Le Jardin Ratings and Reviews
Went for Christmas early dinner. Terrific view, but noisy. Nice service. My veal chop was tasteless and nearly over done (I ordered medium rare), but my wife's Red Snapper with scallops, clams and muscles was absolutely terrific! Desserts are huge and really good. Valet parking, thank God!
We love Le Jardin and have been there many times. But last Saturday was not a good experience. There were two extremely noisy Christmas parties plus a pianist and we had to shout to make our conversation heard. We think that the management should have told us when we made the reservation that the experience in the restaurant was going to different. We will probably go back on a quieter night, but not for a while.
We also felt that the food was not as good as it usually is.
Was attracted to this restaurant because of its classification as a "French" restaurant and because of its location on the Hudson with a view of Manhattan. It delivered on both of these counts although the food was just OK and the view of Manhattan is much better further south. The first red flag was the number of specials. When a restaurant has multiple specials, it makes you wonder what is wrong with the regular menu and if they are trying to get rid of product. The tuna special had a not so fresh taste but my veal chop off the regular menu and my banana bread pudding were quite satisfying. My wife was upset about the temperature of her mashed potatos, too cold. Mine were the right temperature and I also have to commend the complimentary bread which was warm and quite good. If I was a local I would come here again but we had to drive an hour to get here and I don't that is worth repeating again.
Le Jardin never disappoints. View is stellar, service is attentive without getting intrusive, and the food is just wonderful. Seafood is always fresh, the kitchen is very flexible about adjusting portion sizes or customized requests. I make it a point to go here whenever I'm close.
It was a great way to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Only thing that put a damper was that a party was going on it the room in front. It was a little bit loud but a bigger problem was the lights from the dj. Maybe curtains could be put up to keep the flashing lights and disco ball lights from the eyes of other guests.
The food and service were great.
I'm sure there are worse restaurants on OpenTable. I just haven't encountered them.
That awkward, awkward 10 minutes between being seated and getting our menus.
That horrible moment when we look at the menus and realize that this "French" restaurant is primarily (bad) Italian cuisine.
The bland, bland, bland, bland food.
This restaurant has a view of the Hudson river and the NYC skyline. If you'd like to pay a lot for bad food, a boring menu, a waiter who never reveals the daily specials, and passive-aggressive hosts, in exchange for a view of water...this is your place.
I have seldom felt so embarassed by a restaurant. Please don't take a date here. Go alone, with the hope that you'll win the lottery and find decent food on the menu. Hint: Order the Italian food which you can get at any NJ diner. That's most of the menu, and it's the only thing with which I'd trust the chef.
Service was very dry i order my steak it came out med well i ask for medium the view was very nice but that was about it i had just got my car washed when i got it back it had mud all over it i would not recommend this restaurant to anyone
The experience was great, I took my husband for his birthday. I left a note at open table letting them know that it was my husband birthday...they didn't acknowledge it which was sad.... overall the restaurant the food and the view was worth it.
When we walked in, it took about 3-4min for the host to come greet us. We were seated without any menus. There was no glass or silverware on the table, nor did anyone bring or ask us if we wanted any water. It took about 8-10min for the waitress to come greet us, we were about to get up and leave, if felt as if no one cared what was going on at the tables. The food was ok, nothing special. I'm not sure why it's considered "French" cuisine, there are only a few traditional French dishes. The Baked goat cheese was good, but was not really warm on the inside. The mushroom ravioli was ok, it must've sat under the heat lamp for a while because the plate was scorching hot. The veal chop was sub par and the sauce was not good. The mashed potatoes were horrible and tasted like they came out of a ready mix processed box of powder mashed potatoes. Our waitress was good, but she was extremely overwhelmed. We were one of 6 full tables plus 2 parties of 8 people she was waiting on all by herself, and her helper was barely helping her. It seemed one of the managers would come and assist here and there, but this place is very under staffed. Sitting outside was nice and because it was outside, it felt quiet, which I really liked. I don't see myself going back.
My fiancé had hair in her food and they didn't take it off the bill nor did Management apologize. It was our anniversary highly disappointed! Not to mention I posted my review on Facebook and they have the nerve to personally attack me and then they block me. This isn't over believe me.
Great Location !!!!!! Great ambiance !!!!!! and that is about it . Once I told my waiter I did not drink he kind of forgot about us until dessert . I had to ask for the specials . I guess if you are not drunk you don't need to know what they are . The crab cake was frozen , I had to hunt someone down to get grated cheese and fresh black pepper. Overall , food was run of the mill and I received better service at my local diner.
Beautiful place to go with a date... if you looking for a spot with nice view and good service... Food itself I will say is pretty good... but had higher expectations for the type of place it was. But Stake was cooked good and my girl liked her stuffed chicken. (my baked potatos were dry/and vegetables little over cooked. The wine was good. Music was on point and service as well... not the waiter much but his helper.
A group of 6 we sat outside. The service was terrible - maybe because the tip is put on for a party of 6? No one asked us whether our food was good or paid attention after the order was taken.
I wouldn't have served my dinner to my dog. By the time I got the attention of wait staff everyone else had the table had finished their meal. Did they comp my dinner - NO!!!
I have dined here several time.
If you take your customer for granted that is the sign of a restaurant headed down hill.
Le Jardin is a great place to have a good lunch or dinner. My favorite is the fettucine with lobster . My other favorite is the chateaubriand. For dessert the key lime pie is wonderful.
I love sitting in the glassed in terrace. On a beautiful summer night, the outdoor terrace is also nice.
