   Dinner at Le Bouchon to celebrate our middle child’s graduation from 8th grade. She studies French and loves french food so made the reservation a month ago. Meal was fantastic- everyone loved their food except I think my daughter wished she had ordered the steak frites like her little brother. Our server was fantastic and the place jammed even on a Tuesday night. Never disappoints!

   This is my favorite restaurant in the city. No matter what, Le Bouchon always delivers. Half price wine bottles Monday is seriously the best deal in town. Fixed price Tuesday is a great way to sample a huge portion of the menu. Traditional French bistro dishes with personality and a killer wine list. It is my happy place!

   For this price point would have expected much better. The service was indifferent and the meal was poorly executed (although the beet salad was good). The dining room was so cold that our entire party couldn’t wait to leave. Reminded me of a restaurant past it’s prime living on it’s reputation.

   Amazing testaurant with sublime dishes! Everything we ordeed were delicious. Our server was so on top of everything, and he knew when to ask for our drinks and when to check on us we loved the beet salad, the onion soup, and the salmon pastry dish. The atmosphere was cordial. We really felt we were in a local French restaurant, having been there only 6 months back! A nice surprise was their unique beer, crafted here in Chicago. We will definetely go back and recommend this place highly.

   I'm torn on this one ... the food was simply exceptional. Balancing that out was some of the chilliest, most indifferent, service I've had for a meal at those price points. You could almost see the warmth drain from our server's face once she realized we weren't ordering any wine. It was clear we were persona non grata after that point, as she barely spoke with our table and never once checked up to ask about our food. Le Bouchon isn't a restaurant one goes to on impulse; it's one for special occasions. In this case, I took my wife, daughter, son and son's girlfriend to celebrate my son's graduation from culinary school. That was noted in the "special comments" area of the reservation, but never acknowledged. Like I said, the food was exceptional. But I'm certain I can eat just as well at those kind of prices at dozens of other restaurants in Chicago. Oh yeah, the chairs were comically uncomfortable, too.

    As French as a restaurant in Chicago can be. Magnificent warm loaves of French bread arrive right away. Excellent beet salad and French onion soup. The trout and steak entrees were OK. Massive selection of French wines.

    Le Bouchon has been our favorite restaurant for many years. But who is minding the quality these days? The Restaurant very short staffed last night.. We waited an hour for our duck and when served, the skin and the legs were burnt black.. When we finally got the waitress’s attention she suggested we eat the other parts that were not. Seriously! Those were dry and over cooked. The spatzle was rock hard. Good thing we don’t care for it. We sent it all back and they did take it off the bill at out request. Busy or not, we were shocked that they thought it was acceptable to serve a dish that was so obviously burnt.

    Everything about le Bouchon was great! The restaurant was reminiscent of an actual Parisian bistro, it was lively and full of people enjoying company over great food. We had escargot, frog legs, caviar, and steak frites - everything was delicious and perfectly cooked. New favorite restaurant!

    Food was delicious, best french onion soup we've had. Very cute spot. Service was another story. The waitress we had was very rushed, and told the table next to us there was only one more of the black cod left (which she didn't tell us). They said they would take it, she immediately turned around to my girlfriend and said "We're actually out of Cod". The table ordering even looked surprised by the server's action. It was just unnecessary and that was a little bit of how each interaction was. Rushed, not authentic when she wished us a happy anniversary. I picked this place because I thought it would be a wonderful evening, and it was still a good dining experience, but the server definitely threw off the energy for the evening.

    My husband and I went for my birthday and our waiter was great - helpful with questions but not too chatty. Our soup and vegetable dishes were a delight. My steak frites fine - too much pepper for me even though I asked for none. The rabbit pot pie was delicious. But the almond cake dry. Overall, great but a few misses.

    Despite the reservation, we were not seated until 15 minutes after our scheduled time. The place was very busy, and there was no place for guests waiting for tables to stand. The tables were very close together, so it was impossible not to overhear the conversations of everyone around us.

    Four of us went for lunch. The food was very good, but the noise level (although the room was only half full). was so loud that we could hardly hear each other! We sadly decided to rule it out for future lunches because of that. If you are going as a couple, it might work for you.

    This place was amazing. It’s unassuming on the outside but the food was incredible! We were just looking for a nice place to eat after a show and I’m so glad we came across Le Bouchon.     The biggest problem for us with Le Bouchon is that it is overcrowded and cramped. It sort of feels like a place that "snobby" people might frequent so maybe we are simply too provincial to truly appreciate it. The food was fine, though the flavors were a bit heavy handed in some cases. The drinks were creative and of sufficient variety to be interesting. We largely went for the Seared Foie Gras & Pancakes because we are (guilt ridden) Foie gras lovers. It was fine but we would have paid double the price if the Foie could have been a bit more front and center in the dish. And the "pancake" portion of the dish was really nothing special, almost becoming a throw away for us (and we feel as guilty about wasting food as we do about eating Foie!). The Salade Betteraves was good but, then, we are beet lovers so pretty easy to satisfy in this area. While there were other items on the menu that we would have liked to have tried, this was sort of our "in between" meal before a tasting that evening so we kept our selections relatively Spartan in quantity (at least for us). Nonetheless, the overcrowded nature of Le Bouchon probably means that it is a one and done for us: and we fully understand that this may actually be part of the fun of the restaurant for others...just not us. Service was a bit off too. We waited quite awhile before we could get a check...which just further backed up the overcrowded space since there were pretty continuously people waiting at the door. We would STRONGLY recommend reservations. We had them and had no wait even given the crowded nature of the space. I will caveat my response about whether I would recommend Le Bouchon by adding that my answer is, 'yes'...but with caveats.

    Still wonderful after all these years! We have been going since the 1990s when we lived a few blocks away. Still great, even if we have a drive for 30 minutes to get there.
