This was a mother and daughters day brunch, the food was absolutely delicious, service was excellent. We will definitely be back 😊
We went to Le Diplomate for an anniversary because a friend recommended it. It was amazing! The cocktails were delicious and the food was great! We had the romarin and espresso martini to start for drinks. Yum! For food we ordered the assorted oysters, the sea bass and lobster frites for our entrees. The service was great as well- he was attentive, quick, and gave us time to enjoy our night not being pushy with ordering. Definitely would return.
Wonderful experience as always.
Fantastic place, excellent service, and delicious menu items. Highly recommend the warm shrimp salad and the creme brulee. Sat outside on the "patio," would like to return and enjoy the interior space as well. Enjoyed the late-night option (our reservation started at 10:30 pm).
The Le diplomate amazed as always! beautiful, tasty, friendly and caring! thanks!
While it’s a little expensive, the food is spactacular and never disappoints!!!!
It was good, but not as good as past times.
Awesome experience! Our server was wonderful and gave great wine recommendations. I wish I could remember his name, but he 100% made the experience!
Le Diplomate never disappoints! Our family of four ordered two shrimp cocktails to share. The shrimp were huge and delicious. For dinner we had the scallops, lobster frites and two of the steak frites. Everything was cooked to perfection, the scallops were tender, the lobster was huge and the steak tasted amazing. Service was impeccable and one of the many reasons this place is our go to when we want to venture out of Virginia and into DC.
Wonderful experience during this difficult time. Loved everything. Happy to be here. Great food loved the indoor but felt outdoor toom. Fabulous.
Well of course the noise was energetic. We were seated in 14th Street. But I wanted to eat at a restaurant and Le Diplomate is a good outdoor option.
Excellent time and amazing food. One of my favorite places in DC
This was a fun evening with a good friend, and great food. Many thanks.
I strayed from my usual order of Beef Bourguinon and tried the Trout Almandine. It was delicious and the perfect portion for me (to avoid leftovers) -- let's just say, it has been quite the week for birthday celebrations! We were seated in the sunny, tiled room (per my request; I've always wanted to sit in there. It was one of my friends' first time at Le Diplomate. Needless to say, he'll be back!
Covid careful! Very safe. Tables space appropriately
Food outstanding. Trout was cooked to perfection.
Loved marinated almond sauce.
Food was fantastic! I highly recommend the Escargot.
We found Le Diplomate 5 years ago by accident walking along the street. We decided to go back this year when we were visiting the area. Our good memories of our dinner were replicated. We were given an outdoor table, which is perfect for Covid. All of our meals were fabulous. The server was attentive, but not intrusive. My trout was perfect. My son LOVED his steak, and my husband devoured the mussels. I look forward to my next visit.
The restaurant was great. Can't think of what else to say
Ordered the oysters and clams for appetizers, they were fresh and delicious. For entree I had the salmon over lentils and it was perfect!
We sat at street tables which were all distanced appropriately. It was a warm October evening so no heaters needed but they had heaters set up. Atmosphere is still there even in a pandemic. Food was excellent as always and our server was great.
We had a fantastic time our server was a consummate professional, incredibly knowledgeable and a made us feel as if we were guests in his home.
Excellent in all aspects as usual- only issue is the outside dining space on 14th street is noisy but that is unavoidable given Covid restrictions.
This was my second night in a row dining at Le Diplomat and Adnan was my server. He was marvelously attentive without being obtrusive. It was a better experience overall than the night before in terms of attention to service details. Both nights the food was consistently delicious and well presented.
This was.a special birthday and the meal was special! Great food and service. Propane heaters kept things very warm.
We recommend this restaurant for all occasions!
More hype than anything. The food was bland. We ordered the crab cocktail, steak frites, ricotta ravioli and another beef entree and we were not impressed. We were so happy to have finally gotten a reservation but the food was nothing to ride home about. The best part was the basket of bread and butter. Will not go back.
We sat outside which was nice, unfortunately no heaters by us, but still a cool environment. The best was the warm shrimp salad, highly recommend. Great spot for people traveling through.
I always enjoyed dining in at LeDiplomate. However, due to COVID-19 my recent visit is quite not the same. I missed being able to go in by the bar and grabbing some drinks while waiting for the table or my friend. Yet, this visit it's not allowed. I got there a bit too early and had to wait outside in cold for a bit longer than usual. The food taste great and our server was lovely.
We really wanted to love this place but left disappointed. Expect chain restaurant quality food for Michelin star restaurant prices
Perfect table and Carlos was our waiter. Such fun!! As always food was fantastic
Great social distancing, we felt so safe AND the ambiance and food were amazing.
Fantastic as usual. Having family in town, we were able to enjoy a wonderful (socially distanced) meal. Was great to see the takeout bags piled up on the bar as well...well worth the visit if you can make it!
Food was a real disappointment. The ambiance was excellent, but service made us feel like mice in a cage
We asked for outdoor dining and we were seated on 14th street not the pretty patio. As someone who dined there frequently this was very disappointing. Then I was told to watch my bag as there was a lot of theft with tables off of 14th street. I think this is a good place for walk ins but not frequent diners and reservations.
Outdoor seating on a beautiful day - it felt so normal.
The food was outstanding as always- everything was delicious- from the drinks to the beef, onion soup, profiteroles, and cappuccino! Servers were all so good too. I have 3 complaints- 1- when I made the reservations, I said we were celebrating a birthday. We have had many family birthdays at Le Diplomat over the years and at each they either gave us a free glass of sparkling wine or a special dessert- and at least a candle in the dessert. Yesterday, they did nothing to acknowledge the birthday. 2: Their voicemail says that they are open from 1pm on week days rather than 12pm. So I was nervous that we would arrive for our 12pm reservation and they would not be open. I let them know about the message issue. Thirdly-they wanted to seat us in 2 bad locations at first- first on the very busy/loud road, but I have a hearing issue and do not want to pay for a $140 lunch while listening to loud traffic. Then they tried to put us at a table that was by a loud truck and a smelly driveway with garbage smells. There were plenty of nice tables, so I asked for a third time and we sat in a lovely space. They had said at first that those table were for larger parties, but there were 2 other tables with only 2 people, 2 tables with 3 people, and several empty tables. It was very strange. So- I love this restaurant, but there were issues before we finally got settled at our table with our super server.
My favorite neighborhood gem of a restaurant. Love everything About Le Dip and all of the people who work there. Great crew, beautiful setting, and delicious food.
Bar none, my favorite restaurant in the DC area! It has a great ambience, and the food is reliably delicious. We love the steak frites, the duck, French onion soup, and so many other menu items. We always enjoy the profiteroles for dessert. The bread is terrific, and have I mentioned the cocktails? All yum!
Sat on 14th Street, little breezy, otherwise all good
Great! Don’t remember the name of our server, but he was awesome! Great food, great night!
