Le Fou Frog Ratings and Reviews
The food and presentation are always good at Le Fou Frog. The lobster bisque was delicious. We were disappointed in the quantities, however. It was restaurant week, but we felt they were skimpy to perhaps reflect the fixed price? Never had that happen before. Not sure, but not a good way to promote the restaurant.
Adorable restaurant with romantic atmosphere. We've wanted to try the food for some time given the positive feedback we've heard, and it was spot on. Food and customer service is fantastic. Best escargot we've ever had, cocktails are great, and all dishes tried for restaurant week were cooked to perfection. We'll definitely dine again.
THE " Crazy Chef's" wife seated us and was so gracious and down to earth. She highly rec'd HH!
Amaxing Amuse Bouche, mussel w?.. Entree was scallop on delish gratin topped w Wagyu beef. Divine! My salad w sliced apple & duck was Perfect! Chocolate Mousse from Heaven! Panna Cotta also perfect & they brought chocolate truffles to us! Bartender made great bourbon drink.
This was our first time visiting after hearing many good reviews from friends and the experience lived up to reviews!
The food was excellent, with a more laid back atmosphere than anticipated. The restaurant was full/busy during KC Restaurant Week but the waiter and other staff was still attentive and knowledgeable when we asked questions.
As a young couple, we generally eat at home but go out for special occasions. The best review that I can leave is the guarantee that we will return very soon!
My son and I always enjoy Le Fou Frog and enjoy bringing new people with us. I brought a couple that had not been there before and as expected they enjoyed it immensley. We started going there for special occasions about 20 some odd years ago and it never disappoints. The waitress was especially good this time.
The food here is exceptional. We went during restaurant week, so don't know if the portion size is any different. The staff was very helpful and accommodating, attentive but not intrusive. The regular menu is rather pricey, however, but once in a while, worth it. Probably wouldn't go before theater since it is more fun to savor the moments. We do love French food!
The food here is of excellent quality. The service was wonderful, timely, and the food was perfect. My only negative is that in typical French fashion the portions are much smaller than what is typically found in America, yet the prices are on par with those found at high end steakhouses for quality steak and sides.
For those with money to burn and in search of unique offerings, Le Fou Frog delivers. If you want leftovers to take home you might want to keep searching elsewhere.
Had a reservation but had to wait 30 minutes for a table. The restaurant was more crowded then we anticipated and it made it very noisy. The restaurant was very dark which would have been perfect if you wanted to have a romantic candlelit dinner but it wasn't great for an evening out with friends. The poor lighting made it difficult to actually see our food and appreciate the amount of work that went into making it.
It was a nice experience to try but we won't be going back.
I was there on a special New Year’s Eve date. It had been several years since I had dined at Le Fou Frog. I was so delighted to see that it was still as charming as ever with exquisite food and service. Even on a popular and busy night such as New Years they made us feel so special! I hope to be back soon and more often and will be suggesting it to friends and family!
We had friends in town for New Years Eve and decided to try out Le Fou Frog. It exceeded our expectations with food and service. The cozy ambiance was perfect for a special occasion and talking with great friends. Our server, Jill, made excellent food and wine recommendations. We will certainly be back again.
This is our 'go to' spot for New Year's and Valentine's, as well as other occasions. Food and service are always great, even during special occasions.
The Filet Le Fou and twin lobster tails in champagne sauce are my favorites, as is the lobster bisque, but I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu. The Mousse au Chocolate and Creme Brulee are always great too.
Great Food. Was very busy and reservations are recommended. Quirky atmosphere but charming for what it is. Very unpretentious for the cost and quality of the food. The wine list has good options from value to high end. We went for our anniversary and it was a little loud/rowdy for this occasion but the food is amazing. We will go again but maybe not for when we want a quiet and romantic evening out. Would be a great place to go with another couple or friends and order several dishes to share. The quality is incredible and I wish we could have tried more items on the menu. The portion sizes are a lot more generous than I would have expected for the quality and type of food. For my wife's first experience with authentic French food it was tremendous. I will get her to try the Escargot next time I am confident that the quality will be there so that she will have a good experience. The Service could have been better but it was very busy so I try to be a little more forgiving in that situation. It didn't seem like neglect it really seemed like too much going on. For the price and quality I would have expected the wait staff to have fewer tables so the could focus more on the patrons. It was a weeknight and it is possible that it was busier than they expected. Overall it was a good experience but I wouldn't recommend it for a romantic evening out as I don't think that is really their forte. Next time we will go with friends and not worry about the atmosphere. Hopefully this doesn't sound negative because I can't say enough about the food part of this experience.
