Had a wonderful meal and the service was great! Very helpful waitress on suggestions and excellent wine pairings. Was a lovely atmosphere for a 1 year anniversary.
Great food and excellent service. Seated promptly. Fine French dining edtablisy
Le Fou Frog is an unpretentious, outstanding French restaurant in the oldest part of Kansas City. Service is friendly yet professional, the décor is romantic, and the food is amazing. It's not only for special occasions, either, as prices are reasonable considering the quality of the food and service.
We had a fantastic experience. I am a vegetarian, and the chef created an entree for me that was amazing. I will definitely be requesting it in the future.
Absolutely always love Le Fou Frog. One of my two favorite restaurants in Kansas City!
My favorite restaurant in Kansas City. They never disappoint!
Generally good food , but because lobster tails were very tough we down rated it.
Best food and ambiance combination in Kansas City. Great drinks and service too.
This place is an absolute gem. It never disappoints. It is on the pricy side, to be sure...but it is so special, and so delicious, you won't regret your decision to dine there for a moment.
Wonderful meal with excellent service.
Wonderful multicourse meal. Really enjoyed ourselves. Wood go back in a heartbeat.
Food was great, the service so-so. That's not what I expected or experienced before at Le Fou Frog
We informed the restaurant that one of our guest was allergic to seafood a week before our dinner reservation. But the chef failed to offer a pre-dinner tasting for that person. We were surprised since usually the restaurant/chef offered a vegetarian/seafood-free offering during previous visits. Also when we first sat down, the table had a note that said something such as in appreciation of our visit, dessert was on the house. But as we were waiting for our entree, the server came over and took the note. She said it was a mistake and meant for another table. I was surprised and thought it was rude even if the note had been meant for someone else. My entree alone was $62 so it wasn't like we were scrimping at dinner. Not so sure I will select Le Fou Frog the next time I'm in KC. There are other great restaurants in the area so I will likely try a few of them out before I return here.
We were a group of 6 long time friends in town for a convention of former TWA flight attendants. We were told by everyone we asked that Le Fou Frog was a must for one of our dinners and we were not disappointed. The mussels, frog legs, coquille st jacques and halibut were all perfection, and a waiter serenaded the room with One Enchanted Evening! When our taxi didn't come and we were stranded, an employee named Michelle got her own car out of the parking lot and drove us back to our hotel.....who does that? Unbelievable! Delicious food, wonderful ambiance, wonderful people.....GO!
First time visit. A little pricey but excellent food. Will definitely return.
The servers were great and helpful with explaining the menu items. They were aware that we wanted to take our time and enjoy our evening. Our food choices were delicious - we really enjoyed the dessert! (of course) Looking forward to another visit to the restaurant!!
Eating here is always a magical experience. The service, food and ambiance are all amazing.
Excellent Food and Atmosphere. Great attentive service. Highly recommend.
Food and service never disappoint!!! Awesome dining for any occasion!!!!
Our go-to restaurant for special occasions. Pricey and worth every penny.
The food is always excellent - Fadmir does some amazing, creative and delicious creations.
Kathleen is our new favorite server. Very helpful, knowledgeable and professional - her recommendations were spot-on. The Frog continues to be awesome in every way.
Dinner at the Fou Frog is always a treat. Excellent French food in a comfortable setting.
Great food. Just an overall fun time. Service was outstanding. PLUS. Singing server adds that extra something that sets this restaurant apart from others
Service and food were amazing as usual! Atmosphere is lively on the weekends and the impromptu song or two by the waitstaff add to the experience.
Excellent food, exemplary service. We enjoyed everything, from the casual Tmosphere to the meticulously prepared and presented food.
We loved our dining experience at Le Fou Frog. It was our anniversary and they treated us like royalty. Our waiter was knowledgeable and knew what the best food and wine were on the menu.
Our waiter John Pierre was more than happy to speak French with my 15 year old. She had the best duck she’d ever had and I had kangaroo loin for the first time. We will return.
The best French Restaurant in Town bar NONE! The food and service were amazing!!!
Barb and Mano and their staff are wonderful. We love it every diner is special. I love the patio makes me fell like I am in the South of France. Also love the fact I can bring my 4 legged friend to enjoy the patio.
Fun atmosphere, delicious food!
This place is a KC favorite. Never disappoints. Perfect steak, impeccable service, fun atmosphere, and chill vibes. No other place like it in town.
After hearing how great this place was for years, I booked it for my Husband's birthday. I was a bit surprised that the actual menu was different than the one online. They did present a ton of "specials" on a chalk board - very difficult to read - that offered a wide variety. Our waiter was very knowledgeable. Service was a good pace, so we didn't feel rushed but allowed time to relax between courses.
The interior is a bit funky but actually refreshing. Our biggest disappointment was the food itself. I had a duck special. While the taste was pleasant, the meat was tough. The accompanying vegetables were good as was my warm goat cheese salad. My husband's steak came with french fries that we were assured would be crispy. They looked crispy but were very soggy and inedible. The steak was a sizable portion and tender but nothing to write home about.
Even though I had put on the reservation that this was a birthday dinner, there was no acknowledgement of it being a special occasion.
Overall, I expected so much more and with other French restaurants in town there really isn't any need to return here.
We have made Le Fou Frog our tradition for several yearly events, and we love all the food and all the people!
Great service. Amazing ambiance. Very cool interior. The food, however, was average at best. We had a variety of items...lamb shank, scallops, appetizers and a couple other smaller items. None of them were good tasting. So, overall the place is a delight, except for the food; which is really important in a restaurant! I’d recommend the place for a drink or appetizer in the bar, but not a great place for dinner.
We really enjoyed our evening at Le Fou Frog! Delicious escargots, great service, and a surprise solo by a waiter.
A random Wednesday meal was highly elevated by the ambient tone of the restaurant. The service was wonderful and the food was better, you’ll be doing yourself a disservice if you do not order the escargot, easily the best I’ve had. Enjoy some bubbles outside on a cooler evening and you won’t regret one of the better meals you can have in Kansas City.
Loved the large menu, good choices and nice wine list. Wish you were more mid town, I am in Olathe and it was a long drive, especially after dinner. Worth for special occasions.
This was a first visit to Le Fou Frog. We had 4 courses. First the mussels Marseillaise, which was nice except for the "toast" which was hard and tasteless and covered in powdery Parmesan cheese, which did more to detract than enhance; we also had a charcuterie platter, which was good. The second course was mozzarella with heirloom tomatoes and basil and was pretty good. The third course was the entree; peppercorn steak--very badly cooked (we asked for medium and it was very well done) and monkfish Wellington--also badly overcooked to the point where the texture of the monkfish had fairly disappeared. The fourth course was dessert: Tart Tartin, and quite good.
Service was unexceptional. Our server kept apologizing that she hadn't done x, y, or z whenever she came by. Plates were "plopped" down on the table with no attempt at explanation (e.g., especially for the charcuterie platter, which really did need some explanation--we finally caught our server who quickly ran through the meats and then also quickly ran off--to do what, we weren't sure because it was late and there were only two occupied tables).
In general, the food was good except for the main dishes, which were truly awful. Coupled with the poor service and the prices, I would not recommend this restaurant.
The best French food in town...with great atmosphere and service
Wonderful service, exceptional seasonal menu, and great cocktails!
The food is always on point. The drinks are superb. On Saturdays you can usually catch a small performance by a waitress or hostess. Beautiful voices! A must for any date.
