Uninspired standard French brasserie cuisine. High prices reflect West Village rents, I guess. Our hostess was our server and her service was friendly and not rushed. The bread was quite nice.

A gem! Great food. Service thoughout the afternoon. Friendly, pleasant, casual but very well-organized. Great wine list too - limited, like the menu & the seating but all are perfectly formed.

A wonderful restaurant. Excellent menu choices superbly prepared. If we lived in NY, we would go frequently. We're an older couple who relish a quiet cozy spot with great food and personal attention. And all at reasonable prices. Highly recommend!

Were a group of 5 for our son's 26th birthday. We are a family that loves to find neighborhood gems and this one turned out around the corner from his girlfriends apartment. Appetizers were spot on, and entrees were very authentic.. Looking forward to returning there soon.

Le Gigot lives up to its accolades and very few disagree. Know that the restaurant is cozy, which we value. The menu has something for everyone and there are always a few off-the-menu specials. this time we began our dinner with one: tomatoes with olive oil/balsamic vinegar, basil and a choice of goat or blue cheese sprinkled lightly over all: delicious. Both of our entrees were also delicious as was the shared tarte tatin which we were really too full to order--but couldn't resist--fortunately! Expect a warm welcome and excellent service (always).

Casual French bistro with solid cooking and attentive service. Country pate was slightly bland but dijon mustard gave the flavor a boost. Onglet [hangar steak] was flavorful and chewy, as it is supposed to be. Flageolets and good bread rounded out the picture. Brioche bread pudding is a stand-out dessert. Service was there when needed. Decor is redolent of Parisian bistrot. Worth taking advantage of this notable casual restaurant on Corneliia Street.

On a weeknight this spot was a pleasure. Small but comfortable. No blaring music, no bar scene. Just a neighborhood bistro with exactly the menu you would anticipate. Dishes were well prepared; portions generous; no fireworks.
Service was thoughtful and accommodating, if slightly scattered as the hours passed.

Exactly what anyone seeking a good tiny French restaurant in the Village would want. The space is charming, the food delicious, the service good. Of course, if a place is small and popular and the patrons are having a good time, it is likely the "buzz" will get pretty loud. Such is the case here, and we visited on a Thursday. We'll gladly return when we want to join with friends and have lively conversations.

The restaurant is lovely with good and friendly service. This was my 2nd time there and unfortunately, I didn't like it as much for a full dinner as a 'small bite'. The food is good but not great and the menu is limited. Crab cakes are delicious but expensive.

The food and service are excellent but this is a small place and tables are very very close together. If one is seated next to a group who talk very loudly and laugh explosively, it is impossible to enjoy one's meal.

I had read great reviews so was looking forward to a laid back kind of evening with simple french comfort food. Our server was amazing... bread, wine and cheese plate very yummy. We split some delicious Cape Cod Oysters and my friend ordered the Duck Confit, which he said was very good, and I ordered the lamb 3 ways (chop, leg and tenderloin). The tenderloin was delish, the chops a little tough and the leg I did not really care for. We ended with an amazing creme brulee accompanied by a very good "on the house" Sauterne.

This was the second time that we ate in Le Gigot. We like it because the food is superb, the service is friendly and professional, and the restaurant itself is cozy and quiet. (It does not seat more than about 25 to 30 people including the bar.) We started our meal with escargot and their house-made crab-cake and followed with the bouillabaisse, which we had before, and the duck confit. The crab-cake was almost entirely crab meat, the escargot not too heavy on the garlic. The bouillabaisse has lots of fresh seafood and a tasty, subtle broth., and the duck was crisp on the outside and very moist. It ranks among our favorite eating spots in New York.

Although I and my student, who I was treating to lunch after she had been away from New York for most of the year, enjoyed our meal, I definitely won't be going back to Le Gigot for lunch anymore, and I will only recommend it for lunch to friends with deep pockets. The ambiance is lovely and the food is quite good, but the prices are unreasonable, even by NYC standards. For lunch we shared a half dozen oysters (3 apiece), then my student had the seafood salad and I had the arctic char with steamed vegetables. My fish was cooked perfectly but the piece was small and the vegetables were the most ordinary summer veggies with nothing on them--there's only so much taste you can get out of even the freshest summer squash. We each had one glass of wine, some sparkling water, an espresso, and shared a piece of tarte tatin for dessert. The bill, with tax and tip (for LUNCH), came to $168. I know rents are really skyrocketing on Cornelia Street, but those kinds of prices for lunch (a rather standard dessert was $12) are not sustainable in a very good but not spectacular restaurant. On top of that, they still only accept cash or Amex even though there's no sign that the "savings" are being passed on to the customers. It might still be a good place for dinner, when one expects those kinds of prices, but never again for lunch.

Le Gigot remains one of the classic small French bistros in the Village, and has been around for twenty years. The food is always delicious, and a recent meal featuring the signature "Lamb Fest" presented some of the best lamb I have had in years - perfectly cooked medium rare. The wine list is limited and expensive, but a pleasant Muscadet and a Cote du Rhone - both by the glass - were generously poured and fairly priced. Service was excellent, as always, and the Cornelia St. location is quiet and transporting. Highly recommended.

Amazing meal tonight. Daniel, our server, really added to our enjoyment of the meal. I had the duck confit, and it was the best I've ever had in the USA (it's only rival being The Roadford House in Doolin, Ireland). Spectacular!
