Le Donne Cucina Italiana Ratings and Reviews
We were visiting Palm Desert for the holiday weekend and wanted a quick bite. The atmosphere was casual. I liken this restaurant to a “Maria’s kitchen” , but not as good of food. It was fine, the service was friendly, but I probably wouldn’t go back. If you don’t mind an older crowd and mediocre Italian food, then this is the place for you
This small Italian restaurant features homemade pasta that can compete with any Los Angeles or
New York neighborhood restaurant.
Pastas (and there are a lot of choices!) are out of this world. Service excellent And you can hear your groups entire conversation. Thank you for an amazing pre -Thanksgiving dinner. We’ll be back!
Lovely neighborhood spot with an enormous menu. Meal starts with delicious garlicky bruchetta. Eggplant parm was a little mushy. Great homemade pastas. Eggplant sausage and shrimp with truffle oil were delicious. Nice salads and minestrone soup was great. Good service. Indoor seating is a little crowded. Front room more stuffy than the back.
Food was very good! Complimentary piece of bruschetta that was delishious. Had an appetizer of scallops on garlic spinach, also very tasty. And for our entre we both had chicken piccata. Again really tasty. Not a bite left on the plate. Enjoyed it and will be going back.
The food , as always, was terrific! Very crowded and noisy, but well worth the price. They are closing soon and some menu items were not available. However, you can't beat the food anywhere in the valley. The Piccata was just sensational as was the chopped salad and caprice. All in all a great evening!!!
We had a coupon that needed to be used since the restaurant closes for the summer so we went on the day before the closing. My wife had one of the salads with shrimp & I had the wedge salad and the special, veal medallions in a cream & onion sauce. I had a small serving of fettuccine with marinara as the side.
We have eaten here 8-10 times & the special I had was the best dish I've had at Le Donne. I have eaten pasta in Italy but I have never had pasta as good as they make in this small, unassuming neighborhood trattoria. The combination of the succulent veal and the al dente pasta was a superior meal.
We are big fans of this place & will be back soon after they open in September.
We went on a Tuesday night to celebrate a special birthday, and the place was completely full. It was our first visit, and I selected the restaurant because of its outstanding reviews.
We started out on an unfortunate note. I ordered a split of champagne to mark the special occasion, but the server returned to say that the house was completely out of either sparkling wine that was on the menu.
Next, I think we ordered the wrong menu items. My friend selected penne pasta a la vodka with shrimp, and the sauce -- rather than being rich and tasty as it should be -- was thin and unimpressive. Even adding salt did not help.
I ordered the special for the evening, veal medallions in a cream sauce. The serving was generous, particularly with the pasta and spinach on the side. But again, the sauce was lackluster.
The highpoint of our visit was the service. Our server was attentive and very pleasant. And I must add that the prices were very fair.
Because of the many positive reviews from other diners, we may try Le Donne Cucina again. But we will not be rushing back.
We have been going here for years and never had bad service or a bad meal. Monday night was much different. The service was very slow. Had to ask more than three times for items to be brought to the table. The food took a long time to arrive at the table once we place the order. The food was mediocre with the pasta overdone. Reservations were at 6:30pm, did not leave until almost 9:00pm.
Hopefully this was a one time occurrence and will give it another chance.
