What Insiders Are Saying
This French bistro is the place to see anyone who’s ever been on “Meet the Press". The food is also delicious.
Excellent in every single way.
Every course was great, we had steak and duck and both were cooked to perfection. Would recommend again.
Wonderful experience. The food, the service and the decor all were amazing. Only downside was the noise level in the main area. But quaint seating along windows quieted things and made for a phenomenal evening.
The food was okay - both dishes I ordered (escargot and lobster risotto) were a tad too salty, which was a shame. Wine at that price was just average. Overall, it certainly wasn't worth how much we paid for our food/drinks. I was disappointed given all the reviews I saw on yelp and other website.
Fab food, service, ambience. Took kids and they loved the menu and the place too. Seafood outstanding. Wine list excellent. Will return and will recommend.
Very French. Had the duck and the steak tartare, companion had the pate and veal. We split the warm shrimp salad. All the dishes were authentic and delicious. Definitely we ordered too much! The wine was reasonably priced, service was consistent.....it’s nice to have a manger drop by twice to check in. Will return.
Come for the food, not for conversation unless you are able eat outside. At 5:15 on a Tuesday the noise level is tolerable; by 6:30 conversation between two people at a small table becomes difficult. The food is totally consistently excellent. This time it was half dozen oysters and Steak Tartare du Parc for appetizers, Moroccan Braised Lamb and Skate Grenobloise, and finishing with a Palet Chocolat-Café, everything shared by two people. Plenty of food. Attentive, well-informed but not intrusive service; good cocktails, very good sommelier wine recommendation (that didn't go to the high end). A great dinner!
Mother’s Day dinner was a hit!
I had a fabulous Mother’s Day! Food was excellent and great service! Can’t wait to go back!
Amazing food with a beautiful atmosphere
Steak was surprisingly tough and not worth the price.
Great ambiance (like Paris in DC), great food. A bit pricey but worth it for special occasions.
Le Diplomate is always a favorite. Nick, the sommelier, was very helpful in selecting a good (and also reasonable!) bottle of wine.
Food was not as good as expected. No better than many French restaurants in the DMV area.
Hosts were very nice. The food and wine were excellent as usual. Had a nice window seat and waiter was pleasant. Actually the noise level was lower than it usually is which made conversation very easy. Had a very pleasant evening with great food.
Wonderful as always. Great service and beautiful interior. Food is delish - don’t skip a cheese plate!
Excellent food, drinks & service - Nabil was wonderful!
Great food and service. As authentic as it can get!
The food and service is always wonderful. A great place for a special occasion.
Went for my three year anniversary. Amazing food and service. Their wine selection is incredible. Food presentation, selection, and taste was A+. I had the roasted scallops and loved the layers of flavors that were developed in this savory, nutty dish. The atmosphere is like nothing other. Upscale but relaxing and casual.
10/10 would recommend!
Everything was great! The main course took a bit longer than we would have liked, but the assistant manager proactively acknowledged this and comped is a wonderful dessert.
Our food was excellent. Service was very good. Our only complaints were that the bread didn't seem fresh...french bread was very chewy and not warm as expected. Or maybe we just expected it to be better because of the huge bread display when you come in. Also felt our cappuccinos were just mediocre.
From the minute we walked in, the staff was friendly, courteous and professional. Our server, John, was knowledgeable and patient, answering our questions and making excellent suggestions. We never felt rushed and had an enjoyable experience. We will be back!
Our experience at Le Diplomate met all the high reviews. Went here for a romantic birthday dinner, and they treated her accordingly. We ordered two entrees, both of which were presented finely and tasted delicious. Our waiter was an excellent fellow. I'm sure I will be coming back again.
I love this place and try to eat here whenever I’m in DC. I love the ambiance & late night craziness and most of all, the homemade bread! Great service, friendly waiters and good food!
We live in Nashville TN and make it a priority to always eat at the Le Diplomate when traveling in DC.
We enjoyed everything about our dining experience at Le Diplomat.
As soon as you walk in you feel like you are in France. It’s a wonderful place for all occasions.
Best restaurant in DC. Staff is always accommodating and food is amazing.
Food is fantastic. Great selection of wines. Suggestion: the moules frites are amazing but too big for a single dinner serving. Recommend it being an appetizer or offered in half sizes on the menu (wasn't sure if this was an option).
Was expecting the food to come out of the kitchen a little slower than what it was. Barely had time to drink wine and finish oysters before it came out. But it was delicious.
I woulde definately recommend Le Diplomate! It is a very good restaurant, great setting and food always good! Only tricky thing is of course to find a table but no wonder with food and environment this good! Also positive that they do not add any disturbing music like other restaurants. Most restaurant are very loud. this one is not quiet either but they at least try not to add any additional noice so it is possible to talk to other people at the table (in case you are more than four).
Tito was wonderful, great service, food, Parisian bistro atmosphere! Would come back any time we’re in DC!
My absolute favorite restaurant! I could eat there every night. Just had my birthday dinner there with our one year old grand daughter. It was fabulous and they did a stupendous job of catering to us with a one year old.
We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. The food was delicious (we particularly liked the bread). Our waiter was very attentive.
Service was awesome, food was delicious. Favorite brunch ever.
A great place to share a meal with friends, service was exceptional our server was engaging and pleasant. Probably my favorite dish is the lobster omelet.
Fabulous, as always.
