Le Lyonnais Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Both of us chose the fixed price (option 2) menu which was an extremely good value and offered several good choices for each of the three courses. Out waitress Gail was very helpful, attentive and knowlegeable about the menu and French culture. We even received a visit from Gerard, the owner and chef. Try it - you'll like it!
My wife and I had dinner here on our anniversary, and the relaxed, homey, cozy ambiance of this place was perfect, as was the food. The salads we had were large, very fresh, tasty, and imaginatively assembled. Our entrees -- a beef bourguignon and a monk fish -- were tender and tasty, beautifully prepared and complemented with a variety of delicious accompanying foods. Desserts were picture-perfect, heavenly and oh-so-French.
The restaurant itself is the converted home of the chef and his wife, and here you're treated like guests in their home. You're encouraged to linger and chat as your individually prepared courses are presented to you during the time of your stay.
This outstandingly good, unique restaurant is something to treasure.
It's difficult to criticize a privately-owned restaurant that has been a life passion for the owner/chef and is likely beloved by locals. So I won't. Instead, will focus on the preparation of our main courses, which was excellent. And the attentiveness of the servers, which was genuine. On the flip side for those who want full feedback, the space, presentation, ingredients, cocktails and vibe is all dated. But you may be in the mood for a meal that was first prepared when men wore a tie and jacket for dinner. We wouldn't go back, but glad we tried this local institution once. Any business that survives and thrives for 40+ years deserves congratulations.
Delicious French cuisine! Loved this quaint restaurant. It was perfect for a date night for my significant other's birthday. He had duck a l'orange, I had duck breast with raspberry coulis. The duck breast was cooked to perfection - just a bit pink. And both were accompanied by a wonderful assortment of small portions of sides - haricots verts, roasted potatoes, rice with a hint of curry, sautéed zucchini. I had a salad and my dining partner had onion soup, both excellent. We shared a chocolate mousse for dessert, which was the only part of the meal that left some room for improvement. It was doused in cognac - a bit too much for my taste. To be fair, this was disclosed on the menu, but I discounted how much the cognac would detract from the taste of the mousse. This might be fine for those who don't mind a boozy tasting dessert. The bites that didn't have the cognac were delicious. Next time I'd ask if they could do it without the booze. The chef came to everyone's table to chat after the meal - a nice touch. It's super quiet in there. It's a nice place to go if you want to have a conversation with someone. I'd definitely go again!
A little gem getting ready to celebrate it's 46th anniversary. For a restaurant to do that they really need to cater to their customers and put out an excellent product.
Le Lyonnais does both: They pay great attention to the customer and provide an excellent, high quality product. We sampled our way through the menu from appetizers to salads, mains and desserts and every course was excellent.
Looking forward to my next visit!
Le Lyonnais is the place to go if you enjoy fine dining. If noisy restaurants or fast food is your pleasure, you will not be happy with the Le Lyonnais. Only go there if you are in the mood to savor delicious French cuisine in a lovely, relaxed and comfortable setting. I have dined there several times and have never been disappointed. The food is always top-notch. It is freshly prepared while you enjoy the ambiance of the fine restaurant, a good glass of wine, and the people you are with. If that is the experience you are looking for, I highly recommend Le Lyonnais.
My husband and I treated my mother to dinner on the occasion of her 96th birthday. We were sure that she would love the place, and we were right. Our table had a view of the brook running behind the restaurant. The rolls were piping hot and fresh from the oven. A nice selection of French wines: my Malbec was wonderful. The salmon-scallops special that my husband and I ordered was not only delicious but visually beautiful, accompanied by saffron rice and brightly colored vegetables; my mother's selection from the prix fixe menu of sautéed chicken livers in a wine reduction was so tasty when I sampled the dish that I am seriously reconsidering my decades-long avoidance of liver. Desserts were the perfect ending: soft meringue with raspberry coulis and a fresh fruit tart with whipped cream. A great place for special occasions, and a real treat at any time.
In the Westford, MA area on business from Wash DC. Very nice ambiance and great food. Fixed price menu was a very good value. First found this place in FEB-2014 and have been back three times when in the area on business. Menu has a wide range of French cuisine and the food is consistently excellent. Chef make rounds after dinner and is very personable, a nice added touch. We highly recommend this restaurant.
Chef Gerard is amazing! And so is his creative French cusine! The adorable French country themed restaurant and family staff is so inviting and enjoyable! The flavors and notable wine list is also a win win! Love it here ! :) keep up the great work be back soon! <3 jessica and family
We had a wonderful meal for 5 to celebrate a family birthday. The food was delicious with just the right authentic French je ne sait quoi. The wait staff were helpful and courteous, and the atmosphere relaxed and inviting. This restaurant is an oasis: What a lovely surprise to have this little piece of France right on our doorstep.
My wife, my two daughters (young women in their early twenties) and I were in the area for a family wedding on Sunday and chose Le Lyonnaise because we all love traditional French cooking. We were very impressed with the warm and welcoming service, the creativity and quality of the menu offerings, and the home-like ambiance. The vegetable vichyssoise, the salad Gerard, the paella, the rack of lamb, the seafood crepe Bretonne and the desserts were particularly memorable. A wonderful evening for all of us. Our only regret: We live five hours away.
