Le Caprice London
Excellent....plus a wonderful pianist which combined for an excellent evening
The service was top-notch across the board, and the food was also excellent (though some was more flavourful than others). The veal and the duck salad were particularly impressive. Very well looked after on the evening, and made a point to bring out some chocolate truffles with 'Happy Anniversary' on the plate FOC. A truly excellent experience. Thanks to the team for looking after us so well!
Great food, good service.
Very average food while prices are over the roof. I would not recommend it.
Food high standard. Service a bit inexperienced and inconsistent. Prices reasonable for quality. Overall a good if not excellent experience
Excellent service. The main courses were a little bit disappointed especially the fried chicken was too dry. Desserts were good and the birthday greeting was perfect for birthday celebration.
My wife and I joined friends for Sunday lunch - we hadn’t been there for many years and were really impressed with the high quality food and service but also by the menu range and relaxed, welcoming ambience - an establishment that is justifiably very comfortable with itself.
I came here with a friend for dinner. The food was amazing but we had an issue with our waiter who was unfriendly, didn’t get our drinks order right and was fairly absent throughout the whole meal. However, the senior staff were amazing and when we highlighted the issue were very receptive to feedback and gave us champagne to apologise! I’d like to think he was having a bad day...
Despite the waiter, I would still recommend and would come back again.
As always, Caprice was wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Service was mostly at tentative and our meal was good.
The service was slow. This was probably our 10th time to this restaurant with the same other couple. The lady at the next table fell off her chair hitting one of us and throwing her red wire all over and literally covered our table mid meal. The restaurant’s response was to put down some napkins over the table but when they soaked through and with a bit of prodding they changed out the table cloth. Then as our desserts and coffee were arriving the waiter said our time was up and we needed to leave the table. Stupidly we complied and were seated in the doorway entrance to the restaurant for the desserts and coffee. No apologies or concessions. No offer of an after dinner drink. Just the same haughty attitude and slow service which along with having to redo the table because of the thrown wine caused the two hour rule to be exceeded and it was rigidly enforced. We are still talking about it days later. The
Food was excellent. But table was right by the entrance so we had people walking past all night, and we were very close to the bar. I was also presented with the WRONG bill. No one checked on any course if we were ok with our food.
Worst service ever at a 'fine' restaurant. Not only was the service horrible, but no one gave a flip about it. We were a party of four. Most of us are 'glass half full' kind of people, but we all left aghast at the experience, and not in a good way. The reservation was for 2 hours. We arrived at 6:30 pm and ordered cocktails from one server. The order was apparently lost. We ordered again from another server and were brought the wrong drinks. Finally at 7:40 pm we got them. We told them we would probably not be out in 2 hours now that we only had 40 minutes to eat, and someone (a manager?) said no problem! At 8:30 pm someone else came and asked if we would move tables to accommodate the next party. We never saw the same waiter/manager twice. The atmosphere was chaotic, no one knew what they were doing. This is only a hint of how bad it was, due to space here in the comments. The details would horrify you. I stopped before leaving to speak with someone (a manager? couldn't tell) and express my disappointment. The basic attitude was 'Sorry, we're busy, please leave." Btw, the food was just passable.
Food was excellent with very good service and buzzing atmosphere. Only criticism is that you have to be out within 2 hours if you have an early table.
Attentive and friendly staff with great food. No downsides at all!
Decided to go for a late lunch / early dinner at 2:00 since we had theater tickets later that evening. I expected it to be quiet but it was hopping on a Monday!
It worked out perfectly for us. As we headed back to our hotel for an afternoon siesta before the Tina Turner show - which was fabulous as well!!
We had dinner here last year for dinner when the pianist was playing with a few others and it was wonderful. The food is very much a fusion of flavors from around the world and the vibe is too.
Love the small retro environment - and the staff were outstanding.
my dinner restaurant of choice - good food, service and ambience and consistent
Excellent all around, was delicious and service was prompt and helpful!
Le Caprice is a favourite of ours, and I take my wife there every year on her birthday. This time the place wasn't firing on all cylinders, but it was still a lovely night out. As always, the management and senior staff were exemplary; it would be difficult to find a warmer welcome to a restaurant outside of Italy. However, this time the more junior staff, including our waiter, were Eastern European, and although they were courteous and polite and professional, they lacked the warmth that we are used to. The food was just a bit below par this time. Although our starter of prawns and my wife's fish were both outstanding, as was the side of courgettes with salsa verde and a fennel pollen crumb, which I am determined to replicate at home, subject to finding fennel pollen, my pork dish was dry and lacking in the succulence I have come to expect of Le Caprice. The bread, which we normally have to work hard to avoid touching because it is so warm and addictive and apt to spoil our appetites, was room temperature this time and easily resisted. Our desserts were both too sweet, my wife's blueberry pie with blueberry ice cream particularly so, with no counterbalancing sharpness flavours to relieve the monotony. However, all this was redeemed when the waiter appeared at the end of the meal with glorious frozen truffles on a plate. One has to see Le Caprice in the round rather than as a culinary masterclass.
Had a late lunch so restaurant was empty so ideal for a business discussion. As usual service was
Professional and discreet . Food was very good, overall 10/10
Dining at The Caprice is always a delight. Day or night the room lends itself to the time and tempo of the hour.
Food is reliable and you can count on it’s quality and presentation. For the adventurous there are selections of new dishes and for those who want to stick to more traditional fare there are items that go back to the day they opened. I find this restaurant especially appealing for the excellent staff who have been there for years and always make you feel welcome
Excellent meal let down by me not feeling great. Hardly the restaurants fault that I could not eat my fish and chips which has to be said looked amazing. However I managed to eat my first course of the Cornish fish soup that was everything I hoped it would be, after that I let the side down. The service at Le Caprice is some of the best you will receive in London.
Great service great atmosphere great food. We were celebrating the Middlesex Hospital ‘s 260 year service which sadly closed in 2005 and was amalgamated with University College London
I felt rushed by staff as if they were under pressure to get the table back
Smaller venue. But everything you want in a high quality restaurant..outstanding food with excellent service. Will be back.
Great food, great service, very enjoyable, we will go back again.
Great service, nice atmosphere. Very enjoyable long lunch
Have to Caprice many times over the years either lunch or inner & always enjoy it.
Nice ambiance, good food
Great as always. They are always keen to solve any problem and very funny when got sauces mixed up on our deserts. Pretty much my favourite in town.
Fabulous evening for our anniversary dinner.
Really lovely traditional restaurant with top notch food and great service.
Can highly recommend.
The ambiance is always wonderful and the 1920s Art Deco decor is my favorite in London.
The menu planning and multiplicity of entree choices are appreciated.
For the first time, I found that, in an attempt to be modern, interesting, or whatever, some of the entrees were too spiced and had conflicting tastes. This is a growing plague in modern restaurant cuisine, with the constant pressure to be new and different. For example, the addition of spiced cashews completely destroyed the subtle tastes of the crispy duck and watermelon...when redelivered from the kitchen without the cashews, and when I removed the large pile of useless greenery, the underlying dish was a brilliant combination of tastes, textures and colors.
As usual Le Caprice never fails to deliver after all these years. Food ,service and ambience were all perfect
A beautiful retro feel restaurant with excellent food and service at a decent price point. Will go again..
Le Caprice is a London classic, providing great atmosphere, great food and excellent service. The interior has not changed for a long time but is, again, classic and a bit understated 90's glam. It was frequented by the odd celebratory back in the day. Tucked behind the Ritz, I think it's still a gem.
Go Here - one of the best
Food, staff and ambiance were great. We had amazing serving staff.
This is always an excellent occasion and by far my favorite restaurant. It was also very good to be greeted by the director outside in the garden area.
The food and service was amazing!
This was the first time I had dinner at LE Caprice and I was very impressed. The service was very good, the ambience was lovely and the food was excellent. We had the set menu and it was excellent value, great tasting food and well presented. I would highly recommend LE Caprice
Great food. Sharp service.
