We will give LeFat another try, not on Valentine's weekend. The atmosphere was beautiful although the rooms were literally packed with diners and a few bustling servers/food runner. We had a reservation but waited 20min to be seated. We then waited another 10min to have a server take our drink order. And then another 40min before our food was brought to the table. While waiting, the couple next to us threatened to leave due to the slow service (the manager compensated them generously) and the server spilled a drink on the table next to us because there was so little room to move. My husband's meal was dry (pork belly bowl) while mine (the clay chicken pot) was delicious. They were obviously understaffed.
Food was tasty, and it was a nice space that wasn’t too noisy. However, service was poor. Despite having a reservation, we waited 35 minutes for a table. The bar was so slow that they never got us a drink while we were waiting. The only reason we were able to be seated was because we agreed to squeeze 5 adults around a table for 4.
It took 15 minutes to be greeted and place drink orders, and it was another 15 before they arrived and were missing some people’s orders. We ordered appetizers, and they took 20 minutes to arrive. Two dishes were fine, but the mussels were destroyed with stringy pieces clinging to the shell but no actual mussel. We said that we’d like another order and returned the defective one, but they said the mussels “weren’t coming out well” that night. Finally, they brought one of us lump crab noodles for dinner with no crab. They remedied this by bringing over a bowl of crab and dumping it in the noodles.
It’s a shame because they have potential. But it’s not being executed well.
Beautiful restaurant with Vietnamese food that is carefully though through.
We love Le Fat! Food always excellent. They were a busier than usual this night so we had to wait a while, but otherwise a fantastic meal as usual. We will be back!
Friendly staff and delicious food.
Setup a reservation for Valentines Day 2 weeks in advance. Good Parking. Great Atmosphere. Really good food. When I got to the retaurant we had to wait 10-15 minutes for a table to open up. Why? I had a reservation and we were on time. Other then that the food and service were good and I would recommend.
Many reviews have already pointed out issues with food consistency and overall quality. We dined with a party of two and ordered seven dishes. They ranged from quite good (green papaya salad) to poor (spring rolls). Some reviewers pointed out the cocktails; we had two different ones and they were fine, but not really different from other local establishments. Service was extremely mixed, not only inconsistent, but also slow and far too lax. Overall, the restaurant suffers from a lack of identity. There is no standard of service, no standard of food quality, and no real grounding principles. Over time, perhaps things will come together. It is a great physical space and the prices are very reasonable. With the other options within a mile radius alone (we live several miles away), there would not really be a reason for us to come back. This is the kind of experience that I would expect in a small city rather than a large metro area.
I was really looking forward to visiting LeFat as I read wonderful reviews and recommendations.
I did come on a Tuesday, thus the quiet/sleepy atmosphere rating, but hoped that would help with a more intimate dining experience.
We ordered the spring rolls, clay pot chicken, and drunken noodles- based on the server's recommendations. All of these items tasted exactly like what I could order at a standard Chinese restaurant for a fraction of the cost. Not great, not bad, just ok. There were no outstanding flavor profiles, Vietnamese take or presentation to excite the diner.
We also each had a glass of wine, which had a very light/small pour compared to the normal standard.
I would have liked to have left with a feeling that I experienced Vietnamese food with an urban twist or chef's take, but I felt very lacklustre and slightly underwhelmed.
The food was delicious. Our sever was awesome and Eric, I'm assuming the General Manager, was so attentive. The Clay Pot Chicken is so yummy!
Not our first time eating here, but may be our last. Food has taken a downward turn (decent, but nothing great) and server ignored us for most of the night, to the point where we had to ask another staff member for drinks and our check when it came that time.
I try to make it once per month for the garlic crab noodles and the chicken clay pot. Super low key and intimate. And the drinks are awesome! Add Prosecco to the drink menu plllleeeeaaassse! Lol
We enjoyed our experience and the food was delicious. We loved the spicy green bean, mussels and calamari. We will definitely be back and send friends.
Talked this place up to my friend and planed a dinner for her and 3 others to join. Was so disappointed with the good some of my fav dishes like the escargot in Sriracha butter , (sounds good I know) but no longer on the menu. Then entrees were so below the quality I remember, glass noodles were basically a solid piece and the pork bowl was basically three measley pieces of pork belly with a ton or rice no sauce or anything, just dry. Needless to say I won’t be returning, I guess the change of management from Guy Wong really was what made this place sparkle. What was one of my favorite places in Atlanta, now just another average restaurant in ATL...
Side note the waitress was very kind and helpful but there was no saving this food.
Food was cold and dry. Service was late. We waited over 45 minutes for our food. The space is beautiful but way too loud.
The food was absolutely wonderful. The crowd was enthusiastic and having a great time. But the acoustics were such that crosstalk between tables, and the general din of the room were almost oppressive. Our server worked his tail off, but they were short staffed, so service was slow and mistakes were made. I know finding qualified folks can be a challenge, but hiring a couple more is what the owner needs to do.
I have eat at Le Fat several times and enjoyed the food and bar. This time was not good. Cocktail was terrible, sent back, second was worst. Soft shell crab Bao was excellent. The crispy rice with chicken had to much sodium. Service was excellent.
Food and service were amazing. And for those who are always in pursuit of an “instagrammable moment,” the restaurant design has the aesthetic for that, too.
Appetizers arrived before wine. Dishes we not well-paced. The Bahn mi toast was very underwhelming, basically sauteed button mushrooms on bread, no pickled vegetables or cilantro. We all enjoyed the papaya salad, chicken curry, and crab noodle.
didn’t get sat until 30 minutes after our reservation. it took the bartender 15 minutes to acknowledge us. he was busy but after 15 minutes of no service the first words out of his mouth were “they were here first”. while it’s understandable to serve guests based off when they arrive it’s not how you want to be greeted after you’ve been waiting 25 minutes after your reservation. once we were seated we thought our experience would be better but our server was very condescending and rude. we ordered dumplings and were told we must be patient because they take a while to steam. when i asked the server what some of his favorite dishes were he said it depended on what i like, not what he likes. after watching my beer sit at the bar for 10 minutes he walked by and asked if i needed something at which point he remembered my beer and blamed the bartender. when he finally picked it up and brought it to me i kindly pointed out that it wasn’t the bartender. he then got very upset and asked if i’d like to speak with the manager or get a new server. i said no that was ok but he still said he would get a new server. i have never been so disrespected by multiple employees dining out ever. the food was pretty good but not worth putting up with the service
Nice atmosphere but service was slow. Very good food but smaller portions than expected especially the way the server explained
Le Fat was a great mid week choice for a nice dinner out with my husband. We loved the vibe and the service was outstanding. Our favorite dish was the curry. Overall we would definitely come back.
Service was excellent and the food was outstanding.
The dinner was delicious . The men’s restroom was horribly filthy.
Awesome find! Elegantly decorated storefront in a new building with ample comp parking evokes colonial Viet Nam. Every dish on the carefully curated menu is a winner! Subtleties of flavors abound with bold tastes. Loved the Cafe du Monde cafe filtré!
Acknowledging we had a larger group, but we did not have a good experience. Appetizers were slow, some forgotten. The entire group was served entrees except for one person who did not receive their food until the rest of the group was finished. The night was extended when it took approximately 30 minutes to figure out the checks, after 3 or 4 revisions. Hopeful that this was just an off night for the team at Le Fat, but it will be a while before we try again.
A vietnamese place that is out of the hot pepper paste ?
Don't alter the best food in the world and make it bland
I liked Le Fat, that food tasted good and was prepared rather quickly. Our server was nice even though she seemed a little pre-occupied, being a little short with us at times. The ambiance was lovely, I would go back to try other dishes that seemed good to me as well. Pretty good place.
Food standards at LeFat have dropped since it first started, which is unfortunate as I used to like the place. But the more disturbing part was the service - the waiter was awkward and at times rude. Never going back.
Very good food and atmosphere. It very much reminded me of the cafes I used to eat at when I worked in Ho Chi Minh City.
Waiter was too causal for a nice restaurant. For a Saturday night in Atlanta it was not busy. The atmosphere was not right. The restaurant did not have music playing for the longest time and it was so quiet.
Second time and it was a bit of a disappointment. Bartender didn't seem to know his way around. Food was solid, but not great as my first meal was. Service was a bit slow ... not the fabulous time I was expecting after the awesome first visit I had.
Outstanding food and service. We had a large party and got to sample many delicious foods.
I've dined at Le Fat twice and the food is consistently delicious. Try the wonton dumplings and summer rolls as an appetizer. They are so fresh and delicious. The Bun Chilled Vermicelli Bowl is so fresh and flavorful. Try it with the wonton dumpling sauce. The service is spectacular. I'm looking forward to my next visit to Le Fat to try the chicken clay pot.
Amazing food! Great service! Ideal for a date or dinner night
Horrible service and it wasn’t crowded.
The shanking beef was plentiful and the cheesecake was delicious.
Food is not really viet. Very limited menu. Too bad the place is cool
The food was phenominal - exceeded expectations! I will definitely spread the word to friends and family!!
Great place. Will be back.
Service is on point and their dishes never disappoint. I was drawn in by the clay pot chicken which is a delicious feast. Discovering the lemongrass shrimp though has become a weekly craving!!
