The food was a triumph! I enjoyed the escargot and scallops so much I kept eating after I was full. So delicious. I make it to Le Diplomate every time I make a visit to DC. So worth it!

Delicious food, reliably great service and wine list. The burger, roast chicken, cheese plates and bread basket are all amazing. Warm lighting, lovely decor. Truly my favorite restaurant in DC!

Recommended by another establishment in DC we found Le Diplomate to be one of the best meals in the city. Greeted warmly (confirmed reservations), and seated at a table of our choice, excellent service was the norm for the evening. Frog legs and escargot for the appetizer; sea bass and steak frites for the main. Wines, although a small-ish selection, will please every palate. Dessert, reluctantly, was impeccable.

The food was delicious, and timely prepared. The server was adequate. Aggravated and displeased that I didn't get the table/seating arrangement requested, as I made the reservation at least two weeks in advance.

My boyfriend and I went to Le Dip for his birthday dinner. We loved the food. We got a lovely bottle of cabernet sauvignon/merlot blend, oysters, foie gras, coq au reisling, and steak frites. Everything was perfect and I was blown away. It was an expensive night out for us, but very worth it.

Second time here. Best foie gras parfait I’ve had in the area. Their bread is simply amazing. Steak frites has been consistently perfect and the mushroom tart was decadent and delicious. Even a non-mushroom lover at the table enjoyed it. Really enjoy dining here and the staff always seems very attentive and friendly.

Good 'americanized' french food. Worth going to, but make a reservation else you'll be waiting a while for a table (if you even get one).

We had been looking forward to dining here since we missed out in September. The food is excellent. Kudos to the kitchen and support staff for sending out incredibly tasty dishes even though the restaurant was filled to capacity. The escargot and foie gras were delicious. I had the scallops, which were perfectly cooked. My husband had the trout almondine - also perfectly cooked and our friend had the steak au poivre. We all enjoyed our dishes immensely. My only complaint was that our server was extremely pushy and tried to hurry us along. I understand the place is busy but refilling our already half full wine glasses and removing our bread less than five minutes after dropping it off isnt cool. In the end we skipped out on dessert because she was just too much.

Once again , Le Diplomate was superbe ! Wonderful meal for a gluten free me and my two friends thoroughly enjoyed their first experience. It is still very busy and I recommend using Open Table for reservations as I did. Worked beautifully. Our server quickly notified me of the lobster risotto that was about to be gone , and I took that opportunity to enjoy it even though I had been ready to enjoy steak/ frites for weeks. 5* again!

Love the food here. I was a huge fan of parc in philly so this is just terrific to have in DC. I find the front desk hostesses always to have a bit of an edge to them that is certainly not welcomed. If they can't get you in you feel guilty for not making a reservation. Recently I was standing with a group and one tried to walk by me she bumped my shoulder and did not say excuse me. Little etiquette differences are not excercised by this team. I hesitated to comment but its just happened 6 times now that they are totally unfriendly. I also left my umbrella there, called to ask if they had it and nobody ever called me back.

I️ ordered a salad with a small piece of grilled salmon and they charged me for a fancy salmon entree plus an up charge for the salmon! Ludicrous and rude. Very disappointed they would try pass off a tiny salad and salmon as an entree!

If you want to feel like you're in Paris, this is the place. Authentic French Brasserie. Our meal very good - two of us had Steak Frites. Steak delicious and cooked perfectly but tough - shouldn't happen at a restaurant of this caliber. Server had arrogant attitude (perhaps trying to live up to French stereotype?). He spent a lot of time with table next to us discussing wine, and his time there apparently paid off as they ordered an expensive bottle. However, due to his neglect, our table wasn't cleared of our starters before our entrees arrived, and two of us waited for some time before getting the glasses of red wine we ordered for our entrees - we were well into our steaks before they arrived. Disappointing. But the food is good and the ambiance wonderful!

Excellent food. We loved our steak/ frittes. The bread was so fresh and yummy. We had a lovely evening celebrating a birthday. It is on the loud side, but that evening it was better than other nights that I have been there.

The decor is is pretty nice. It has a 1920's feel with French music playing throughout. The restaurant feels like one big room, however it manages to not be obnoxiously loud.

Appetizers: French Onion soup and the mushroom tart. The soup was pretty good, but the tart was EXCELLENT! The crust was so buttery and flaky! It's a lot bigger than I expected! So keep that in mind! Two people can definitely share it.

Entrees: Coq au Riesling and Beef Bourguignon. Both were delicious. The beef was very tender and flavorful.
