Le Charlot - Southampton
We've taken the menu of our home location in NYC and added an East End twist.
Excellent service and a great meal. Nice selection of wine as well
Great service mussels and avocado app excellent
The food here is very good - Authentic French - Prices are of - but the wine is OUTRAGIOUSLY expenseive - the cheapest glass is $18 and the cheapest bottle is $52 - and they usually don’t have the lower priced bottles - so you can expect to have to purchase a $75 bottle.
Also we were there on a weeknight with only 2 other tables occupies and we waited 1.25 hours just for the first course/appetizers to be served - dinner reservations were 6:30 - we left at 9:30!!!
Went for an early dinner during restaurant week. There were few dinners so noise level was acceptable, however with the closeness of tables the experience on a busy weekend night would most likely be very different. Restaurant week pricing was reasonable for quality of the food, however, regular menu prices seamed high.
Fantastic food and service. Our first time there. Everything was delicious. I had the moules and there were amazing. My only, only wish is that they would add one or two local ales to the beer list. The wine list, however is fantastic.
We wanted French and the options are few unfortunately in the Hamptons. So we gave it a try. The only thing French here is the name. The food was mediocre at best and generally tasted as if it were sourced from the frozen food section at Shop Rite or canned. I ordered the cassoulet which had sausages that tasted no better than frozen Jones breakfast sausages. My wife had cod which was tasteless and an overly fried potato croquet which was so fried you could not taste the potato. It sat in a slop of tomato sauce which was we would guess from a jar. The appetizer was artichoke which was OK but nothing exciting. The atmosphere was not French. A large screen TV blasts behind the bar. The service was adequate. No bread. A nice crispy baguette would have been welcome but it never came. Way overpriced. We expected big $ in the Hamptons but we also expected quality.
I just love the way you make every patron feel special!
The food and drink eveything we wated and more!!
Consistently delicious food and great staff. Bartender is the best!
Great food in a great lively but relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Second time dining.
Even better than the first.
Food made me feel like I was back in the
South of France rather than South of Hampton!
We’ll be back!
It was very good
Excellent meal service always a pleasure to eat here
Great food , great value, great service
Always good. It’s a simple, elegant menu, the music is hip and I feel like I’m taking a vacation
Christopher was amazing
The food, service and ambiance were very good.
We love this restaurant.
The Le Charlot dinner was extra specially good. The food was outstanding for each of the three of us. The avocado salad is the best anywhere. The soup was tasty, warm and seasonal. The main courses were absolutely excellent. We ordered two generous deserts for three people and were more than satisfied. The view from the window of beautiful historic Main Street, Southampton is rewarding any time of year and especially with the decorations of the C'mas season. You feel good if you dress up, you feel good if you go casual. The service is friendly and knowledgeable. Altogether, this restaurant is a great choice for any special occasion or for just plain dinner. Well worth the price.
Onion soup, steak always a winner.
Delicious French onion soup!
Le Charlot is a very pleasant Southampton restaurant open all year, affording classic French fare
in an unhurried atmosphere. It is also a location where it's still possible to hear the person across the
table. The wine list is reasonably priced and the wait service is polite, discrete, if a bit slow. But
then , it is off season and for midweek the restaurant did a great job. Our Cajun fish was beautifully done, not too spicey, right on the mark. The salads are very nicely prepared with the freshest of ingredients.
This is a good choice when in Southampton and the sidewalks are rolled up early off season.
The food was OK
The Service was OK
I knew that it would be pricy. I must say the drinks are the most expensive in Southampton.
I understand the brunch is very good.
We went for restaurant week they did offer the usual choices Hamburger chicken fish beef.
we had one complaint and it was handled immediately.
I would go back for brunch but I most likely would not have another $18 drink.
Waaayyyy overpriced! Food not special. Won't go there again.
The food was delicious. The only reason I gave an average rating is because of the service. Our waiter, Dima, was the problem. He didn’t bother to read any of the specials; we asked for bread that never came; he forgot our order so he had to ask a second time; he told me my order was no longer available and then I found out the table next to us was served the dish; he never checked on us and didn’t deliver any of the food. I watched him wait on every other table surrounding us. We were there for our anniversary and was ready to spend a lot of money but I think he saw that we were a younger couple and figured we weren’t worth his time or at least that is how he made us feel.
Food was excellent and I loved the ambience. I will return
Went with friends and our children and we all had a good meal and enjoyed our experience.
Had dinner at Le Charlot while in the Hamptons this week for work. The food was good, nice wine list, but service was a bit lackluster. We ordered sparkling water 5 times, but never actually got it and finally gave up. It wouldn’t stop me from going back if I was in the area, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go again either.
Food was tasty. Service was fantastic. We had a wonderful time sitting outside on a summer night.
We ate there twice, once for lunch, a second time for dinner. Lunch was excellent. Outside table, good service, pleasant food. Dinner was less successful. Crowded, slow and slightly chaotic service. Ok lobster but pricey. A nice place overall, better than average quality of food.
Really amazing food. Just excellent in every possible way.
If weather is right sit outside and watch the tourists.
I would suggest an improvement on the wine list as they have few options.
Tries to be an elegant restaurant, but is no more elegant than the moderate burger and beer restaurant it replaced.
Their prices are outrageous: $18 for a Dewars scotch; $38 for four scallops; $12 for plain water.
A complete ripoff -- trying to emulate the elegant restaurant next door -- San Ambrose.
Very rude manager and waited almost 50 minutes for lunch entrees. Will not be back!
Service needs to improve
We really enjoyed our dinner ... service was very good, the food was very good. Nothing was exceptional....it was all just very good, which is a good thing.
My wife had the mussels (very good). I had the steak au poivre (very good).
We had their dessert, which was also very good.
If every meal was as good as this, we’d be batting 1000
Enjoy it, it’s very good
Fun people watching. Service inexperienced but attentive. Kitchen proved to be unremarkable but acceptable if it’s just being about the scene and locale that you’re interested in. Gets loud after 8p
A terrible experience . Overpriced and bugs in the salad. Service was lovely but the food was so slow out of the kitchen. We’re not going back and I suggest spending your money elsewhere .
It’s always excellent and our fav spot
friendly courteous service, sensitive to dietary restrictions, warm upscale atmosphere, did not feel rushed or pressured. Great meal and drinks, coffee was excellent and hot, would definetly return and recommend to others
