessert was forgettable. I’m sorry, the expectations were higher because of previous accolades and it just didn’t live up to the hype. The dining room and bar were empty... not sure what happened... tons of awards 4-5 years ago...
Food was amazing and a good value as it takes a considerable amount of effort to deliver at such high standards. All the little things like timing, food temp, butter softness, bread quality - on point. Friendly welcoming staff. Clean table linens and above all, delicious high quality cuisine in an unsuspecting location of Houston.
Excellent food and service. We will definitely go back.
Excellent service and delicious food. Highly recommend!
This is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is always delicious. I have been going for years and the staff have not changed. They go out of their way to make your dining experience a great one.
Service was appalling. No attention to refill wine or water
It was awesome
Fantastic. Our first time. The veal was perfect. So was the lamb. Alyssa was spot on. Thank you for making the Birthday celebration the best...
The food, ambiance, and service at Le Mistral was simply excellent. We will definitely be back. Thank you, Georgina and team for a wonderful evening.
Food was excellent and the service was also great. Quiet place to eat lunch and also have discussion as the noise level was low.
Very good business lunch composition. Food & service excellent
I had not been to Le Mistral in awhile and this time was quite disappointed - used to be one of my go to restaurants for a special occasion. The food is still good (although not as good as it was in the past) but the service was not great (there was a fly in the water dispensed from the water jug) and their air conditioning was not working so it was uncomfortably warm while having dinner. I used to not mind paying top dollar for excellent food and great service but based on this latest experience, I would not pay again.
Excellent French restaurant in Houston- probably the best.
Le Mistral’s service exceed our expectations! Sofiane, our server, went above and beyond, to make our birthday lunch gathering a memorable experience! The quality of food was excellent too!
They provided our party of 7, a private room without us requesting and made our birthday girl’s day, with a surprise birthday dessert and in-house cook book as a gift!
We’ll definitely return again!
Outstanding food and service, tasty courses served graciously. Yes we will go back.
Second time and it was just as great as the first. The only issue I had was they forgot to bring my salad after the appetizer. We just went straight into the entree and the salad had been forgotten
Very pleasant environment with excellent food and wine.
I used to frequent this restaurant 10 years ago every other Saturday with an ex fiancé and I just couldn’t wait to get back to see if it was still as good as I remembered it to be and I was still impressed! The food is so delicious and I still love it! I hate the bread baskets aren’t given out anymore. Our waiter was very short and brisk with us and out of all days for the AC to be broken it had to be on my birthday dinner! It was honestly very hot and I felt sorry for the cooks if we were burning up I could only imagine for them! But no matter, they still offered very worthy cuisine so to them, thank you.
The Mother’s Day special was more of a tasting than a meal, albeit its description and price. The taste and presentation were excellent, but the portions were so very small.
The service and cuisine was excellent and the way the staff interacted with our children made our day. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys fine food
This was our first time to Le Mistral. It was a lovely experience. The food was fantastic and I will definitely return. Zagat ratings were worthy!
Good service. I asked for my favorite Malbec wine but although was on the menu it was not available that night, waitress suggested another Argentinian Malbec and that saved the night. Great ambient to have a conversation. Definitely I will recommend it,
Excellent service, mushroom soup is delicious
Thanks to my beloved husband who was working abroad on my birthday, we had a lovely belated celebration at Le Mistral Restaurant. All who know me well understand that Spanish and Hispanic food is my obsession, but there is something about this French restaurant that has caught my fancy. The food (escargot in a garlicky sauce sopped up with a crusty baguette) a petite surf and turf) did not disappoint, nor did the surprise at the end. They even served me a double espresso at the end while pointing out that the French do not like coffee with a twist of lemon. I do, and they did.
Outstanding dinner. Ordered both the seared foie gras and foie gras terrine - they were very different from each other and each was outstanding. Beet salad was delicious! Veal osso buco was phenomenal, as was the duck duo entree. Desserts were incredible - it takes great skill to make a chocolate souffle rise so high! Overall, an amazing dining experience at probably the best French restaurant in Texas. Would definitely return for special/romantic occasions, anniversaries, etc.
We came to celebrate our wedding anniversary! Our server was great! She make some suggestions and she was very knowledgeable. We had the foie gras and the beef carpaccio and both were Delicious! Then we had the osso bucco and the steak. I was blowned by the sauce, I wanted to have the whole pot to go! Thank you so much for the experience, we will definitely come back!
Everything at Le Mistral is excellent. The food is delicious, the service impeccable (Sofiane is our favorite), and we always leave happy. It’s a great place for a special dinner and also great for lunch - the lunch menu has very reasonably-priced lunch entrees if dinner is too costly for your budget. Some of our favorites include the lobster risotto, sea bass, French fries, and chocolate fondant.
The restaurant, food, and service at the Le Mistral restaurant was outstanding. The only problem encountered was upon returning home, we had a telephone call from the restaurant and two or three e-mails from Open Table asking why we had not showed up for our reservation???? We had a 5:30 reservation and arrived at 5:25, and were seated at 5:30. We were the only 5:30 reservation and no other diners showed up until 6:00. Could not understand the confusion.
Service was slow and inattentive. Food was good and ambiance was pleasant as always.
When we go to eat at a french restaurant, we HAVE to get escargot. Le Mistral’s is very tasty. The snails were perfectly tender and highlighted by their garlic butter that kept them bright without being overpowered.
The business lunch special is a fantastic value. Soup or Salad, daily changing entree, and dessert for under $30. Yes, please. I had the Mistral salad which was lovely dressed with blueberries and zippy balsamic vinaigrette. But, the shining star was the entree- Seared Shrimp kebabs over spinach risotto with a cognac sauce. Deliciously decadent! I know I will be craving that dish for a while to come. A beautifully light sorbet finished off the meal. My mother lIves near here, and although it was our first time dining at Le Mistral, she sees herself as a future frequent diner, and cannot wait to bring all of her gal pals here.
I was allowed to make a reservation 30 minutes before closing. However, we were rushed through our meal and then told we could not order dessert. When asked for recommendations, we were told “everything is good, just pick something.” I believe the quality of a restaurant should be judged on how they treat every customer, from the first to the last. If the restaurant cannot support reservations made within 1 hour of their closing, then they should not allow reservations during that time. For this alone, I will not dine at this restaurant again.
First time at this restaurant. My wife and I chose Le Mistral for our anniversary dinner, and we were very happy we did. The waiters were attentive, friendly, and fluent in French. The food was delicious - the osso bucco was outstanding. For dessert, we had a chocolate souffle that was incredible. We have already recommended this restaurant to our parents, and we will definitely be back again!
Lovely dining and we had a 10 month old little grandson with us. He was so happy to be there and smiled at everyone who paid attention to him. The food was superb and also the ambiance in the restaurant. We ( my daughter ) and I enjoyed so much everything about the service, food and the courtesy we received from the staff. A lovely afternoon in a lovely place.
