Le Fou Frog Ratings and Reviews
We were celebrating our first official anniversary, and we could not pick a better place! The atmosphere, the crew, the food - everything was so fantastic! It's no place to bring your vegan friend, but they have some of the best French food we know of. Quaint and unsuspecting from the outside, inside you're welcomed into a friendly place with character, and a staff to match. The food is filling, with a standing as well as daily updated menu. I highly recommend the escargot to start, I have yet to find an entree that wasn't superb, and the deserts can meet all pallets. This was just our visit this time, but they also have an unbelievable happy hour! I cannot praise Le Fou enough, and looking forward to our next visit!
Excellent dinner with my lovely wife. The ambiance was cool, like being back in Europe (kind of a hole in the wall feel). The service was incredible, authentic, and timely. The food was outstanding! Compared to other nice dining venues that serve small portions, Le Fou served hearty portions and we left with excellent leftovers. This will likely be one of our go-to venues for evenings out without the kids. Well done Le Fou Frog.
Le Fou Frog is the cozy French Restaurant that has it all. If you want steaks - the steak au poive is excellent, or better yet try the Le Fou filet. Seafood - it's always unique. The menu always changes but you can count on this - it's a fun place with good wine, great food, and great service. By the way, don't be afraid to ask the servers a question about the menu. They are there to help. Our waiter said, "Relax, we're in no hurry, it's French".
We have dined there often and have always enjoyed the experience. This week was good but we had one minor issue. The Dover sole was excellent but by the time that the table side presentation was completed, the fish had cooled too much to enjoy halfway through dining. Not hot when it left kitchen? Cool plate?
Of course, we'll be back.
Great atmosphere and service. Attentive waiters willing to take basic order and customize it to a reasonable extent. Very close tables so makes confidential discussions a bit difficult but workable. Nice wine selection and excellent desserts. Chef's surprises are delightful.
Le Fou Frog is phenomenal. Warm and inviting. A fabulous menu, with their year-round menu, and a supplemental one on a small chalkboard of local and in-season foods that they leave at your table. It is not inexpensive. But it is a memorable meal, unrushed, in a space that is moderately noisy at peak times, but with enough walls and soft surfaces that a good table conversation can be held.
The restaurant came highly recommended. The Escargot was one of the best. The choice of wines by the glass was extensive and reasonable. For the price $$$ The entrees were ok...lamb shank and another lamb dish. The service was wonderful. I would try the fish on another visit.
As a 1st time customer, this was a lovely experience. The restaurant is smaller than I initially thought, but that did not really matter. Saturday night looks like it gets busy, as our server took a little while to get our order started after she initially introduced herself. The food was absolutely marvelous, and went really well with the bottle of wine we got. Overall, I would highly recommend trying Le Fou Frog. While the service could definitely improve, the food is by far some of the best we've had in KC. Will be back soon for round 2.
Incredible. As always, Le Fou Frog did not disappoint. Our waitress was wonderful. She made the celebration and evening that much better. The food was delicious. Do yourself a favor, get a reservation, plan for a couple hours, and sit back to enjoy every single bite.
Went for my mother's 79th birthday. She wanted French and lives in NKC, so I thought Le Fou Frog would be perfect. Made a reservation through Open Table. The day before, they confirmed with us. Good experience there. The restaurant is very cozy and feels vibrant on a weekend. It's a bit loud, but the energy is amazing. Everyone is there to have a good time. Our server, Jean-Pierre was truly outstanding. He made excellent recommendations on food and wine, brought out complimentary pate and spoke Spanish to my Spanish-speaking mom (at a French restaurant)! He made our experience so much more fun, and his food recommendations were delicious. The cuisine is French and everything was prepared to perfection. We got appetizers, entrees and desserts and all of us cleaned our plates. We left feeling full and very happy. All in all, everything you could wish from a night out.
Prices are a bit on the high side, but in this case, you really get what you pay for. It's worth the investment in delicious food and a wonderful experience.
A wonderful restaurant. Amazing French dishes that reminded me of my time in France. The foil gras was heaven sent and the chef adding a taste of Sauterne could not have been better. Very good service even on a busy Saturday night. We were there for a special occasion and there were personalized notes welcoming us to restaurant and wishing us well. It’s a small thing but much appreciated. Will definitely go back.
I used to frequent Le Fou Frog many years ago. I have not been back for a number of years. Maybe that is why I was disappointed! But it did not live up to my memory. It was just so average. The sides were over cooked and my all time favorite, Lobster Bisque was bland!! It was a very special occasion and I was really underwhelmed across the board 😕
