About

This restaurant is permanently closed.

Le Bistro D'à Côté is a French cafe in the Upper East Side area of New York City. Intimate and cozy dining spaces are put together with old fashioned solid brick walls, antique pictures and quaint square lamps hanging from the ceilings. It's a good restaurant for a quiet conversation on a date or with a few close friends and family. Many tables have a great street view, so guests can enjoy the vibrant city life going on right outside the doors of Le Bistro D'à Côté.

The French cuisine served at this restaurant has the same old-fashioned air that the restaurant itself has. Recipes are cooked in traditional style that is both authentic and flavorful. A few of the most popular dishes served at Le Bistro D'à Côté include the foie gras, hanger steak, duck confit, grilled salmon and the ratatouille.

Never disappointed in dining at Le Bistro. Great martinis, great food and you always feel welcomed. Missed the Thursday Night Jazz but looking forward to its return in the fall.

I've been a loyal patron of this restaurant since it opened. Seems to be heading downhill. Never have I been as disappointed as this time. There was one waitress for the entire restaurant, leaving us wanting for food and drink for a very long time. They were out of my first choice as well as one of the other diners in my party. This was not because of heavy volume but because they had not ordered it for that day. I am not sure I will be returning again.

The restaurant was very pleasant and the people couldn't have been nicer. The food was mediocre at best, but it wasn't busy and we didn't have to rush because they didn't need the table, so it was a fine evening.

A fine kitchen overall, best escargot in NYC, superb ratatouille, extra special friendly staff.

I love the food at this place. The escargot is off the charts and the Salmon and Mussels are so fresh and cooked to perfection. The service is quick, and the ambiance is authentic. Looking to my next meal at Bistro d'a Cote.

I am glad this restaurant is in my neighborhood. It has all the ingredients for a great, or at least lovely local bistro. The food is good, the decorations give a sense of authenticity. But the service was very snobbish. I had a groupon certificate and the server seemed displeased. He was abrupt, and dismissive. I want to like this restaurant - but I would think twice about going back in the near future.

We were pleasantly surprised ! I have walked past the place for years but never paid attention. That last night changed that! My son had the baked spinach and goat cheese salad which was amazing. I loved my roasted pear and blue cheese salad. My salmon was near perfect, my husband inhaled his muscles and my son loves the chicken!
We will be back!

Great Provençal rosé. Salmon is recommended medium, because it's frozen. Wasn't bad, but I prefer fresh and rare. Immense amount of mussels in the moule frites. The best was the escargot. Really good! Not a bad place overall. These guys are definitely French. There's an air of it in everything. If that's your thing it's a good place. That our thing, so we'll be back.

So disappointing. Awful service. Food was all right but not very good. Served ketchup like a Nathan's Hot Dog place and butter like a coffee-shop would - Tacky. I would never go back.

It seemed to be a busy night so staff appeared somewhat rushed. Menu choices were good and only downside was food came out warm for two of the entrees rather than hot. Usually would have sent it back but as we were rushed we kept it. May have been sitting on the serving line a bit too long. Ambiance is pleasant but given the number of phone flashlights that could be seen throughout the restaurant being used to read the menu (and to see the food in a couple of cases) a bit more light at tables would help.

Having a neighborhood restaurant that consistently serves delicious entrees is great. Le Bistro never disappoints. And, Thursday Evening Jazz Night is a nice addition to mid-week dining.

They were out of oysters, out of Pinot Noir and out of ginger ale. How can that be? And the last time we were there they were out of salmon. I think they have no business during the week (it was dead) so they don't order food. My son ordered beef bourgingon but they didn't have it on the menu tonight, said only for special occasions.
The good was extra salty, restaurant too dark and the apple Tatin was soggy. And the fried calamari had a pungent taste like the batter was old.
This is our neighborhood standby...never again!

Our favorite place to take guests, our go-to date nite dinner and our most frequent take-out delivery. The salmon, the tuna, the nicoise, the hangar steak all excellent. The foiegras is great too but it does not travel well. Service can be uneven it is always friendly. Thanks for. Aking Bit noisy, nothing fancy, but welcoming.

If you want a little touch of French, this is the place to go. Food is good, wines even better. Wish they had a little more wait staff, sometimes hard to wait for the first cocktail! Always friendly, always accommodating. We have had Christmas Eve dinner here for three years running and love it.

Enjoyed an early evening New Years dinner with great wine, food, and service. A slight, almost unnoticeable hiccup in service resulted in a free tumbler of bourbon...which was a very generous offer from our waitress.

The fish is always excellent and the ratatouille outstanding as are calamari, crab cakes when they are on the menu, and the escargot the best I have ever had in New York.

At this cozy little neighborhood bistro you can't go wrong with classic French provincial fare--Coq au Vin or Les Pates a la Carbonara (fresh tagliatelle with bacon, ham and cream sauce). But don't be afraid to try one of the more innovative dishes, too. My mouth is watering just remembering L'Assiette Provencal, a delicious concoction of cold ratatouille, black olive tapenade and tzatziki on toasted pita offered as a starter but which could easily be extended to serve as an entrée. We'll definitely be back again.

Dined here over the weekend and was pleased with most all of my experience. Dishes were mostly classic, well prepared and seasoned, great flavor, well priced. Foie App was a treat indeed, nothing fancy, but classic and luscious. It's nice to see classics executed well and presented in their boundaries rather than always re-engineered to the point they lose integrity. Wine list was small, but well selected and well priced. Space is nice, cozy, dim lit for ambiance but not so much you can't see the menu. Service style was more cafe paced, ie: seated with menus, water poured, then back 10-12 mins later to take the order. No fluff (also not overbearing) , but attentive when needed. Great bar area was available and seemed like the perfect place for a glass of wine and one of their signature apps if you didn't want the whole dinner experience. We will be back!

Good ambiance, nice menu, lovely bar, enjoy the Euro music.

Unfortunately on our last visit we were seated next to a very loud, rowdy group and management refused to move us into the 2nd room, which was quieter. Still, I will return on another day, as I enjoy having this place in the neighborhood.
