Le Bouchon has been thriving in Bucktown since 1993, serving classic French Bistro food in a dining room that will transport you to Paris. Voted one of the best French Restaurants in America by Timeout Magazine. Open for Lunch and Dinner, we serve the classics, starting with our decadent Onion Tart, Garlic-y Escargot and Frog Legs, to entrees including Steak Frites, Trout-en-Croute and a Full Duck for two. The staff is knowledgeable and will be able to guide you in the right direction with our extensive French wine list. Weekly specials include: Mondays- half priced bottles of wine. Our second time dining at Le Bouchon and just when I thought it couldn’t be any better, they outdid themselves. Absolutely amazing meal. They were pretty busy because of their pre fix special, but that did not have any negative impact on the evening. Cannot wait time visit again.

We think the waitress was not happy because we were not drinking alcohol. Her tone and manners changed dramatically after we declined to have wine.

Really outstanding food with such a cozy atmosphere. I had the celery root soup with apples and pine nuts - delicious! There were 3 of us for dinner: one had the trout in puff pastry, another had the rabbit pot pie and I had the baked chicken with Robuchon potatoes. All 3 were excellent!

Restaurant was cold and every time the door opened there was a rush of cold air, making experience not enjoyable. Also the steak had a strong taste of the grill.

Le Buchon used to feel very much like a French bistro. It felt authentic and honest and as if the owner was truly dedicated to every aspect and standard. Today, it is fine but it does not have the magic it once did. Part of that might be that 1980s pop music playing too loudly and dominating the restaurant and therefore our evening. We do love eating at the bar. That is more intimate and rewarding.

Thank you Oliver for continuing the legacy of your parents. We had an amazing meal and celebrated a 75th birthday. Will be back soon, for the duck...my first, many years ago, carved by Jean Claude.

Love this bistro and Le Sardine. I live in San Francisco. I visit Chicago, my home town, too infrequently to see family and friends. The staff and owners hit all the right notes and transport us back to Paris. Merci!

The starters, escargot and salad were delicious as were the steak frites. The noise level was terrible unless you find shouting acceptable. The loud bass beat in the dining room did not help nor was it an appropriate French experience. Service was apathetic at best. The dessert, was awful and should not have been served. The menu described it a a pear custard cake. What was served was a vey small over baked dry cake that literally was burnt on the outside. There was no pear flavor or custard. I had one bite and it had an absolutely overwhelming taste of cloves. My wife and I waited a long time for or waiter to come by and when informed, he had no apology, no offer to get anything else and took the plate away. The dessert was not on the bill. No reason to return.

Fantastic. Had dinner here last night. Everything our 4 person group had was stellar. Seared Fois Gras appetizer, escargot, oyster, cheese puffs, cassolet, chicken, trout en croute and white chocolate bred pudding. Definately going back.

Wonderful food and service, intimate surroundings with lively and friendly fellow diners. The prix fixe Tuesday special is an unbelievable deal. Excellent and knowledgeable service and ease of reservation made for an overall great experience.

The food was very rich and delicious and the wine was great. One of our dishes, the trout in puff pastry, wasn't cooked properly. The puff pastry was completely raw in spots. When we showed our waiter, he completely ignored the problem and that lack of consistency and care soured our experience a bit.

Le Bouchon serves French comfort food. The preparation and presentation are well executed, and the service is always professional. The restaurant is small, which brings with it a small level of discomfort and noise. However, the restaurant makes every effort to accommodate the patrons. My only real gripe with the restaurant is the lack of valet parking. As someone who is usually coming in the from the suburbs, the extra hassle of needing to find street parking is a constant frustration.

I love this restaurant and it never fails to exceed my expectations. We had a very friendly and knowledgeable waitress. She introduced the prize fixe menu which included an appetizer, main course and dessert. The onion soup is delicious with lots of cheese and the cassoulet was wonderful. I had the apple tart and vanilla ice cream for dessert and it was divine. It feels like a little bit of Paris in Chicago!

Absolutely a wonderful experience on every level. Our server Anne, was on top of everything, yet calm and collected. The food was over the top delicious. It was all so fresh and you could taste every layer of flavor. Just terrific.

The duck for two used to be served with delicious wild rice, now it is served with fried spatezel and cabbage. This is German not French. We asked if we could get potatoes, which came like gooey but tasty wall paper paste. We questioned why we did not get the accompanying vegetable and were told because they gave us the potatoes instead of spatezel. No offer to bring us the vegetable.
That’s it for Le Bouchon as far as we are concerned!
