Sunday Brunch was very good. Plenty of options. Need to make a reservation early, as this is a popular Brunch spot in DC.
Super efficient and friendly service. The food itself was delicious with a juicy medium rare steak, crispy potatoes, and a silky smooth lobster omelette done French style.
Le Diplomate has maintained its wonderful food since it opened. One can count on the highest quality food and service every time.
Our server was fantastic, and we could not have been more pleased with his menu guidance and friendly service.
Great ambiance and great staff. Feel like you're in Europe. I keep trying different things on the menu and they never disappoint (and the bread is fabulous).
It was way too loud and the server made a mistake with a drink order and did not correct it properly. The wine was corked and we had to return it twice. We were there to celebrate our birthdays but could hardly hear each other.
Service was excellent. I would definitely go back. Very friendly and professional staff, and our server was amazing. She made sure we were comfortable and the food was just as she described it to us out of this world.
Well the food was pretty good but despite empty tables, they first sat us at a table right next to where the waiters go in and out (and kind of touched you both ways). Then upon request, we were sat elsewhere. But the new table was squished in between another table and the waiters. Then the waiter didn’t bring the wine until after the food came and after I asked. Same with the bread. In general the waiter was for some reason seemingly overwhelmed.
Finally the mussels were disappointing—just ok.
Server was very knowledgeable, friendly and efficient.
My girlfriend took me here late on a Tuesday, and it was AMAZING! The service was excellent (they were very gracious when our outdoor eating plans were foiled by rain), the food came quickly, our server was super kind, and the entire restaurant is good for an Instagram post. I will absolutely come back.
Spectacular gougeres and wonderful Tarte Tatin. Noise level was a bit overwhelming. Overall, I had a great meal worthy of France.
Perfect French Restaurant with great service. I had the special Lobster Risotto which was great. My daughter had Ricotta raviolis. It was great. The bread is crazy good and homemade. They have a great menu and the wine list is AMAZING. I had a delicious cocktail called Romarin. It’s a grapefruit type cocktail. Get reservations. Go earlier. It got crazy fast.
This is my go-to favorite restaurant in D.C. it never disappoints and everyone who I bring here refers their loved ones and friends here!
Authentic delicious food with the best home made bread I have had in DC. The service is top notch, the wine list is extensive.
Lovely restaurant and great service
Our only gripe was for the price ($270) we would hope not to sit in small, dinky chairs directly in a major pathway.
On my radar since first DC visit. Food is traditional and delicious. Bread basket assortment is so, so good. We shared the cheese plate and charcuterie. Steak frites, skate, and lamb entrees all fantastic, my side of pommes purée sublime. Extensive wine list. Only negative was the initial interactions with our waiter! We are warm and friendly people, well-dressed and mannerly. Regardless, there is absolutely no reason for snobbery. And we were served it. He loosened up a bit in the end and we overtipped as usual, but less attitude would have made a more gracious dining experience.
Breakfast was fantastic, though we really did not eat breakfast food other than, perhaps, mimosas. The oysters were sublime. Les pommes frites everything you could imagine. The shrimp salad lovely and the burger a bulls eye
Our party of 3 had a delightful brunch on Saturday morning. There was a pretty good crowd for a chilly morning, but we were able to get a 9:30 reservation. As always, the service and food was excellent. The ambiance and noise levels were perfect for conversation, and we did not feel rushed at all. There are so many attractive breakfast choices that we feel compelled to return soon. Highly recommended!
Service was AWEFUL
Long-time popular D.C. place, for good reason. In an interesting neighborhood.
Phenomenal dining experience, felt like we were back in Paris! I never take the time to write reviews but this was an exceptional dinner. Thanks for a memorable evening!
After this experience, Le Diplomate is off our list: the food was undistinguished and couldn't justify the price point. It's definitely a fun place: pretty people in a fun neighborhood. But the mushroom tarte had clearly been frozen and then inadequately heated (still frozen in the center!) and the steak wasn't any better than you can get anywhere else. This is our third blah meal there, so no more.
Very good. Service was a bit slow for refilling the glasses from a bottle of wine purchased.
Great wine, great food, outstanding service. Even brought a special dessert for a birthday!
Happy Birthday celebration for 23 yr old son...came from out of town!
Four of us; two foodies, two less so but know good food. Food was all good, the day's special - Cassoulet - was excellent. Portions were good for sharing and good value. Only significant disappointment were the house hand-crafted cocktails from the menu. In one the description did not convey the likely sweetness, two should have been relatively alcohol forward but one was more like lemonade and the other was considered weak. Two of us make and consume a wide variety of cocktails, and we all tasted each of the cocktails and agreed. In future, I'd opt for a simple, straight-forward cocktail like a Hendricks Martini or similar standard. That said the house manager accepted our comments graciously and delivered a shared dessert treat as compensation.
Service was extremely quick. Food was excellent. Beef bourguignon was tender and delicious. Roasted chicken was moist and flavorful. Moroccan lamb was tender and delicious . Excellent food and service.
We arrived early for our reservation but we found a seat at the bar and our table was quickly ready. We ordered several apps to share before our entrees and everything was delicious! Classic French dishes - escargot, steak frites, salade Nicoise, trout almandine, gougeres, and more! Great bread! Raw oysters were expensive but good. We’ll go back!
Thank you to the staff who took care of my business colleague/friend who dined alone because I was sick. They brought her a special dessert and she said they treated her so well! I cannot wait to come back to Le D and return the favor to waitstaff! This is one of my favorite places in DC for all around good food and good service! Thank you so much, Team Le D! :)
Not fancy..a true French bistro.
Service is just what you would expect from a very busy French bistro..not fine dining by any stretch but I'd definitely go back. My food was perfect..bread delicious etc etc
Food was great, service outstanding. A bit noisy but that didn’t take away from the atmosphere.
The skate was excellent, as was the dorado. Loved the escargot. The gougere were simply amazing.
Service is great! Food could be better. Some hits, some misses.
I felt like I was in a great left bank French bistro. Great wine selection -- and superb Steak Frites.
The food is absolutely divine. The servers are friendly courteous and helpful in their recommendation. The ambience is popular yet relaxed. Definitely a place one can patron again and again to relish the most amazing French cuisine.
Had a wonderful time as always! Food was delicious, our server Madison was amazing! And a shout out to the Manager in charge for the complimentary pastries and Foie Gras Parfait as our table was running late. Thank you again!
Monica provided exceptional service. She was knowledgeable and helpful. Food and beverages were all great.
Excellent Sunday brunch!
steak tartare was amazing
