Le Midi Bar & Restaurant
Service at Le Midi was so friendly and accommodating that I hate to leave a mixed review. But honestly the food was just ok. Caesar salad was ordinary, gravlax had a very odd taste (to be clear, not "off", just didn't taste like gravlax at all). Berry tart again pretty ordinary. Even the cappuccino was weak. Sorry guys. Hope this helps.
Have had a few good dinners at this smallish place before so thought I would try lunch. Was not disappointed. My cousin and I had omelets Excellent choice. Very nice helpful service. We needed time to catch up on old times together as kids and the staff left us alone until we were ready. Look forward to another visit.
Mains sat for so long before being served, the food was cold. They attempted to reheat and food was inedible. To their credit, they did not charge for entree. Blame server or expediter. Restaurant was not at all busy so don’t get the lack of attention
Wonderful service, very accommodating menu and staff were very friendly.
We always have a great experience here. This is one of the low key no-pressure French bistros with great service and great food. Prix fix is a great value, and there are always several specials outside the main menu. Great place for a talk with friends, or just a bar stop on the way home!
Yes, we benefited from the fact that it was the first night of Passover, the surrounding colleges were closed and it was raining!
This is not our first (or our last) visit. The food is good, tough i have had better bistro fare. Stick to the basics: French Onion Soup, Escargot, Salmon & Avocado Tartare, Boeuf Bourguignon & Entrecôte (steak frites). Wine selection is good & fairly priced. Service is friendly and attentive.
Will we come here again (the acid test)? Without question!
My favorite date spot in Union Square. It's a simply menu but everything is good. You can't go wrong. Fried scallops are a must as is tatare. The toffee desserts with ice cream is worth dying for. Highly recommended
Clients had a great time; ambience was key and it was buzzy yet they could hear each other. Just small plates, which were delicious, and service top notch - they'd recommend!
Le Midi is a classic bistro. Lovely room-though the noise carries. Food was very good. We had snails and octopus salad for starters and rack of lamb and coq au vin for entrees. All well prepared. Not outstanding but a very good value. We’ll be back.
Well-prepared food. Nice and spacious dining room and bar. Wonderful service with heart!
We’ve loved Midi since it opened. The food, service and everything else are perfect. It has the best steak tartare in this city.
Had a lovely prix fixe weekday lunch here. I opted for the lentil soup and the loup de mer. The soup might have had a bit too much salt but I'm quite salt-sensitive. One of my companions had it as well and said it was fine. Another companion had the onion soup and said it was fantastic. The loup was truly excellent. It had a light sauce I think with some turmeric or cumin in it. But very lightly spiced. It was served on a small bed of spinach, cherry tomatoes and hearts of palm. Our waiter was very kind and professional and the maitre d' was charming. I will make a point of returning. Oh, and the noise level was quite low. No doubt because its was lunchtime and there were only about half of the tables filled.
From all the restaurants we tried during our most recent visit to NYC, this was the least earth-shattering experience. Nothing special other than Greenwich Village location and proximity to The New School.
Nice French restaurant. Very good service. Excellent food and drinks.
The food was delicious and our server was exceptionally gracious.
All the food was too expensive. There is no longer a hamburger option, the bouillabase was light on seafood and had an odd flavor of seafood seasoning, the vibe is good, the high ceilings great, the waitress lovely, but, place falls down on the food and the expense.
The food was terrfic, and the prices were reasonable. The service was excellent. The acoustics are bad, very noisy. The ambiance is good.
Great in every way!
Very authentic French bistro. Lots of classic dishes very well executed.
Perfect brunch spot - quiet, relaxed ambiance. Good for conversation. Portions are huge and food is beautifully served. Waiters were very kind and bussers were attentive.
Great food...best French onion soup I ever had! Excellent service.
Love this restaurant! Well-prepared French and amazing service.
I was disappointed with the octopus, the salmon was very good but nothing special. The mushroom Ravioli was very good. Waiter was lovely and attentive.
Everything was wonderful! I was welcomed as soon as I walked in the door and everyone from hostess, to manager, to server was gracious.
I had the prix fixe menu - salad, coq au vin, caramel custard. Coq au vin was delicious and perfectly sized.
Plus happy hour drinks on the weekend!!
Great neighborhood restaurant. I have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. The Menu features some classic French dishes. My dining companion, who was dining here for the first time, had the cow au vin and I had the seared duck breast. We each enjoyed our entrees and our drinks (beer and sparkling wine. Portions are a nice size. Prices are reasonable. The decor is simple but created a comfortable dining experience. We were too full for dessert.
A lovely spot! The service was very good and not obtrusive, and the food was excellent! Good happy deal also. Definitely going back.
The food was some of the worst I’ve ever had - an absolute affront to French dining. The atmosphere was reminiscent of Applebee’s. The waiter was poorly spoken and was better suited for an Applebee’s or even a McDonalds.
Benjamin was our server and the owner greeted us at the door. Food was great we did the dinner pre fix and the happy hour wine was great. Great service and experience. Tons of food for value also.
I absolutely love this place and would go back in 5 seconds. The salmon with mashed potatoes and spinach was fantastic, and the bouchon chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream was outstanding. The waitress was pleasant and attentive. Only two very minor flaws: we had a super-long wait for the dessert, and I wasn't thrilled by the artwork. Otherwise amazing!
Great experience, all around!
A neighborhood gem.
A great, reliable option near Union Square. Prix fix excellent.
I had a birthday dinner at Le Midi. The staff was attentive and accommodating. They made sure we were all taken care of and able to eat off the main menu since we had a number of dietary restrictions.
Will gladly return!
Service was really slow. Food was ok.
Outstanding everything. Warm welcome, caring about a food allergy to ensure they get it right, delicious food, and wonderful warm, friendly ambiance. A Village treasure!
Great place to go after the movies for brunch, lunch or dinner. Quiet, decent food, good prices, friendly service.
This has become a local monthly spot to celebrate during the happy hour- we ADORE the truffle fries, cheese board and this time tried the puff pastry cheese and mushroom appetizer- DELISH! Highly recommended. The service was amazing- very attentive staff.
Oysters are great, crab cake not so-mushy and the sauce overpowered the crab
It's going to be a new haunt for us. It's quiet, so you can hear each other talk. The food and service were excellent, and the bartender is very friendly.
Food was mediocre at best
Happy to have discovered this lovely bistro near Union Square. Menu is varied; good choices for diverse tastes. Service par excellence, food prepared with care and attention to detail. We’ll be back!
