Le Garrick - Covent Garden

Sadly the day every one stopped going to restaurants, we self isolated by being the only people in the whole restaurant.
Our host was wonderful
I do hope they survive.
It's a nice place, not too expensive, but I always seem to get a bad table, in the corridor. Not sure what I'm doing wrong! The boeuf bourguignon was delicious.
Le Garrick was very underwhelming. My meal, confit de canard and haricots verts, was served on a cold plate and the beans were lukewarm at best. The confit was very small though tasty enough. Very little ambiance as so quiet but still had to go and ask to have our order take. It was supposed to be a special treat for a friend's birthday but it didn't feel special at all.
Nice location and nice bistro ambience. It was quiet when we went in for pre-theatre dining at 5pm but by the time we left at 6.45pm it was full - on a Tuesday evening too which gives an indication of its popularity. The service was prompt and pleasant and the food tasty although I did have almost as many empty mussel shells in my moules than ones with small mussels in! My only negative was that the wooden tables were rather sticky and the toilet facilities rather cramped.
Probably one of the meals I have had .
This place was recommended by someone who had been going for the last 20 years so I had high hopes and even they were exceeded.
On arrival we were greeted by the host who brought us to our table with a smile . Within a couple of minutes we were offered water while waiting . The waiter then came back and we asked for his recommendations, he suggested a few dishes of different variations of which we chose ours..
We went with the escargot and the calmari dish ( the waiter explained the calmari was not cooked in batter but in a sauce. We then chose the mussels for main . All 3 of these dishes were absolutely beautiful and left us wanting more.
We finished the meal with a chocolate fondant which i can only describe as chocolate silk.
Overall the experience was amazing and I would recommend it to anyone.
I absolutely love coming here. The food is always wonderful and the staff are so kind and attentive. The tables are tucked away in little nooks that remind me of dining in a wine cellar, its really neat!
Lovely atmosphere, great service, food was good. Great place to go before the theatre
Nice French brasserie food. Foie gras was excellent but small portion. Goat cheese salad was very nice. Cassoulet and bouef Bourgogne were both very authentic and excellent. Nice wine list that accentuates the French menu. I would go back to try the other dishes--onion soup, steak/frites, moules. If you want an inexpensive and authentic French dinner go here.
Great service and friendly plus good food all makes for a lovely meal
Always enjoy our visits
Very nice French restaurant in near to theatres and Covent Garden. Very friendly staff.
like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes.
Loved our pre-theatre dinner here on Monday night. I had the goats cheese salad to start and thought the few fresh beets a nice extra touch. I found the cheese itself a bit acidic but perhaps that is a price point issue. The standout was the Poulet Basquaise which was a special - delicious!!! I think I would have licked the plate if I could have, a total winner the meat just fell off the bone and the pepper/tomato sauce was beautifully seasoned. The atmosphere and friendly service make for a lovely setting. We will be back!
It was a lovely restaurant but the wine on the set menu wasn’t great and the medium-rare steak was very definitely undercooked.
The service and food are always 1st class here. 10/10
Lovely meal as ever. We introduced our friends to it, they were very impressed and said they would come again.
perfect in every way, staff are outstanding, our favourite in London
We have eaten here several times when we are in London, primarily going to an event at the Royal Opera House. Service is excellent, and we can count on getting to our seats in plenty of time. The food is good, not great, but tasty. I had the market fish with an olive sauce. The plaice was fresh, but the sauce, an olive tapenade, overwhelmed the fish. New potatoes were a bit cool, but tasty.
Excellent welcoming staff - always charming. Wonderful food always beautifully served.
Went here a few years back and had a super time so thought we’d come for a birthday celebration after a theatre trip.
Food was terrible - cold, flung on to the plate without any care for presentation. Wetherspoon’s food is superior and far better value! Is basically catering to clueless tourists.
Service was also incredibly slow.
Such a shame as the restaurant itself is cosy and full of atmosphere.
Un trés bon resto vraiment comme un bistro authentique français. Le boeuf bourguignon était délicieux. Je vous recommande.
Great atmosphere and food and very attentive service. Will definitely be back
Reliable and friendly bistro in the heart of theatre-land. You can expect good food and speedy service.
Very poor service. Average food. Unappealing atmosphere.
A great place in central London for a pre-theatre meal. Very reliable and very quick service - just what you want when you are trying to get out again quickly. Steak Frites was delicious as was the lemon tart.
Really lovely atmosphere in a great location! Onion soup was great.
Fabulous little place, never fails to deliver. So lovely to have a menu where you dont have to ask what the crazy things are, this is a true menu for the customer, not the chef's ego. Very reasonable prices especially when it is so good, service delightful (although my ice cream had possibly stood a bit too long before service, but I love this place so much I will forgive them that, and the taste outweighed any slight discrepancy in texture). Cannot wait to go again.
The quality of the food on my visit was not quite the standard I recalled from the visit some years ago. I was surprised the lemon chicken was served with the volume of very oily frites that it was.
That said, the staff were friendly, the selection of wines acceptable and the dessert was also good.
It was the evening of St. Valentine’s Day and the restaurant was packed. Nevertheless, we were seated immediately and the service, as too was the food and wine, very good. We had a most enjoyable evening.
I go all the time and have yet to have a bad experience. I recommend it all the time
Le Garrick has excellent ambience, buzz, and great and engaging stuff. Love their hearty dishes, their wine selection, and the half-litre carafe concept. The perfect place for a two-course meal. Deserts is an area where they can improve.
We have been to Le Garrick a few times a year for ages. It’s terrific and great value. The quality of food, drinks and service has remained consistently high throughout. Great atmosphere too. Ideally situated for a pre theatre meal.
Wonderful food and dessert at a very reasonable price.
Amazing food as usual, I've been coming here for over 20 years and never is it stade, always fresh and delicious!
