Le Garrick - Covent Garden
Not a great start because only one starter was brought out (and it was a trifle cold) the wine had also not arrived. I sent the cold starter back and requested that a fresh one be brought along with the missing starter and the wine. Duly done with profuse apologies. Starters were good as were the main courses. We shared a dessert which was OK but nothing special, tarte au citron. I'm aware that the place was full and that we had a new waitress but I would still expect better service from the start. It won't stop us going again because it's a good, reasonably priced little bistro very close to Leicester Square tube so really very convenient.
Great for pre-theatre.
We normally go to one of the Italian chains of restaurants so this was a lovely change
We did main course and desserts from the pre Theatre menu comma however we had a fondue as a starter which made the meal very special
A real treat quite expensive but worth every penny
Steaks were ok, limited choice though.
The burger was undercooked so sent it back.
What came back from the kitchen was even more undercooked. So I left the restaurant hungry. Desserts were good quality but a little overpriced. Beers were expensive. Underwhelming all round. No apology from the manager for the burger which would have made up for it. The staff just hid as I left... and considering I’d settled the bill for x8 people (~£250) that was a bit weak. While serving they were friendly though.
Great, as always
Attentive staff, knowledgeable without being obtrusive
Excellent food and perfect ambiance! The service could be improved.
Very friendly place. Good food and nice staff. Recommended
We had a delicious meal, with great service, and a very French ambiance. I would definitely recommend, and hope to go again!
Probably the best pre/post-theatre value in London.
Thoroughly enjoyed this very pleasant restaurant, staff were warm and inviting and service was really good.
Great food and atmosphere the service was excellent
Me and my mum had the best meal here at the weekend. The food was delicious! My mum had the fish of the day and commented on how fresh it was. The waiters are just wonderful and really made us feel welcome. Could not fault it and we will definitely be back in the future.
Le Garrick is a long time favourite of ours and never disappoints. Post EU Referendum there has been a noticeable turnover of staff but the level of service has not deteriorated. On this occasion, the highlight of our meal was the special main "Blanquette de Veau", slow-cooked veal served in a creamy sauce. I normally don't go for creamy sauces but this was enjoyable. We didn't take a dessert, which seem a little over-priced, but enjoyed our change of red wine.
Always a great time
We booked Le Garrick for lunch as part of my Birthday trip to London. We sat upstairs, which we felt was best for lunch, with downstairs, we thought, providing a more intimate evening venue in this very typically French restaurant. We were made welcome by the very friendly staff and there was a homely, intimate and relaxed atmosphere where we easily struck up conversations with other diners and the staff. The food was excellent, well cooked and served promptly, and, although we had not told the staff it was my birthday beforehand, it came out in conversation and I was presented with a candle with my desert, a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ and a free drink.
This was our first visit and we will definitely visit Le Garrick again. I would recommend it without hesitation.
Had a very enjoyable dining experience at Le Garrick - it was a belated birthday dinner and the manager and staff made a huge fuss of me with candles on my dessert. They sang Happy Birthday in French which was a first for me. Plus we got free 'La Poire' after dinner drink. I would certainly recommend Le Garrick to anyone wanting great French food and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Such great service, with lots of smiles. Loved sitting downstairs for nice ambiance. I will definitely dine here again.
The food was great but the potion was small. The service was good.
It was a great experience. Will definitely come back. Our waiter was so good and made an experience more welcoming and comfortable. Thank you :)
Third visit to Le Garrick and the usual great food and great service!
I returned to Le Garrick after a number of years and found the food and wine were of pretty mediocre quality; I may not have noticed previously but I did this time. It's still an atmospheric place but I'm not sure that I will go back given there are so many good restaurants in the area.
Really friendly staff, food was delicious and good value for money. Would definitely come here again for either a pre show dinner or in general.
The place needs redecorating, it is very
worn out tatty and dingy.
Amazing food and incredibly reasonably priced. Great affordable wine and every walk of life dining in the restaurant! Can’t wait to go back and make it a regular spot for meeting up with friends
Very good value for money. Nice wine, good steak, and an outstanding creme brûlée. One of the top picks in the Covent Garden area.
Wonderful staff, cosy interiors, delicious food: what else could you want? A little piece of France in central London where every visit is special.
Better than expected. Great food and value for such a central location. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Excellent service, delicious food, going back in few weeks time with British friends!
Cosy and quirky. Service was excellent. All the people l was with were very impressed. Food delicious. All staff greeted us and were there immediately, when we needed attention. Would definitely go again.
Great value pre theatre meal.
Could not fault service or food .
Restaurant was recommended and the atmosphere in particular appealed. We did the pre-theatre menu, and while the first course arrived promptly, the mains took an hour to arrive. The bill then contained extra drinks that we didn't order and this took additional time to sort out. As a result we were late to the theatre and missed the first part of the show. The food was okay, but it did not make up for this terrible service.
A super little restaurant, great atmosphere great food , excellent
Great ambiance, cosy and authentic. I had the boeuf bourguignon, very good. The only thing they could have done is go a bit easier on the salt. Pleasant and engaged waiting staff. Would definitely recommend and return.
My favourite when visiting London. Never fails to impress! Fabulous food, wonderful staff, and unbelievably reasonable.
Nice French style bistro in great location. The staff and service were excellent, but the food was really only average. Not expensive for the Covent Garden area and I would not hesitate to revisit, just hope they up the food quality.
Lovely atmosphere and really good food!
My husband and I went for a date dinner and we really enjoy it! We will definitely come back
The ambience in this restaurant is fantastic. Not too loud or too dark! not too many people crammed in. The menu is good for all courses and the taste of the food is very good. Staff are very friendly. I would definitely recommend.
Starters were good, but the mains really let us down. Especially the salmon was terrible. It tasted mostly of hot oil rather than salmon. The wine was very good. We had a table for two downstairs and it was a bit tight so people kept coming very close to us and the glasses on our table. When we wanted to pay it took about 30-40 min for the whole process which was somewhat frustrating as well.
Great food, great atmosphere, stunning staff. Can’t wait to go back
A really lovely restaurant that does the best French Onion soup, but downstairs the noise level of people chatting is very loud, with music on top it becomes a bit uncomfortable. Not sure how to get round this, but it would make me think twice about coming back. Other than that, food is great and service is very attentive.
